Abstract

Background: Fetal growth in the womb influenced by environmental conditions such as exposure to pesticides, exposure to cigarette smoke influenced by the pregnancy haemoglobin level and maternal age during pregnancy. During pregnancymaternal weight gain must be adequate, according to gestational age. Research objectives to know the factors affecting Newborn Birth weight Methods: Research design by cross sectional approach, for bivariate analysis using chi-square test on @ 5%, while for multivariate analysis using logistic regression Results: there is no correlation between exposure to cigarette smoke and birth weight ( p: 0.073.) Abstract

Background: Supplementation of vitamin A for postpartum mothers is needed to increase the amount of vitamin A in breast milk. Babies who suck the breast milk that contains enough vitamin A will be more immune and rarely suffered from  infectious diseases.  Purpose: The study aimed to determine the association of vitamin A consumption in postpartum mothers with adequacy of breast milk. Methods: This study is  an analytical survey  with cross-sectional design approach, condected within the work area of Mungkid Community Health Center, Magelang Regency with total sampling. The sample were 40 respondents. The data was retrieved by using a checklist observation sheet. Result: Statistical analysis with Spearman Rank test, obtained   p-value of 0.000 so that 0.05, which means there was a significant relationship between consumption of vitamin A in postpartum mothers with adequate breastfeeding.  Concluslion: Consumption of vitamin A in postpartum  mothers correlated  with breast milk adequacy. Midwives are expected to provide health care and health education, regarding vitamin A for postpartum women, and give 2 capsules of vitamin A to  the mother after delivery. Postpartum mothers are suggested to obtain and consume 2 capsules of vitamin A after giving birth, because the benefits are many, especially with the adequacy of breast milk.

Abstract

 Background: Anemia was a disease that attracts worldwide concern and was a very big problem, especially in developing countries. The factor that caused high iron deficiency anemia in pregnant women was the low compliance of pregnant women in consuming iron tablets. Side effects in the form of nausea were the reason pregnant women did not comply with Iron tablets. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the side effects experience and the behavior of pregnant women in consuming Iron tablets. This type of research was quantitative with analytic survey and using a cross sectional approach.Methods: This type of research was quantitative with analytic survey and using a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were pregnant women in the second and third trimesters in the working area of the Puskesmas Tempuran, Magelang Regency based on the February-March 2019 cohort, totaling 177 pregnant women with a sample of 123 pregnant women, calculated using the Slovin formula. The sampling technique used Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. Data analysis used Kendall tau test.Results: The results showed that most of the pregnant women who consumed Iron tablets had side effects experience caused by the behavior of pregnant women in consuming Iron tablets, mostly in the low category.Conclusion: There was a relationship between the side effects experience and the behavior of pregnant women in consuming Iron tablets. It was recommended that pregnant women consume Iron tablets regularly in accordance with the recommendations of health workers so that they can prevent anemia.

Abstract

Background: Children's brain development reaches 50% by the age of four, 30% until the age of eight, 20% until adulthood. Compared to other developments, language is the main key for children to be used as a means of communication. To optimize it, media in the form of big books and hand puppets are needed to stimulate children's language. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of big book and hand puppet media stimulation in the language development of children aged 3-4 years.. Methods: The cluster sampling method was used to determine the number of children to be studied based on a population of 80 children in the playgroup, while proportionate random sampling was used for the distribution of children to be stimulated with big book media and hand puppets based on a sample of 46 children. Results: The results of the Mann-Whitney Test obtained a p-value in each media, namely 0.00 with a mean value of 17.65 in big book media and a mean value of 8.13 in hand puppet media. Conclusion: The use of big book media has proven to be more effective in stimulating language development and being able to captivate children's attention and know the story in the big book which has advantages in terms of size, text, and large big book images compared to other story books.

Abstract

The incidence of malnutrition in toddler requires special attention because nutritional problems that occur since toddlers will have an impact on the further development of toddler life. Nutrition improvement is one way to overcome severely wasted and wasted. One of the efforts to increase toddler's weight is to provide supplementary feeding that is rich in nutrients such as corn.  The nutritional content of sweet corn includes carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and some vitamins and minerals. Corn can be used for daily needs as a easy to modify food in various forms supplementary feeding such as schotle corn.     The aim of this study was to knowing the effectiveness of corn schotle on body weight in toddlers aged 12-24 months at the Puskesmas Kebumen I. The type of research used is quantitative by used desain pre-experiment one group pretest-post test designe. The number of samples was 38 toddlers aged 12-24 months by means of total sampling. The results showed that before being given schotle corn to toddlers aged 12-24 months the median weight was 8.05 kg and after being given schotle corn the median weight increased to 8.15 kg. After going through the nonparametric Wilcoxon test, the p value = 0.000 (p value 0.05), this shows the provision of corn schotle this shows that giving schotle corn is effective for weight gain in toddlers aged 12-24 months.
