Abstract

This research was aimed to explore the behavior changes, especially the forgiving behavior in children with conduct disorder. It was assumed that forgiving behavior played as predisposition in reducing destructive behavior. A training module was created and implemented to facilitate the occurrence of behavioral changes. Data was collected using Triangulation method and then analyzed with successive approximation (Neuman, 2000). There are significant changes in most of the respondents in understanding and re-experiencing the targeted behavior even though the mode of changes was vary for each subject. Forgiving behavior in children with conduct disorderwould emerge after expressing the same destructive behavior that other did to the respondent and with full support from peers.Keywords: Children with conduct disorder, forgiving behavior

Abstract

Penelitian lni bertujuan untuk (1) mengawali proses adaptasi instrumen pengukuran psikologis The Survey of Interpersonal Values(SIV), satu instrumen yang berbentukforced·choice. ke dalam konteks masyarakat Indonesia. Hasil adaptasi tes SIV ke dafam konteks masyarakat Indonesia disebut Tes Survei Nifai-nifai Interpersonal (SNI),dan (2) mengetahui kemampuan dan efektivitas metode forced choice untuk mengatasi jawaban-jawaban yang tidak jujur dari responden suatu instrumen pengukuran psikofogis. Uji beda terhadap hasif tes 42 subjek mahasiswa LPK Tabitha(eksperimen 1) menunjukkan adanya perbedaan antara kondisi kon·seling dan kondisi seleksi pada beberapa faktor dari SNI, yaitu KebaikanHati dan Kepemimpinan. Perbedaan ini menjadi sangat jelas terlihatdalam uji beda terhadap hasil tes 46 subjek mahasiswa baru FakultasTeologia UKOW (eksperimen 2) yang menunjukkan bahwa lima darikeenam faktor dalam SNI dapat dijawab dengan tidak jujur secarasignifikan. Pembahasan dan implikasi dari hasif penemuan ini diuraikansecara fuss dalam laporan penelitian. Hasil pengujian validitas konkurendan reliabilitas tes ulang pada skala-skala dalam SNI menunjukkanpotens, penggunaan SNI untuk keperluan pengukuran kepribadian diIndonesia. Abstract

Children are very vulnerable with their bodies, especially when they are ill. This condition is so uncomfortable for children to get ill, moreover when they have to be hospitalized. Children usually have chronic illness and should be hospitalized for long time. This condition would affect not only their bodies, but their minds and emotions. Hospitalized would make children getting stress or distress and need to cope. One way to cope is managing their emotions through writing and drawing as a method to express their emotions. This study used the book as a media to express their emotion called “Pelangi Hatiku”.          The qualitative method using in this study is case study. The participants who involved in this case study were 3 children of 8-12 years-old from 2 general hospitals in Yogyakarta. They were interviewed and observed regarding to their steps of managing emotions using “Pelangi Hatiku”.          It was found that managing emotions consisted of four steps, they are spontaneously, event thinking deeply, involving or withdrawal from emotions reflectively, reducing negative emotions by increasing positive emotions. Furthermore, the Emotional Detections Scale from pre test and post test showed the score decreasing in which means that there was increasing in their abilities to manage their emotions. Keywords     :    emotional management, writing, drawing

Abstract

Moral violation among students, from elementary school until high school, is increasing both in quantity and quality. The government has put in effort to overcome this problem through moral and ethic lessons. On the other hand, parents encounter problems in upholding the rules for children. In the other words, parents have not found an effective way to plant moral lessons (Andayani, 2000).An effective form of communication results from the combination of father child and mother chils interaction quality, using persuasive expressions persistently, avoiding physical punishments, and expressions indicating self esteem (Elizabeth and Cardlyn, 1999; Maria, 1999).A qualitative method was used in the case study. The research subjects consist of pre-school students until first graders of 4 to 7 years old. Student’s interaction, both with teachers at school and with parents at home, was observed with structureless observation method, and followed by interview with teachers and parents. The observation settings are as follows : 1) houses; 2) Sunday school; 3) Play group; 4) Taman Siswa Elementary School; 5) Kindergarten.Findings : 1) Toleration, honesty, courage, and forgivingness are moral values which are more often conveyed by teachers to students at school; 2) moral values which are taught concerns more with the completion of school works; 3) not many teachers covey warnings in Javanese language; 4) warnings conducted by parents consist of a more angry characteristic and not of advice; 5) moral value taught at home concerns more with obedience toward parents, disciplinary and diligence. Key words     :   persistent persuasion
