Abstract

Comet goldfish (Carassius auratus) is a type of freshwater ornamental fish that is popular among the public and has the main advantage of having lots of color variations. The use of fish meal is the biggest obstacle causing the high price of feed and affecting the production of comet fish. The new alternative material to replace fish meal is silk worm flour (Tubifex sp). The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of feeding silkworm meal on the performance and survival of comet fish (C. auratus) fry. This research was carried out in February-March 2021 at Perum Yeyes Lestari, Kenali Besar Village, Alam Barajo District, Jambi City for 40 days. The experimental design used in this study was a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications, the treatments included 15% silk worm flour (A), 20% silk worm flour (B), 25% silk worm flour (C) 30% silk worm flour (D). The test fish used were comet fish measuring 3-5 cm as many as 120 fish. The results showed that temperature had an effect on survival, absolute weight growth and feed conversion. The color of comet fish for all treatments at the beginning of the study ranged from 3.90-4.43 (golden yellow), while at the end of the study there was a color change that ranged from -2.14-2.83 (dark red). The highest SR was found in treatment A of 86.67% followed by treatment B 70.00% and treatment D 56.67%. The highest PBM value was found in treatment C of 3.26 g. The best FCR value was found in treatment C of 3.56. The results of the analysis of water quality showed that the condition of the culture media was still quite feasible for the maintenance of comet fish in the aquarium container.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to see the effect of light intensity on the hatchability of catfish (P. hypopthalmus. F) eggs. This research was conducted in December 2021, for 30 days at the Inti Karya Perdana Sijenjang Farmers Group, Jambi province. The design in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 levels and 3 replications, the treatments included: without light (A), 20 watt light (B), 30 watt light (C) and 40 watt light (D). Parameters observed included egg hatchability, hatching time, survival rate and water quality. The results showed that the average hatchability of eggs was 83.00 ± 5.46 % and ranged from 78.00 ± 2.65 to 90.67 ± 2.08 %. The average value of hatching time was 19.71 ± 2.31 hours, minutes. The average survival rate was 85.75 ± 4.03% and ranged from 80.67 ± 3.51 to 90.00 ± 3.61%. The temperature of the media for hatching catfish eggs ranged from 26.82-30.500C in the morning and 29.50-31.830C in the afternoon, the pH ranged from 6.65-7.76 in the morning and 6.23-6.78 in the afternoon. afternoon. Dissolved oxygen ranged from 4.3-4.5 mg/L, CO2 ranged from 13-15 mg/L and ammonia for all treatments was 0.001 mg/L. The temperature of the larval rearing medium during the study ranged from 26.93ºC-31.11 ºC in the morning and 27.47ºC-31.45ºC in the afternoon, the pH ranged from 6.32-7.34 in the morning and 6.10-7. .81 in the afternoon, dissolved oxygen ranged from 4.0-4.3 mg/L, CO2 ranged from 12-13 mg/L and ammonia was 0.001 mg/L. Differences in light intensity in the form of different lamp watts affect egg hatchability and hatching time for Siamese catfish (P. hypopthalmus. F.) eggs.

Abstract

The production of betok fish has experienced overfishing and resulted in a decrease in productivity, therefore one of the efforts made to help success in spawning betok fish can be done by stimulating factors related to the reproductive system, namely by stimulating the work of hormones in stimulating gonadal maturation in artificial spawning with hypophysation method. This study aims to look at the response of goat pituitary extract to the fecundity of betok fish (A. testudineus, Bloch). This research was conducted for 30 days, using 4 treatments with 3 replications, with details of treatment P0: Control, treatment P1: Goat Pituitary Extract 0.05 ml/kg, Treatment P2: Goat Pituitary Extract 0.2 ml/kg, and treatment P3 : Goat Pituitary Extract 0.35 ml/kg. The results of the study using the best goat pituitary extract in the P2 treatment (0.2 ml/kg Goat Pituitary Extract) produced the highest fecundity, namely 8349 eggs produced. The results of water quality measurements showed that the pH value was 7.6 – 7.7. water temperature is 270C – 300C, dissolved oxygen (DO) is 2.9 – 4.4 mg/L. and the content of ammonia (NH3) during the study was 0.012 – 0.013 mg/L.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the optimal water level for the rearing of jelawat fish (Leptobarbus hoevenii blkr) with a recirculation system. This research was conducted for 60 days at the Telanaipura Ornamental Fish Installation Laboratory, Jambi Province Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service. The study was conducted using a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications covering a water level of 10 cm (A), a water level of 15 cm (B), a water level of 20 cm (C) and a water level of 25 cm (D). The results showed that the different water level treatments had a significant effect (P<0.05) on survival rate (SR), absolute weight growth (AWG) and feed conversion (FC). The highest percentage of survival was in treatment D (water level 25 cm) of 95.62%. The average SR value tends to increase with the increasing water content of the rearing medium. The lowest SR value was found in treatment A (water level 10 cm) of 87.38%. The average weight of fish at the beginning of the study was 0.12 ± 0.005 g/head, increasing at the end of the study to 0.88 ± 0.048 g/head. The average absolute lenght growth (ALG) and AWG ranged between 1.83g - 2.31g and 1.83g - 2.31g, respectively. The highest FC value was in treatment A (water level 10 cm) of 1.93 and the lowest FC value was in treatment C and D (water level 20 and 25 cm) of 0.79. Blood glucose values at the beginning of the study ranged from 44.33 mg/dL – 56.00 mg/dL while at the end of the study the blood glucose values decreased and ranged from 40.33 mg/dL – 45.00 mg/dL. The results of the analysis of the water quality of the rearing medium show that the water quality is still in the feasible range for the maintenance of barnet fish
