Abstract

AbstractThe aim of this research is to compare the effect of two methods in improving students’ writing skill. Those were between conventional method that was usually used in that school and Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) technique. This research was conducted at SMAN 15 Tangerang by using experimental research. The population of the research was 321 students and the sample was 76 students from the tenth grade. The data collected by the pre test, treatment and post test. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of the research showed that t count (2,72) was higher than ttable (2). It could be concluded that there was a significant effect of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC)Technique in teaching writing recount text on the students’ writing skill. Then, CIRC technique could help students to focus and develop their product writing.Keywords: Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition, CIRC, experimental research, writing skillAbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan efektifitas dua metode pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa, yaitu antara metode konvensional dan Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC). Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMAN 15 Tangerang dengan metode penelitian eksperimen. Populasi penelitian ini adalah 321 siswa kelas sepuluh dan 76 siswa dipilih sebagai sampel. Data penelitian ini dieoleh dari pre test, perlakuan, dan post-test. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa thitung (2,72) lebih tinggi dari ttabel (2). Dari hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) memberikan efek signifikan tuntuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks recount pada siswa. Selain itu, teknik CIRC membantu siswa lebih fokus dan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulisnya.Kata kunci: Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition, CIRC, penelitian eksperimen, kemampuan menulis

Abstract

Abstract It goes without saying that vocabulary mastery has a pivotal role in language learning. The more vocabulary the students acquire, the easier the students master the language skills. However, to acquire vocabulary is not an easy task for most students. To acquire vocabulary means that learners need to understand the aspects of vocabulary such as meaning, grammar, pronunciation, and spelling. However, the subjects of this study found it difficult to understand all the aspects. To overcome the problem, teacher needs to explore the use of teaching media. One of media that can be used in teaching vocabulary is song, but to make it more fun and practical, teacher can make use of online music player Joox, one of mostly used music player. This study explores the use of Joox to teach English vocabulary and describe students' responses to the teaching model. In general, students show good responses to the implementation of vocabulary learning using Joox. Therefore, it is recommended for teachers to use it as a medium in teaching vocabulary, and the students to use it for independent learning. Keywords: Joox, teaching media, teaching vocabulary

Abstract

This research aims to investigate whether there is a significant effect of watching English movie on improving students’ ability to write a narrative text at the tenth-grade students. This research used quasi experimental method. Sample of the study consisted of 76 students. The sampling technique was used random sampling. In this research, the researcher used to watch English movie to improve students’ writing ability to trigger ideas. This research consisted of three stages. The first stage was pre-test giving stage. The second was treatment implementation stage, namely watching English movie as a technique in experiment class and without watching English movie in controlled class. The third was post-test giving stage. The type of the research was written test. To validate the instrument, the writer asked an expert to validate its content. This instrument was said valid. Then, the results of both classes were analyzed by using t-test. The study findings revealed that there were significant differences between the mean scores attained by the experimental class and control class. Post intervention data indicated a remarkable increase in the experimental class’ achievement in writing ability with the result found that tobserved > ttable for the significant level (0,025), 2,72 > 2. So, Ho is rejected, and Ha is accepeted. It means that there is significant effect of watching English movie on improving students’ ability to write a narrative text at the tenth grade of SMAN 12 Kabupaten Tangerang in academic year 2021/2022

Abstract

ABSTRACT The present research was to investigate the correlation of students’ metacognitive and critical thinking with writing skills. This research used correlation study. In collecting the data, 15 questions of questionnaire were provided. There are 7 questionnaires for metacognitive and 8 questionnaires for critical thinking. The written test was gotten by the students’ assessment that the researcher received from the lecturer of Writing 2 in class A, B, and C. The sample was taken by three classes consist of 71 students that had been choosing. The result of research found out that there was not any significant correlation of students’ metacognitive with writing skills. Then, there was not any significant correlation of students’ critical thinking with writing skills. Form on the valuation of the research simultaneous, Fcount< Ftable (0.749 < 3.29). It can be sum up that there was not any simultaneous of students’ metacognitive and critical thinking with writing skills. In accordance with the hypothesis, the researcher summarized that those variables were not correlating between students’ metacognitive and critical thinking with writing skills.

Abstract

This article aimed to analyze the student learning experiences during the pandemic at Universitas Islam Syekh-Yusuf Tangerang. The researchers used a qualitative method. The collecting data used interviews and observation. Interview conducted on several lecturers and academics to get data analysis. Then examined the results of the interviews to get the essence and data findings that could answer the problems of this study and hypotheses. Based on data analysis the researchers concluded that the digital or technology-based learning experience during the remote learning period in response to the pandemic has indicated that learning was exciting because either lecturers and students have established very synergistic collaborations to produce learning quality that was as expected. Therefore, the results of this study could be a meaningful input for future studies. Keywords: Student Learning Experience, Technology Based Learning, Learning From Home
