Abstract

Glycerol is a derivative product of biodiesel transesterification process to obtain methyl ester. Glicerol derivative made from esterification of glycerol and acetic acid with the aid of a catalyst. In this study acetylation residual glycerol production of biodiesel using silica catalyst sulfate from rice husk ask with parameter ratio of reactants, reaction time, reaction temperature, the amount of catalyst and stirring speed. Results from linear regression analysis showed that the equation with reaction time variations have the highest representation of the data that is 0.9984. This is supported by forecasting analysis to predicted the results of experiments with independent variable reaction times. This indicated by the small value of the error either by using MAD, MSE, MAPE and Tracking Signals. This is mean that the equation with independent variable reaction time can be used to predict the results of a qualitative reaction.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat merupakan kegiatan yang menjadi salah satu pilar tegaknya Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi. Dengan melaksanakan kegiatan ini, institusi pendidikan tinggi secara langsung mendharmakan dirinya memberikan solusi-solusi untuk masyarakat. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilaksanakan dengan program Pendampingan dengan kasus yang disesuaikan dengan kondisi lapangan masing-masing IKM. Lokasi pengabdian adalah sekelompok industri obat yang berada di seputaran Desa Wonokerto, Kecamatan Turi Kabupaten Sleman. Atas saran dan arahan Pemerintah Desa Wonokerto, sebagai sasaran khusus dipilih Kelompok PKK dengan beragam kondisi dan kemampuan produksi dengan harapan Kelompok tersebut dapat menjadi ‘agent of change’ bagi kelompok yang lain. Hasil dari kegiatan pendampingan masyarakat adalah, Kesadaran yang rendah terhdap pentingnya keselamatan kerja, Belum adanya perencanaan produksi yang tersistematis, Proses produksi yang masih menggunakan alat tradisional, Tempat kerja yang kotor dan tidak ergonomis, Luas lantai produksi yang tidak optimal, Utilisasi peraalatan yang rendah, Produktivitas rendah.

Abstract

Desa Wonokerto berada di kaki /lereng gunung merapi yang terletak di Kecamatan Turi Kabupaten Sleman Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Secara geografis, Desa Wonokerto terletak pada ketinggian 400 s/d 900 m dari permukaan air laut. Dengan ketinggian tersebut, sebagian besar wilayahnya adalah pertanian. Salak terutama salak pondoh merupakan salah satu produk pertanian unggulan yang dimiliki oleh desa wonokerto. Metode dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini terdapat tiga tahap yakni: pra pelaksanaan (pemetaan masalah, rekomendasi pendampingan/pelatihan yang diberikan dan koordinasi dengan pihak desa dan UKM tersebut), pelaksanaan (FGD dengan perangkat desa dan ukm untuk mengetahui dengan detail permasalahan dari tiap jenis UKM yang ada, pelatihan dan penjelasan mengenai konsep 5S (Seiri, Seiso, Seiton, Sheiketsu, Shitsuke), implemetasi pelaksanaan 5S dan pasca pelaksanaan (monitoring). Output pada pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah: adanya implementasi 5S dalam proses produksi melalui penetaan ulang area produksi, adanya logistic book untuk setiap material yang digunakanWonokerto.[Wonokerto Village is located at an altitude of 400 s/d 900 m above sea level. With these altitudes, most of the area is farming. Salak especially salak pondoh is one of the leading agricultural products owned by the village wonokerto. Methods of community service are three stages: pre-implementation (problem mapping, recommendations of mentoring/training provided and coordination with village and SMEs), implementation (FGDs with government and SME) to find out details of the problems of each type of SME, training and explanation of 5S (Seiri, Seiso, Seiton, Sheiketsu, Shitsuke) related rules, Implementation of 5S  and  post-implementation (monitoring).Outputs on community service are: Implementation of 5S with relayout the production area, logistic book for every production material.]

Abstract

Dye sensitized solar cells (DSSC) photoelectrodes were fabricated using titanium oxide (TiO2) and sensitized with the krokot extract dye. This study investigated the effect of dye adsorbtion time to an efficiency of the solar cells. The fabrication cells immersed with krokot extract dye for 1, 8 and 26 hours. The photochemical performance of the DSSC showed that the open circuit voltage (Voc) were 0.33, 0.036 and 0.27 V with short photocurrent density (Isc) 8.00 x 10-5, 6.80 x 10-7 and 3.10 x 10-4. The photo-to-electric conversion efficiency of the DSSC reached 4.63 x 10-3 % for 26 hours adsorbtion time.

Abstract

The electronic transition processes of α-mangostin and β-mangostin as dye compounds in DSSC and their ability to transfer electrons to semiconductors have been studied in theory. The research was carried out computationally using the NwChem application. The methods used are Density Functional Theory (DFT) for structure optimization and Time-Dependent DFT (TD-DFT) for electronic transitions. The results showed that the energy of HOMO β-mangostin was lower that it was more stable or easier to form bonds with semiconductors. Likewise, its LUMO energy is lower than α-mangostin that it is easier to inject electrons into the semiconductor. The energy difference of HOMO-LUMO β-mangostin is smaller than α-mangostin. This shows that β-mangostin is more easily excited or more efficient in exciting solar energy to convert it into electricity. This is consistent with the molecular spectra where λmaxβ-mangostin is at a higher wavelength. Orbital analysis shows electron injection of α-mangostin and β-mangostin into the semiconductor via double O atoms in each molecule. The injection is influenced by the bond length, where the bond length of α-mangostin to TiO2 is smaller than that of β-mangostin to TiO2.

Abstract

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) was fabricated using natural dyes extracted from krokot (Portulaca Oleracea. L). The effect of dye acidity was investigated on natural pH extract, 5.00, 4.00 and 3.00 of pH. The efficiency and stability DSSCs as a function of the dye acidity was studied. The result of the UV-Vis shows that the absorption of wave-length from dye extract of krokot is located in the visible region with the absorbance peak in 410.5 nm and 664.5 nm which are the peak of chlorophyll. The efficiency of extract krokot dye sensitized solar cells was decreasing  6.88 x 10-3 %  to  0.42 x 10-3 % when pH of the dye was adjusted from 6.27 to 3.00. DSSCs stability was also decreased look for efficiency loss from 5.27% to 97.49% in the same conditions.

Abstract

The solar cell is formed by a sandwich structure, in which two electrodes flank the primary electrolyte that is containing redox I-/based on PEG (Polyethylene Glycol). The working-electrode which is TiO2 layer on an ITO glass substrate is sensitized with krokot dye as the electron donor. The counter electrode is a layer of carbon. The fabrication cell is immersed with the krokot dye with 40°C, 50°C, 60°C extract temperature. The result of the UV-Vis shows that the absorption of wave-length from dye extract of krokot is located in the visible region with the absorbance peak in 420,5 nm and 665,5 nm which are the peak of chlorophyll. For the UV-Vis solid system, there are the highest band gap  in  50°C extract temperature that make the capability of absorption toward UV spectrum is large. Furthermore, in the functional group analysed by FT-IR, there are shiften-carbonil and hydroxyl group after they are sensitized. From the current and voltage test with I-V meter keithley 2400 is resulted that on the 50°C extract temperature produces the highest efficiency of reaches which is 2.63 x 10-3 %.

Abstract

PREPARATION OF SILICA SULFATE CATALYST FROM RICE HUSK ASH AND CATALYTIC TEST IN GLYCEROL ESTHERIFICATION REACTION WITH ACETIC ACID ANHIDROUS. Synthesis of Silica Sulfate catalyst from rice husk ash and used as catalyst for esterification reaction of glycerol with acetic acid anhydrous has done. Catalyst characterized using Infra-Red Spectrophotometer, X-Ray Diffraction and measurement of surface acidity while reaction product characterized using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer. Influence of catalyst acidity, reaction time and re-addition of acetic acid anhydrous studied by glycerol conversion and selectivity value of triacetin yielded. Infra-Red spectrophotometer and X-Ray Diffraction analysis of catalyst showed that synthesized catalyst is an amorphous silica sulfate, while esterification analysis using gas chromatography-mass spectrometer showed a triacetin product. Using of silica sulfate catalyst in esterification reaction of glycerol could convert glycerol up to 77% and SS-20 catalyst could give triacetin selectivity value up to 98%. Influence of catalyst acidity doesn’t showed significant influence of glycerol converting value. However, increasing of reaction time could increase glycerol converting and triacetin selectivity. Re-addition of acetic acid anhydrous could increase its selectivity value up to 100%. Keywords: acetic acid anhydrous; glycerol; triacetin Abstrak Silika sulfat telah dibuat dari abu sekam padi dan digunakan sebagai katalis dalam reaksi esterifikasi gliserol dengan anhidrida asam asetat. Katalis dikarakterisasi dengan spektrofotometer infra merah dan difraksi sinar-X sedangkan produk reaksi dikarakterisasi dengan kromatografi gas spektrometri massa. Pengaruh keasaman katalis, waktu reaksi dan penambahan kembali anhidrida asam asetat dipelajari terhadap konversi gliserol dan nilai selektivitas triacetin yang terbentuk. Hasil analisis spektrofotometer infra merah dan difraksi sinar-X terhadap katalis menunjukkan bahwa katalis yang disintesis berupa silika sulfat yang berbentuk amorf, sedangkan hasil analisa terhadap produk esterifikasi menggunakan kromatografi gas spektrometri massa menunjukkan adanya produk triacetin. Penggunaan katalis silika sulfat pada reaksi esterifikasi gliserol dapat mengkonversi gliserol sebesar 77%, dan untuk katalis SS-20 dapat memberikan nilai selektifitas triacetin sebesar 98%. Pengaruh keasaman katalis tidak memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap nilai konversi gliserol. Namun semakin lama waktu reaksi nilai konversi gliserol dan selektivitas triasetin meningkat dan penambahan kembali anhidrida asam asetat dapat meningkatkan nilai selektivitas hingga 100%. Abstract

Telah dilakukan sintesis zeolit dari abu dasar batubara dan aplikasinya sebagai adsorbenuntuk logam merkuri (II). Zeolit disintesis dengan metode alkali hidrotermal dan dikarakterisasi menggunakan Spektrofotometer FTIR dan Difraktometer Sinar-X (XRD). Kajian adsorpsi zeolit terhadap logam merkuri (II) dilakukan dengan variasi pH,waktu kontak dan konsentrasi merkuri. Karakterisasi FTIR menunjukkan bahwa zeolit telah terbentuk dengan serapan pspesifik pada bilangan gelombang 457,31 cm-1.Hasil karakterisasi XRD menunjukkan bahwa zeolit hasil sintesis mempunyai struktur material zeolit faujasit yang ditunjukkan dengan difraksi utama pada 6,29°; 26,89°; dan 31,19°. Adsorpsi zeolit terhadap logam merkuri (II) optimum terjadi pada pH 6, kesetimbangan adsorpsi cenderung mengikuti pola isoterm Freundlich dengan konstanta yaitu 1,803 x 10-4 mol/gram dan kinetika adsorpsi cenderung mengikuti persamaan pseudo orde dua dengan konstanta laju reaksi (k) yaitu 8,687 x 10-3(g/mg min).
