Abstract

MMR and IMR are among the key indicators of a country's state of health. Pregnancy exercise in antenatal class is a health program aimed at reducing maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. The use of appropriate media is essential to convey health education about exercise during pregnancy to the general public. A good quality video and leaflet will provide enough knowledge to increase interest in performing exercises during pregnancy. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of videos and leaflets on the benefits of performing exercises during pregnancy for pregnant women at the Public Health Center in Menamang Kanan Village. Methods This research method is semi-empirical. The population includes pregnant women in the working area of the public health center in Menamang Kanan village. Sampling technique with a total sample of 30 people. The results showed that there was a significant difference in interest in doing exercises during pregnancy after receiving the videos and leaflets (p value = 0.004) with a value of α = 0.05. Accuracy in media selection will support the effectiveness of health education activities carried out. The video provides a real-life experience for pregnant women as they can directly see and hear what is being studied. By unfolding, the presentation of the material is less enjoyable and the absorption is less obtained than the delivery of the material by video. This video is more effective than leaflets in increasing the interest of pregnant women in pregnancy exercise at the public health center in Menamang Kanan village

Abstract

The impact of the lack of interest in WUS in the IVA TEST causes an increase in the prevalence of cervical cancer in women every year as evidenced by some of the exposed data. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the effectiveness of the comparison of leaflets and educational videos on WUS knowledge about the importance of the IVA Test in public health center Bangun City in 2023. Method the research Type of quantitative research with the Pre-experimental design method, with the one group pretest-posttest design. The population is all WUS in 2023 in the working area of the Kota Bangun Health Center, totaling 30 respondents obtained by total sampling. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire, data analysis using the Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney tests. Univariate analysis found that most of the respondents were aged 30-34 years, most had jobs, most had high school/MA education, and most had a number of children. Bivariate analysis of the Wilcoxon test showed a p value = 0.001 (p > 0.05 ) on leaflet media and p value = 0.002 (p > 0.05) on video media. This shows that there is effectiveness between leaflets and educational videos on WUS knowledge about the IVA Test examination, the two variables are different, meaning that video media is more effective than leaflets in increasing WUS knowledge. Cervical cancer is the most common type of malignancy among women. As a result of the lack of knowledge and lack of information causing fear to carry out examinations, efforts to increase mother's knowledge need to be socialized about the importance of IVA tests with health promotion.

Abstract

Premarital sexual behavior has become a significant social issue among adolescents in Indonesia, particularly concerning the high rates of child marriage and unintended pregnancies. Despite efforts to promote Marriage Maturity to reduce these rates, its effectiveness requires further investigation, especially in the context of adolescent motivation to avoid risky sexual behavior. This study aims to explore adolescent motivation to avoid premarital sexual behavior by applying the Protection Motivation Theory (PMT), which involves threat appraisal and coping appraisal in adolescent decision-making to delay early marriage. This research employs a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Informant consisted of adolescents aged 15-19 years in Samarinda City who had received information about marriage maturity. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with six purposively selected Informant using intensity sampling techniques. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and documentation. Collected data were analyzed using QSR NVIVO 12 Pro. The findings reveal that adolescents’ understanding of marriage maturityis still limited, and the threat of premarital sexual behavior is perceived as low by most Informant. Factors such as perceptions of severity adolescents are quite good because they have seen firsthand the impacts of premarital sex. For response efficacy and self-efficacy in delaying the age of marriage, these are relatively high among adolescents exposed to PUP. This is because they have parental and peer support providing information related to PUP. Additionally, social environment, media exposure, and education levels shape adolescents' responses to marriage maturityas a protective measure.

Based on data from Puskesmas Sempaja, only 40% of WUS had undergone IVA screening, with 10% testing positive and one case undergoing cervical cancer treatment. The low screening rate indicated the need for more intensive educational efforts regarding the importance of early detection. The method used in this program involved education and the application of E-DUVA, which provided information about cervical cancer and the significance of IVA screening. This program engaged community leaders, health cadres, and medical personnel in outreach and assistance. Additionally, pre-tests and post-tests were conducted to measure the increase in WUS knowledge after the intervention. The results of the program showed that the use of the E-DUVA application improved WUS understanding and awareness of the importance of IVA screening, with a 90% increase in knowledge. Furthermore, there was a rise in the number of WUS willing to undergo IVA screening. The program's success indicated that technology-based education could be an effective solution in enhancing early cervical cancer screening coverage. In conclusion, the E-DUVA application was effective in raising awareness and participation in IVA screening. It was recommended that this program be sustained with support from healthcare workers, cadres, and local government to further decrease cervical cancer incidence through optimal early detection. Keywords: IVA screening, Cervical cancer, Health education, E-DUVA application, Early detection

Abstract

Introduction: In pregnancy, the mother experiences changes in terms of physical and psychological. One of the most common in the first trimester is emesis gravidarum. Implementation of nausea and vomiting by giving ginger wedang. Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of ginger wedang on emesis during pregnancy. Method: Using a quasy esperiment without control research design. The population in this study is 30 pregnant women in the first trimester. The instrument used in the study used an observation sheet to monitor emesis scores. The statistical analysis used is the Wilcoxon test. Results and Discussion: The administration of ginger wedang intervention reduces nausea and vomiting in emesis gravidarum by relaxing and weakening the muscles of the gastrointestinal tract so that nausea and vomiting have antiemetics, namely essential oils that can block serotonin which causes nausea and vomiting, in addition to the fragrant aroma of ginger if inhaled can make the feeling relaxed so that nausea and vomiting do not occur. Conclusion: the results of the study from 30 respondents were 25 respondents who experienced a decrease in emesis gravidarum and 5 respondents who did not experience a decrease in emesis gravidarum due to lack of cooperation in following the instructions given, namely irregularly drinking ginger wedang and continuing to consume fatty foods (offal, fried foods, chicken with coconut milk sauce and sharp smell).

Abstract

One of the endemic plants of East Kalimantan, kapur (Dryobalanops aromatica) belongs to the Dipterocarpaceae family and is typically used by the locals for essential oils. Solid waste is only used as a natural fertilizer, while the leaves and bark of Kapur (Dryobalanops aromatica) are often only used for the essential oil extracted. Research on solid waste from distilling kapur (Dryobalanops aromatica) has never been done. This investigation aimed to find the possible concentration of secondary metabolite chemicals and antioxidants in the ethanol extract of solid waste from distilling Kapur leaves and bark (Dryobalanops aromatica). The ethanol extract of Kapur leaves and bark (Dryobalanops aromatica) will undergo phytochemical testing utilizing a qualitative test method to ascertain the presence of secondary metabolite chemicals. The ethanol extract of Kapur leaves and bark (Dryobalanops aromatica) will be tested for antioxidant activity against DPPH and ABTS free radicals using a UV Spectrophotometer. The results of the phytochemical analysis showed that the ethanol extracts from the leaves and bark contained alkaloids, flavonoids and tannin. Triterpenoids are only found in the bark extracts, while saponins and steroids are only found in the leaves extracts. Antioxidant activity of Dryobalanops atomatica extract showed that ethanol extract displayed an ability to inhibit DPPH free radical in both the leaves and bark ethanol extracts, with percentages of 83.24% and 94.91% at 25 ppm concentration, respectively. Antioxidant activity of Dryobalanops atomatica extract showed that ethanol extract could inhibit DPPH free radical in the leaves and bark ethanol extracts, with percentages of 83.24% and 94.91% at 25 ppm concentration, respectively.
