Abstract

This article focuses on humanistic learning at an Islamic private school in Aceh. It uses qualitative descriptive method and takes seven subjects as the sample of the data. It shows that the humanistic learning in Darul Aman Private Madrasah Aliyah of Aceh Besar was implemented through three mechanisms. First, creating a humanist class situation, both physical and non-physical environment (socio-emotional), through a democratic approach. Second, employing a cooperative learning model as the basis of humanistic learning. Third, adopting an effective communication model in creating humanistic learning interactions. This involves cycle-models of communication and interaction of learning: one direction interaction (teacher-student), teacher-learners-learners (their feedback for teachers; students learn from each other) and multi-interaction of the teacher-learner, learner-teacher, learners-learners (interaction in many directions). The implementation of humanistic learning at Darul Aman Private Madrasah Aliyah of Aceh Besar had a problem in the form of limited instructional media resources. Nevertheless, the overall learning process was humanist. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.20414/ujis.v21i1.1161

Abstract

This research focuses on the roles and strategies that Forum Kerukunan Antar Umat Beragama/FKUB (interreligious harmony forum) plays in preserving interreligious harmony and analyzes the barries that it encounters. This study employed a qualitative approach, interviewing 79 informants consisting of the chair and members of FKUB in three districts and cities and the FKUB of Aceh province, as well as religious and community leaders. The research subjects were selected by purposive sampling method, and the data were analyzed using a descriptive approach. The research found that the interfaith harmony in the province of Aceh is well established. There are five strategies for realizing such harmony: tolerance, equality, cooperation, mutual respect, and communication. This study also revealed that the FKUB has carried out its role optimally in creating interfaith harmony in Aceh. However, it experiences some obstacles due to sociological, internal, and external factors. Despite these challenges, the FKUB in Aceh has relatively been able to overcome those obstacles.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of an Islamic Sharia-Based Curriculum (KBSI) at Islamic Colleges (PTKI) in Aceh. This qualitative study used the purposive sampling method to select the participants, including five college leaders and 50 lecturers from UIN Ar-Raniry, IAIN Lhokseumawe, University of Muhammadiyah Aceh, STIS Al-Hilal Sigli, and STAI Teungku Chik Pante Kulu. The data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research shows that the strategy for developing an Islamic Sharia-based Curriculum (KBSI) at PTKI in Aceh is conducted by an integrated model, separated subject curriculum and correlated curriculum. The policy for developing an Islamic sharia-based curriculum at PTKI in Aceh refers to philosophical, sociological, historical, and juridical foundations in the form of Aceh qanuns. It further finds that the development of an Islamic sharia-based curriculum at PTKI in Aceh is an effort to guide the young Acehnese generations who are sharia-compliant and tolerant using special autonomy opportunities. Meanwhile, the difficulties in developing this curriculum are due to Aceh's internal and external PTKI factors. The obstacles are due to internal factors where PTKI leaders do not respond to the opportunities for KBSI reconstruction. On the other hand, obstacles also deal with external factors where collaboration between PTKI and the Aceh government in the context of KBSI reconstruction is less optimal.
