Abstract

Mass media was born as a tool or channel used to disseminate information to a wide audience, usually including a large number of individuals or the general public. Mass media is media intended for the masses. In journalism, mass media broadcast news or information, also known as the press. In presenting news, aspects of freedom and accuracy are very important to pay attention to. News must be independent, not a form of advertising, and delivered through the media the masses as active intermediaries and disseminating factual and actual information to the public. In an era of increasingly sophisticated technology, the dissemination of information has become faster and easier to access by anyone and anywhere via gadgets. News must first be careful and precise or deep journalistic language must accurate. Apart from being accurate and precise, news must also be complete, fair and balanced. Newsworthy elements include: Accurate: Reporters must be thorough in spelling, numbers, dates, and ages, and double-check information to ensure details and general impression are correct; Complete, Fair and Balanced: Accuracy of facts must be accompanied by a fair and balanced presentation, reporting what actually happened; Objective: News must be written objectively, reflecting reality without partiality or prejudice; Concise and Clear: News must be easy to understand, straight to the point, and well structured; Warm: News should be new and relevant, emphasizing elements of time and current events.

Abstract

The Rempang incident in Batam in September 2023 proved that rejection of industrial installation by local communities prevails. Learning from this incident, it can be assumed that even the ongoing industry still contains an element of vulnerability regarding its continuation specifically its relationship with the surrounding community. The concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) is considered unable enough to fully answer the mutual relationship between industry and the surrounding community. In Pasir Putih Village, Sawangan, Depok, there are three natural attractions industries, namely Pondok Zidan, De Kandang, and Pasir Putih Tourist Park. This is where the Publishing Study Program, Graphics and Publishing Engineering Department, Politeknik Negeri Jakarta (Jakarta State Polytechnic) considers it necessary to provide assistance to a group of youth GP Ansor Ranting Pasir Putih as a partner in community service activities to strengthen the integration of local communities and companies or the industrial world which is carried out by utilizing the social license to operate (SLO) theory. The service method is community development (comdev) based on partner problems. The results of this community service include partner communities starting to realize the importance of harmonizing with industry, being able to accept the existence of industry and knowing its role and position in the sustainability of industry in its area.

Abstract

Uzlifail Jannah Islamic Boarding School was established a few years ago. It needs some activities to support its future development. One possible activity that can be taken is to strengthen public brand awareness and public trust either from internal or external society. Currently, this Islamic boarding school runs a number of social media platforms i.e. Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. However, it has no strategic mapping to involve its group members both internally and externally. Henceforth, the Publishing study program of Politeknik Negeri Jakarta builds a collaborative network with this Islamic boarding school to arrange a community engagement activity (pengabdian masyarakat). Some methods have been used ranging from sharing of understanding on organizing internal media to practice of writing and interviewing. Its result is that students (santri) and teachers (ustadz/dzah) grab new knowledge to develop their internal media.   Pondok Pesantren Uzlifatil Jannah yang baru berdiri beberapa tahun ini membutuhkan sejumlah kegiatan yang dapat mendukung perkembangan dan kemajuan pondok pesantren. Salah satunya adalah meningkatkan brand awareness dan kepercayaan baik dari publik eksternal maupun publik internal. Kegiatan untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut adalah publikasi melalui media. Media yang saat ini digunakan oleh pondok pesantren adalah media sosial, seperti Instagram, Facebook dan YouTube. Media sosial ini bertujuan untuk menjangkau publik esksternal. Namun, Pondok Pesantren Uzlifatil Jannah belum memiliki strategi untuk merangkul publik internal untuk mendapatkan dukungan dan kepercayaan dari publik internal. Atas dasar itu, salah satu tujuan kegiatan pelatihan ini adalah meningkatkan ilmu dan kemampuan civitas Pondok Pesantren dalam mengelola media internal. Program Studi (Prodi) Penerbitan, Jurusan Teknik Grafika dan Penerbitan (TGP) bekerja sama dengan pondok pesantren ini untuk melakukan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat. Serangkaian metode dilakukan mulai dari sharing pemahaman tentang pengelolaan media internal hingga praktikum wawancara dan penulisan berita. Hasilnya, peserta dari kalangan santri dan ustadz/dzah dari pesantren ini mendapatkan informasi baru guna mengembangkan media internal mereka.
