Abstract

Western intellectuals are so concerned about religious studies. Their arguments are the subject of criticism and studies that continue to this day. the debate is about the position of religion whether as a way of life, belief, belief in something that is supernatural or religion as an object of study that can be interpreted with a logical scientific approach. This article will answer questions regarding the interpretation of religion by orientalists. Some names such as Max Muller to Charles Adams contributed thought. By using a comparative library analysis, the writer maps the ideas, ideas, and concepts of western scholars to the meaning of religion and the results of each orientalist express their thoughts that religion can function in accordance with the approach used, be it cultural, social, political , and economics. Keywords: Orientalist; West; Religion; Scientific; Confidence.  Intelektual Barat begitu memberikan perhatian terhadap studi agama. argumentasi mereka menjadi bahan kritikan dan kajian yang berlangsung terus menerus hingga hari ini. perdebatannya ada pada soal kedudukan agama apakah sebagai pedoman hidup, kepercayaan, keyakinan atas sesuatu yang gaib sifatnya ataukah agama sebagai objek studi yang bisa di maknai dengan pendekatan ilmiah yang logis. Artikel ini akan menjawab pertanyaan berkenaan dengan pemaknaan atas agama oleh para orientalis. Beberapa nama seperti Max Muller sampai Charles Adams memberikan sumbangsih pemikiran. Dengan menggunakan analisis kepustakaan yang komparatif, penulis melakukan pemetaan atas ide, gagasan, serta konsep para sarjanawan barat terhadap pemaknaan atas agama dan didapati hasilnya masing-masing orientalis mengemukakan pikirannya bahwa agama bisa berfungsi sesuai dengan pendekatan yang digunakan, baik itu budaya, sosial, politik, maupun ekonomi. Kata kunci: Orientalis; Barat; Agama; Ilmiah; Keyakinan

Abstract

Pembentukan Lembaga Interfaith di Indonesia khususnya yang dinisiasi oleh Negara punya sejarah panjang. Konflik berlatar isu Agama yang terjadi rentang 1960-an hingga memasuki fase 1990-an, menuntut pemerintah mengeluarkan banyak regulasi sebagai upaya untuk mewujudkan kerukunan antarumat beragama. Namun, situasi politik dan keamanan yang tidak menentu membuat usaha ini banyak menemukan kendala. Tulisan ini menggunakan pendekatan Historis-politis terhadap sebab munculnya lembaga dialog antaragama yang dibentuk Negara. Penulis membaginya kedalam beberapa fase, dari Orde lama hingga era reformasi. Pemetaan, model, strategi dialog setiap fase mengalami perubahan-perubahan, hasilnya pun pasang-surut. Hingga kini Lembaga-lembaga dialog tersebut masih tetap eksis, ada yang mampu menjalankan fungsinya, tidak sedikit juga yang gagal. Isu kerukunan antarumat beragama sangat krusial sebab berpengaruh pada stabilitas kehidupan bermasyarakat, karenanya ia menjadi perhatian banyak pihak, termasuk Negara.Kata Kunci: Lembaga Interfaith, Konflik, Kerukunan, Negara, Agama.  There is a long history of the establishment of interfaith Institutions in Indonesia, especially one initiated by the state. Religious issue based conflicts that happened from 1960s through 1990s have pushed government to publish many regulations as an effort to establish interfaith harmony. However, the unstable political and security situation provided many obstacles. This article used historical-political approach to identify the reasons behind the institution for interfaith dialogue formed by the State. The witer put them into several phases, started from the Old Order to the Reformasi Era. The mapping, model, strategy of dialogue changed through phases; therefore, the results show the high and low tides. Until today those institutions still exists although some of them have failed to function. The issue of interfaith harmony is crucial for it influences the stability of society. Thus it attracts interests from various parties, including the State.Keywords: Interfaith institution, Conflict, Harmony, State and Religion.

Abstract

Abstrak Dalam konteks sosial agama tidak semata dimaknai sebagai ritus liturgi, doa dan pengamalan mistik yang bersifat personal dan unik, namun agama juga hadir dengan fungsi manifest dan latent yang kadang tidak dikehendaki oleh pemeluknya sendiri. Di satu sisi, agama dapat menjadi sarana integrasi sosial, mengikat solidaritas sesama penganutnya dalam jamaah, gereja, sangha, dan komunitas-komunitas keagamaan. Akan tetapi para penganut agama punya problem yang cukup mendasar ditengah-tengah kemajemukan. Problem itu adalah ketidaksiapan untuk berbeda. Ini disebabkan oleh berbagai hal diantaranya; sejarah dan karakter masing-masing orang, jenis kelamin, serta pandangan hidup yang termasuk didalamnya adalah pemahaman keagamaan. Aksi-aksi kekerasan atas nama agama yang sering terjadi dikarenakan adanya orang atau kelompok-kelompok yang merasa terusik dengan orang atau kelompok lain yang berbeda. Namun beberapa indikasi terjadinya clash ini bukan hanya soal agama ada faktor lain, tapi paper ini akan membatasi masalah dengan inti pembahasan pada soal bagaimana keterkaitan antara pemahaman keagamaan dengan tindak kekerasan atas nama agama dari sisi historisnya, pengertian dan pengelompokkan pemahaman keagamaan, serta jenis-jenis kekerasan melalui data hasil riset yang tujuannya untuk melihat apa hubungan antara pemahaman keagamaan dengan tindak kekerasan atas nama agama.Kata Kunci : Legitimasi dan Kekerasan, Ideologi, Agama, Varian dan Tipologi Abstract:In the social context, religion is not merely interpreted as liturgical rites, prayers and mystical practices that are personal and unique, but religion also comes with manifest and latent functions that are sometimes not desired by the adherents themselves. On the one hand, religion can be a means of social integration, binding the solidarity of fellow adherents in the congregation, church, sangha, and religious communities. However, adherents of religion have a pretty basic problem in the midst of pluralism. The problem is not being ready to be different. This is caused by various things including; the history and character of each person, gender, and view of life included in it is religious understanding. Acts of violence in the name of religion that often occur due to the presence of people or groups who feel disturbed by different people or groups. However, some indications that this clash is not just a matter of religion, there are other factors, but this paper will limit the problem with the core discussion on how the relationship between religious understanding and violence in the name of religion in terms of its historical, understanding and grouping of religious understanding, as well as the types violence through research data whose purpose is to see what is the relationship between religious understanding and violence in the name of religion.Keywords: Legitimacy and Violence, Ideology, Religion, Variants and Typology.

Abstract

Gama in the Mongondow Muslim community is considered mandatory to determine a marriage’s validity. Therefore, this study aims to examine in depth the relevance of customary and Islamic law to the tradition of gama in the Muslim community of Mongondow, North Sulawesi. The study was conducted in the Bolaang Mongondow area of North Sulawesi using a juridical-sociological approach. Data were collected using observation, interviews with traditional and religious leaders, as well as document study. The steps in data processing include data collection, presentation, reduction, and verification. Furthermore, analysis was carried out using the concept of urf and receptie a contrario. The results showed that even though the gama tradition predates the arrival of Islam in Bolaang Mongondow area, its implementation has Islamic values, otherwise known as urf shahih. The community upholds the noble values of traditions passed down by their ancestors. Islam teaches that the gama tradition has a symbol of respect for women. This indicates that customary and Islamic law play a joint role in shaping the life of the Bolaang Mongondow people. Conclusively, respect for the existence of women is a noble value in the Customary law of the Mongondow people.
