Abstract

Background: The prevalence of stunting among children under five years old in Gunungkidul Regency are 27.9%, and in the Karangmojo II Community Health Center work area are 30.25% or 337 children under five years old. Stunting that occurs in children under five years old can have an impact on decreasing productivity, increasing the risk of degenerative diseases, decreasing intelligence, and increasing the birth of babies with low birth weight in the future. Objective: To examine the risk factors of parents' economic status and family food security against the incidence of stunting in children under five years old  in Bejiharjo Village. Methods: The type of research was an analytical (observational) survey with a case-control study approach. The subjects of this study were children aged 24−59 months. This research was conducted on February 2019. The sampling technique used to determine the area was purposive sampling, and to determine the sample was simple random sampling. The research instruments used were economic and family food security questionnaires. One hundred forty-one children under five years old became the subject in this study. Data were analyzed by using Chi-Square analysis. Results: Bivariate analysis showed economic status of parents (p=0.002; OR=3.182) and family food security (p=0.007; OR=3.164) were risk factor for stunting in children under five years old in Bejiharjo Village. Conclusion: The economic status of parents and family food security act as risk factor for stunting in infants in Bejiharjo Village

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Anemia adalah penyakit yang disebabkan oleh kekurangan asupan zat besi dalam tubuh yang sangat berperan dalam membentuk hemoglobin. Remaja putri merupakan salah satu kelompok yang rentan terhadap anemia. Tujuan: Mengetahui efektivitas media video animasi tentang anemia dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan sikap pada remaja putri SMA di wilayah Sleman. Metode: Penelitian ini adalah quasy experiment selama dua minggu dengan menggunakan pretest and posttest with control group design. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa remaja putri kelas XI MIPA sebanyak 30 siswa. Variabel yang diteliti adalah pengetahuan dan sikap pada kelompok eksperimen (menggunakan video animasi) dan kelompok kontrol (menggunakan leaflet) berdasarkan skor pretest dan posttest. Analisis data menggunakan uji Independent Sample T-test dan uji Paired Sample T-test. Hasil: Terjadi kenaikan skor pengetahuan remaja putri pada kelompok eksperimen sebesar 25,22 dan kelompok kontrol sebesar 20. Demikian pula terjadi kenaikan skor sikap remaja putri pada kelompok eksperimen sebesar 15,94 dan kelompok kontrol sebesar 8,8. Ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada peningkatan pengetahuan dan sikap remaja putri kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol (p<0,005). Kesimpulan: Media video animasi lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan sikap tentang anemia pada siswa remaja putri. Saran: Media tersebut dapat diterapkan untuk penggunaan media pada kegiatan penyuluhan atau konseling di sekolah.

Abstract

Fighting malnutrition should also target school-aged children and adolescents. Development of teaching materials containing nutrition education could be alternative for structured intracurricular education in schools. Objective: To modified elementary school teaching materials and develop teaching tool with nutrition content. Partners: Partners are teaching staff at SDN Kembangjitengan 2 Balecatur Yogyakarta, school that located in the Nutrition Awareness Village (Assisted Village) of Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta. Methods: Development of teaching materials and learning tools with nutrition content following the DeSPIS framework by fulfilling the supply of education materials containing nutrition education. Results: The development of teaching materials containing  education about balanced nutrition and snack foods for school children can be done in teaching materials of grade 1 and grade 5. Importance: This community service can help elementary school teaching staff to educate students regarding balanced nutrition and snack foods for school children in a structured manner in the intracurricular learning program.
