Abstract

The Almighty God blesses human with ‘fitrah’ (basic competence) to play their role as the most noble creature. Human can observe their nature and it may lead them to perfection. Misbehaved human are those who do not understand the meaning of ‘fitrah’ correctly. Fitrah controls all human activities and behaviours in the community. This is the reason why human should do something advantageous and be advantageous to others.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze Islamic religious education in public schools in terms of history. The research method used is a qualitative research method with library research (Library research). Source data (primary) in the form of journals and other reading sources relating to the history of Islamic Religious Education in public schools. Data management is entirely "qualitative" because the data encountered is a verbal statement. As for the method of analysis using "inductive" and comparative techniques. The results of this study indicate that Islamic religious education is a "guardian" in achieving national education goals and is also one of the determining factors for student graduation. The implementation of Islamic religious lessons from the colonial period to the reform order era has increasingly had the strength and support of the government in its application in public schools. The strength of Islamic religious education in public schools is further strengthened by the provisions in the law stipulated by the government. Therefore, the existence of religious education in schools will help educators and the government to achieve national education goals.

Abstract

Education in Indonesia has been running on the basis of a duality between general education and religious education, resulting in a separation between secular knowledge and religious knowledge. This has been the case since the colonial Dutch government introduced a secular education system. This journal article will discuss the history of the development of Islamic education in Indonesia, Islamic educational institutions that emerged in the early period of Indonesia, and the progress of Islamic education in Indonesia. This research is entirely literature-based (Library Research), where data is gathered through library resources such as books. This type of research is qualitative in nature, employing the method of historical research, specifically heuristic and data collection techniques through literature review. The data processing in this study involves: (1) Inductive approach, which entails interpreting and analyzing specific data to draw general understandings and conclusions; (2) Deductive approach, which involves interpreting and analyzing general data to derive specific understandings and conclusions; (3) Comparative approach, which entails comparing one set of data with another to draw conclusions. The results of this research indicate that since the early development of Islam, education has been given top priority by the Muslim community in Indonesia due to its significant importance. The interest in Islamization has motivated Muslims to carry out Islamic teachings, even within a very simple system, where teaching is conducted through halaqah sessions held in places of worship such as mosques, prayer rooms, and even in the homes of religious scholars. In the initial stage, Islamic education took place informally. Many Muballighs (Islamic preachers) provided exemplary examples and demonstrated noble character, which attracted the communities they visited to embrace Islam. Abstract

Lembaga Pendidikan Pesantren di Indonesia memiliki peran penting dalam pendidikan agama dan tradisi Islam. Pesantren merupakan lembaga pendidikan yang menggunakan sistem asrama atau pondok, dengan sosok kiai sebagai tokoh sentral dan masjid sebagai pusat kegiatan. Pesantren memiliki beberapa sistem pendidikan, yaitu tradisional, modern, dan komprehensif, yang masing-masing memiliki karakteristik dan metode pembelajaran yang berbeda. Pesantren tradisional (Salâf) mempertahankan bentuk asli dengan mengajar kitab-kitab klasik dalam bahasa Arab, sedangkan pesantren modern (Khalaf) lebih mengadopsi sistem klasikal dan menggunakan kurikulum nasional. Pesantren komprehensif merupakan kombinasi antara pendidikan tradisional dan modern. Sistem pengelolaan pesantren tradisional lebih berada di tangan kiai, sedangkan pesantren modern cenderung memiliki gaya kepemimpinan yang kooperatif. Pesantren juga memiliki peran penting dalam menghasilkan santri yang memiliki pengetahuan agama yang luas. Metode pembelajaran di pesantren mencakup sorogan, bandongan, musyawarah, hafalan, lalaran, metode demonstrasi, dan metode riyâdah. Kurikulum di pesantren terdiri dari studi keagamaan dan studi umum, yang dapat dipisahkan atau digabungkan tergantung pada jenis pesantren yang ada. Secara keseluruhan, lembaga pendidikan pesantren di Indonesia memiliki peran yang signifikan dalam mengembangkan pendidikan agama Islam dan mempertahankan tradisi Islam. Pesantren memiliki beragam sistem pendidikan, metode pembelajaran, dan kurikulum yang mencerminkan perpaduan antara nilai-nilai tradisional dan kemajuan modern.

Abstract

Islamic civilization has progressed because knowledge has received high appreciation from Muslims and the teachings of Islam itself. This is what encouraged the Umayyad and Abbasid caliphates to be very concerned and gave rise to many Islamic educational institutions which became places to study and deepen knowledge and within a certain period of time became the cause of the emergence of many scientists which ultimately gave birth to many works that could be read and became references for scientists. . However, after the glory days of the classical era and Muslim nations lagging behind in the scientific field, both social sciences and science, as well as the shift of the direction of knowledge to the Western world, people who want to explore various branches of science and knowledge will get what they want. look in Western European countries or in Japan. In fact, Islamic religious studies are no longer dominated by Middle Eastern countries but are almost entirely pioneered by Western scientists and scholars. As a result, the science that developed was formed from Western philosophical thought which was influenced by secularism, utilitarianism and materialism. As a result of this, the sacredness of knowledge is lost due to efforts to separate revelation from human reason. Based on this, an idea emerged to bring together the advantages born of human thought with a touch of revelation so that new science is modern but still religious and has the breath of monotheism. This idea became known as the Islamization of science.

Abstract

Konsep islamisasi ilmu membawa pemahaman agama Islam ke dalam ilmu pengetahuan dan ilmu pengetahuan umum, menciptakan pemikiran yang mendalam dan menggabungkan tradisi agama dengan pemikiran ilmiah. Pendidikan multikultur menjadi penting dalam dunia yang semakin terhubung, mengakui keragaman budaya dan keyakinan agama dalam masyarakat. Pendidikan ini membantu menciptakan inklusi, toleransi, dan pemahaman antar kelompok budaya yang berbeda. Madrasah, sebagai institusi pendidikan Islam tradisional, menghadapi tantangan dalam mengintegrasikan ilmu pengetahuan sekuler dengan ajaran agama Islam, memanfaatkan teknologi informasi, meningkatkan kualitas tenaga pendidik, menciptakan lingkungan pembelajaran yang inklusif, dan mengatasi tantangan sosial dan politik yang terkadang berkaitan dengan peran mereka dalam masyarakat. Dengan pemahaman mendalam tentang sejarah pendidikan Islam, kita dapat memahami kompleksitas dan relevansi isu-isu ini dalam masyarakat modern dan di masa depan. Sejarah pendidikan Islam memungkinkan kita untuk memahami peran Islam dalam perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan budaya serta tantangan dan peluang yang dihadapi dalam menghadapi dunia yang semakin terhubung dan berubah dengan cepat.

Abstract

Sejarah pendidikan di Indonesia mengalami progress yang cukup panjang dan cukup rumit, utamanya berkaitan dengan perkembangan kebijakan pendidikan Islam. Pada masa pra kemerdekaan, pendidikan Islam dirundung duka yang mendalam akibat program pemerintahan Belanda yang berupaya mengembangkan sekolah missionaris dan kristenisasi. Sistem dan kebijakan pendidikan ditujukan untuk menjadikan generasi nusantara sebagai pengabdi penjajah Belanda. Setelah terusirnya Penjajah Belanda dari Indonesia pada Maret 1942, kekuasaan atas bangsa Indonesia beralih ke negara Jepang. Kebijakan yang diterapkan pemerintah Jepang berbeda jauh dengan kebijakan kolonial Belanda. Misi utama Jepang adalah menipponkan bangsa dan umat Islam di Indonesia. Namun kebijakan-kebijakan yang diberlakukan oleh Jepang, cukup menguntungkan juga bagi Bangsa Indonesia. Selain bertambah pesatnya perkembangan pendidikan Islam di Indonesia, para pemuda bangsa juga telah terlatih dalam berbagai hal, sehingga semangat nasionalisme untuk mencapai kemerdekaan juga terlihat semakin kuat. Di Masa Orde lama, berbagai upaya pembaharuan dilakukan dalam bidang pendidikan dan pengajaran bagi penduduk Indonesia. Kebijakan era orde lama ini mengupayakan pengakuan pendidikan Islam sebagai bagian dari sistem pendidikan nasional yang berhak mendapatkan fasilitas dari pemerintah. Di masa Orde Baru pendidikan Islam mengalami kemajuan yang cukup signifikan. Dibuktikan dengan dikeluarkannya kebijakan terkait konvergensi dan integrasi pendidikan Islam dan pendidikan umum.

Abstract

The history of the spread of Islamic education in the early days in Indonesia is an integral part of the process of Islamization of the archipelago that has been going on since the 13th century. Islamic education not only functions as a means of spreading religion, but also as a medium for forming the social, cultural, and intellectual character of the community. This process is carried out through various channels, including the role of ulama, Islamic boarding schools, surau, and mosques as centers of education. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of the process of spreading Islamic education in the early days, by examining various supporting factors such as trade routes, cultural acculturation, and the involvement of local communities. A literature review approach is used to explore relevant literature, including historical manuscripts, current research, and other academic documents. The findings show that the success of Islamic education in the early days cannot be separated from the strategy of cultural adaptation, teaching based on local traditions, and the support of the diaspora ulama community in various regions. Previous research, such as that conducted by Azra, emphasized the importance of the ulama network in Southeast Asia and the contribution of traditional educational institutions in building an inclusive and sustainable Islamic education system. The conclusion of this study confirms that Islamic education in the early days in Indonesia played a significant role in shaping the social structure and religious identity of the community. To strengthen its relevance, further study is needed on the transformation of the early Islamic education system and its implications for the challenges of modern education in Indonesia.
