Abstract

The seagrass beds are the spawning, nursery, and the feeding ground for some oceanic biota. It’s also can trapped the sediment and stabilized the substrate so the waters looks clear. Beside those abilities, seagrasses are also can store the carbon. The research was conducted in karang tirta’s coastal area, padang city to analyze the carbon stock of seagrass that stored within their biomass. The biomass was analyzed by harvesting the seagrass at transect 25x25cm, while the carbon stock was analyzed by using walkley & black method. Seagrass beds in karang tirta’s coastal has 14,1 ha (142.546,36 m2) distribution area and it’s stored 18,05 tons of carbon. based on these result the seagrass beds in karang tirta’s coastal area has stored 1,2 tons C/ha. the highest carbon stock has found in the below ground, especially in their rhizomes.

Abstract

Seagrass bed on Karang Tirtas's coast consist of two species of seagrass namely Thalassia hemprichii and Enhalus acoroides. Thalassia hemprichii is the most dominating species with a frequency to be found about 96,3% while the frequency of Enhalus acoroides is 3,7%. Seagrass has ± 14 hektar distribution area with the pattern of distribution in group. The coverage of seagrass in Karang tirta's coastal included into poor cathegory. Meanwhile, the seagrass bed is one of the important ecosystem in the coastal area that are habitat for some other species and carbon sinc. Physical chemical factor's water of Karang Tirta's coastal area can support the growth of seagrass well except the temperature factor that is high.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan menghasilkan multimedia interaktif terintegrasi etnosains pada materi sistem peredaran darah untuk peserta didik kelas VIII SMP/MTs. Jenis penelitian ini yakni Research and Development (R&D) melalui penggunaan model pengembangan 4-D yang mencakup atas empat tahap yakni define/pendefinisian, design/perancangan, develop/pengembangan dan dessiminate/penyebaran. Instrumen yang dipakai pada penelitian ini yakni pedoman wawancara, angket observasi, lembar validasi dan lembar praktikalitas. Instrumen pedoman wawancara dan angket observasi digunakan untuk menentukan permasalahan utama yang dihadapi oleh guru dan peserta didik di sekolah. Wawancara dilakukan kepada dua orang guru IPA di SMPN 03 Solok Selatan. Kemudian angket observasi disebarkan kepada 75 orang siswa di sekolah tersebut yang berasal dari 3 kelas berbeda. Multimedia interaktif yang telah dirancang divalidasi oleh tiga orang validator yang berasal dari dosen jurusan Pendidikan IPA FMIPA UNP dengan memakai angket validitas. Uji praktikalitas dilaksanakan oleh dua orang guru IPA dan 25 orang peserta didik kelas VIII SMPN 03 Solok Selatan dengan menggunakan angket praktikalitas. Hasil dari penelitian ini didapatkan bawa validitas produk berupa multimedia interaktif yang dikembangkan terdapat pada kategori yang sangat valid dalam nilai 92,26%. Hasil uji praktikalitas pada guru berada pada kategori sangat praktis dengan nilai 94,92% dan uji praktikalitas pada peserta didik terdapat pada kategori yang sangat praktis dengan nilai 81,83%. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh bisa diambil kesimpulan dimana multimedia interaktif terintegrasi etnosains pada materi sistem peredaran darah yang dihasilkan memenuhi kategori valid dan praktis.

Abstract

This study examined the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on eighth-grade students’ problem-solving skills in science learning, particularly on the topic of the human digestive system. A quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design was employed. The sample consisted of two classes selected through purposive sampling: one experimental class taught using the PBL model and one control class taught using conventional instruction. Data were collected using an essay test administered as pretest and posttest, supported by observation sheets and a student response questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results indicate that students taught using the PBL model achieved significantly higher problem-solving skills than those taught using conventional methods. In addition, the implementation of the PBL model was categorized as very well implemented, and students showed very positive responses toward the learning process. These findings suggest that the Problem-Based Learning model is effective and feasible to improve students’ problem-solving skills in science learning and can be recommended as an alternative instructional approach in junior high school science classrooms.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in science learning outcomes between groups of students who participated in learning with the Reading to Learn (R2L) model and direct learning, by analyzing the literacy skills of class IX students at Junior High School in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra. The study population was all students of class IX and the sample class was selected by purposive sampling technique, so that class IX-6 was obtained as the experimental group and class IX-4 as the control group, with a sample of 56 students. This research is a quasi-experimental research with a pretest and posttest group design pattern. The data collected is a test of learning outcomes which are analyzed quantitatively to measure students' scientific literacy skills which are grouped into 3 aspects, namely numerical, conceptual, and multidimensional aspects. The instrument used is a scientific literacy test in the form of 10 description questions. The results show that the research hypothesis H1 is accepted because the table shows that t count > t table. This hypothesis test found that the application of the Reading to Learn (R2L) approach had an effect on students' scientific literacy skills. While the results of the experimental group N-Gain was 0.44 or 44% in the medium category (less effective). So we look at some of the factors causing it by giving questionnaires to students. Based on statistical calculations, the scores for each indicator in the questionnaire are 87.5% of students using local languages in daily conversation, reading time of 10-30 minutes is 46.88%, and courses or tutoring outside school hours are 28.13%.

Abstract

This research investigates the impact of utilizing the Environmental Literacy Learning Model for Exploring the Natural Surroundings (LiteLJAS) through Wayground on the motivation toward science education for seventh-grade students at SMPN 28 Padang. The research employed a quantitative method featuring a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design, which included both an experimental group and a control group. Data gathering was conducted using a motivational survey for learning, an observation form for carrying out the learning process, and a feedback questionnaire for students. The collected data was evaluated through a normality test, a homogeneity test, a t-test, and a t'-test. The findings indicated that the execution of learning was classified in the exceptional tier, reaching a rate of 96%. According to the outcomes of the hypothesis test, the computed t value exceeded the t table value (3.042 > 2.008), indicating that applying the LiteLJAS model in conjunction with Wayground significantly affects students' motivation for science learning. Moreover, students' reactions to learning were categorized as excellent with a rate of 99%. As a result, combining the LiteLJAS model with Wayground has been effective in enhancing students' motivation to learn. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran Literasi Lingkungan Jelajah Alam Sekitar (LiteLJAS) yang didukung oleh Wayground terhadap motivasi siswa kelas VII dalam belajar IPA di SMPN 28 Padang. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan Non Equivalent Control Group Design, yang mencakup kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Informasi didapatkan melalui kuesioner motivasi belajar, lembar observasi proses pembelajaran, dan kuesioner respon siswa. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis melalui uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, serta uji t dan t’. Temuan penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa pelaksanaan pembelajaran tergolong sangat baik dengan persentase mencapai 96%. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa nilai thitung lebih besar dari ttabel (3,042 > 2,008), sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan model LiteLJAS yang didukung Wayground memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar IPA siswa. Di samping itu, tanggapan siswa terhadap pembelajaran juga termasuk sangat positif dengan persentase mencapai 99%. Dengan demikian, penerapan model LiteLJAS yang diintegrasikan dengan Wayground terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar peserta didik.

Abstract

The increasing implementation of distance learning has highlighted the need for accessible and effective digital learning media that support students' independent learning. However, many students continue to experience difficulties due to limited internet access and challenges in understanding learning materials during online instruction. This study aimed to develop an Android-based science learning application on the topic of temperature and heat for seventh-grade junior high school students and to evaluate its validity and practicality. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Four-D (4D) model, consisting of the Define, Design, and Develop stages, while the Disseminate stage was not conducted. Data were collected using validity and practicality questionnaires. The developed application was evaluated by expert validators, teachers, and students. The results showed that the application achieved a validity score of 91.67%, categorized as very valid. In addition, the practicality scores were 83.75% from teachers and 86.75% from students, both classified as very practical. These findings indicate that the Android-based science learning application is a valid and practical instructional medium for supporting distance learning and facilitating independent learning on the topic of temperature and heat among junior high school students.
