Abstract

One of the strategies in rehabilitation of gold mining tailings is used pioneer trees. Pericopsis mooniana is one of pioneer types which capable to adapt to marginal and unproductivel lands. The objective of this research were to find out the growth and physical quality of P. mooniana seedling on artisanal gold mining tailings with the addition of compost elephant dung and humic acid. Growth observation and physical quality assessment were done to P. mooniana seedlings aged 3 months and 10 days, placed on polybag (15/7.5 cm x 20 cm). The experimental design used a completely randomized design with six growth media as treatments and five replications, (1) topsoil 100%, (2) talings 100%, (3) tailings 50% + elephant dungs 50%, (4) tailings 50% + elephant dungs 50% + humic acid (2,000 ppm), (5) tailings 75% + elephant dungs 25%,(6) tailings 75% + elephant dungs 25% + (humic acid (2,000 ppm).  Data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance followed with a Least Significant Difference test. The stages of the research were: seedling activity, growth observations and physical quality assessment seedlings. The parameter observed were percentage of life, increment height and diameter, number of leaf, leaf area, number of nodules, total dry weight, robustness, ratio of leaves and roots, and seed quality index. The result showed that P. mooniana seedlings were able to grow and adapt to artisanal gold mining tailings with a seedlings quality indexs value of more than (0.09), but the addition of ameliorant did not have any impact yet.

Abstract

Pemahaman tentang ilmu teknik menjadi kebutuhan siswa untuk dapat mengikuti perkembangan teknologi. Teknologi berkembang pesat pada perguruan tinggi melalui program riset dan inovasinya. Program pengabdian ini memiliki tujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi siswa melalui pelatihan pengajaran yang efektif serta kunjungan laboratorium di Teknik Mesin Universitas Lampung guna meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa tentang teknologi terbarukan yang sedang dikembangkan di perguruan tinggi. Program ini dirancang untuk memberikan pemahaman konseptual dan pengalaman praktis kepada siswa, khususnya dalam bidang teknik dan pembelajaran aplikatif. Metode yang digunakan meliputi penyampaian materi terkait strategi pembelajaran efektif, diskusi interaktif, serta praktik langsung melalui observasi dan demonstrasi alat di laboratorium. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman siswa terhadap metode belajar yang efektif serta bertambahnya wawasan mengenai dunia teknik mesin dan penerapannya di industri yang ditunjukan pada hasil pretest dan posttest, nilai pretest didapatkan nilai mean 46,0 dan posttest 72,0 kemudian didapatkan nilai t-Test nya sebesar 3,14 dan p-value sebesar 0,012. Nilai p-value sebesar 0,012 menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil pretest dan posttest dengan memiliki tingkat kepercayaan ~98,8%. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa perlakuan atau intervensi yang diberikan memiliki pengaruh nyata terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar siswa. Kegiatan ini juga meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan minat siswa untuk melanjutkan pendidikan ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi di bidang teknik.

Abstract

The growing accumulation of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plastic waste and the limited competitiveness of the local paving block industry in Kedaung, Bandar Lampung, have created an urgent need for innovative and community-based solutions. This study aims to implement and evaluate a participatory technology transfer program for producing LDPE-reinforced paving blocks while ensuring optimal financial feasibility and environmental sustainability. The community service program was conducted on February 7, 2026, using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach that actively involved local residents throughout the planning, implementation, and evaluation processes. The program consisted of several integrated activities, including a technology demonstration, hands-on production training, a business feasibility workshop, and the initiation of a community-based production unit. The results indicated that the established community business group achieved a projected profit margin of 21.2%, with a break-even point of approximately 220 paving block units per month. In addition to enhancing local production capacity and entrepreneurial skills, the program contributed to the achievement of five Sustainable Development Goals. Overall, the integrated empowerment model demonstrated strong financial viability, environmental benefits, and potential applicability as a replicable circular economy initiative for other urban communities facing similar waste management and economic challenges

Abstract

This research aims to design and create a sms-based motor vehicle security system with an ATMega 8535 microcontroller. This research utilizes hand phone technology and microcontroller. Making this tool has an economical price to secure motorized vehicles. Important prototypes in making this tool are the ATMega 8535 microcontroller, GSM Modem and HP. In making this tool the first thing to make is to make a microcontroller program for the controller. Making this program uses CV Avr soft ware (Code Vision Avr). After the program is finished, the program is downloaded to the microcontroller. Control is done by the microcontroller when it gets input. The result of this research is to get a vehicle security system that is integrated by the ignition system on a motorcycle. The process of securing a motorized vehicle when it is stolen is, the security system will send sms information that the motorcycle is stolen, the alarm sounds and the ignition system is cut off. To turn off the alarm and start the motorcycle, the owner sends an SMS with the format *ALOF# to the security system and starts the motorcycle normally (Pull the front brake three times then position the key to ON mode).
