Abstract

Molecular information using gene variants could support livestock selection to improve livestock productivity. This study aimed to identify the variants in part of the MSTN gene (part of the third exon coding region), a gene known for its significant effect on muscle growth. DNA was isolated from 95 Madura cattle blood samples collected in Pamekasan, Madura. PCR was used to amplify to MSTN region in part of the third exon, and one-way sequencing was conducted to obtain the sequence from the amplified product. Six SNPs were identified. Four SNPs were novel mutations, and the other two SNPs were recorded in the Ensembl database (rs466598800 and rs211583837). Among the identified novel mutations, one mutation in c.1301G/T caused a stop codon for the TT genotype cattle. However, no cattle carried the TT genotype. Three other mutations in c.1324, c.1373, and c.1399 were missense mutations that change the amino acids Q311L, A318P, and L335B, respectively. Most of the cattle had heterozygote genotypes for all the identified SNPs. It could also be noted that there were sequence differences in the part of the third exon identified between Madura cattle and Zebu cattle (by Tantia et al., 2006).

Abstract

Education is the mainkey for improving the quality of civilization and human resources. Education in Indonesia facing a wide range of educational issues, such as collapsing school buildings, children drop out of school because of the expensive cost, teachers who lack of focus on teaching due to restricted honors received, etc. Islam has the solutions for those problems through waqf instrument. Waqf is a typical Islamic financing instrument that can be a solution to the problems of education in Indonesia. This paper attempts to discuss the role of endowments for the development of education, and the steps that must be done so that endowments can be a solution to the problems of education in Indonesia. From the discussion, it can be concluded that Indonesia has a huge potential asset of waqf to be developed, ie the number of waqf land and the very large endowments of money as waqf. Waqf must be managed by an independent charitable organization, professional, trustworthy and focusing on productive forms of waqf.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the renewal of cash waqf regulations in Indonesia, analyze their implementation in the management and development of waqf assets at the Insan Qur’ani Indonesia Foundation in Pamekasan, and identify the socio-economic impacts of such implementation. This research employs a qualitative field research approach with a socio-legal perspective. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving key informants within the foundation. The findings indicate that the renewal of waqf regulations, particularly after the MUI Fatwa (2002), Law No. 41 of 2004, and Government Regulation No. 42 of 2006, has significantly transformed the paradigm of waqf management in Indonesia. The implementation of cash waqf at the Insan Qur’ani Foundation has enhanced community awareness, supported the development of productive waqf in sectors such as agriculture, trade, and livestock, and contributed to expanding access to education and employment opportunities. This study is limited to a qualitative case study approach within a single institution; therefore, future research is recommended to conduct broader empirical studies across different regions and institutions to validate these findings. This study provides a socio-legal analysis of the practical implementation of cash waqf in a pesantren-based institution, offering empirical insights into productive waqf governance at the local level in Indonesia.
