Abstract

Supplementation of Bioplus probiotic is the feeding strategy that can be applied to optimize sheep production in Kaso Village, Tambaksari District, Ciamis. Bioplus contains rumen microorganism that play a role in rumen digestion process. The aim of the study were to analyze the supplementation of Bioplus probiotic on production performance of sheep and to analyze the feasibility of feedlot sheep in Kaso village. The treatment consist of two treatment P0 = control and P1 = control + rice brand + Bioplus probiotic 1 doze (150 g). The variable measured such us average daily gain, dry matter (DM) intake, ration efficiency, income over feed cost (IOFC). The Feasibility variable measured such us R/C ratio, B/C ratio, BEP price and BEP production. The Data were analyzed using independence t-test and descriptive analysis for feasibility variables. The results of the study showed that there was an effect on average daily gain, ration efficiency and IOFC (P<0,05) but did not effect on DM intake (P>0.05). The results of the feasibility analysis show that there is an increase in income, the B/C ratio increases with the addition of probiotics and the R/C ratio P1 is higher and most feasible. Price BEP and production BEP P1 are better than P0. Thus, the supplementation of Bioplus probiotic was able to increase the production performance and income of sheep farmers in Kaso Village.

Abstract

The population of sheep in Kaso Village, Tambaksari District is still very low compared to the average number of needs each year. One of the feed manipulation techniques that can be done is by giving Bioplus probiotics. This study aims to analyze the increase in knowledge and skills of farmers on the provision of Bioplus probiotics. This study aims to analyze the improvement of farmers' knowledge and skills on the provision of Bioplus probiotics The extension technique used uses a combination of media and extension methods such as lectures, discussions, demonstrations of methods, and applied studies and is combined with powerpoint media and posters. The instrument used is a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability using SPSS version 21. The counseling respondents consisted of 30 members of KWT Sauyunan. The evaluation of the extension was analyzed using the Padmowiharjo formula (1999). The results of the extension evaluation show the criteria of Success for the knowledge aspect and Fairly Successful in the skill aspect. Thus the extension of the provision of Bioplus probiotics to sheep is able to increase the knowledge and skills of members of the women's farmer group.

Abstract

Pakan alternatif dapat menekan biaya pakan sehingga dapat memberikan keuntungan ganda bagi peternak. Salah satu pakan alternatif untuk pakan ayam yaitu maggot lalat Black Soldier Fly (BSF) karena kandungan protein tinggi terkandung di dalamnya. Maggot BSF dapat mengurai limbah organik seperti kulit nanas yang masih belum termanfaatkan di Desa Sanca Kecamatan Ciater Kabupaten Subang. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh media limbah kulit nanas terhadap pertumbuhan maggot BSF dan menganalisis keuntungan pembesaran maggot BSF menggunakan media kulit nanas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode 2 kelompok percobaan dengan 5 ulangan terdiri atas P0=50% kulit nanas+50% dedak padi+0,25% molases. P1=75% kulit nanas+25% dedak padi+0,25% molases. Peubah yang diukur diantaranya suhu (oC) media penetasan setelah difermentasi, lama penetasan, panjang maggot (mm), dan berat panen (g). Peubah kelayakan usaha yang diamati yaitu R/C ratio, B/C ratio, break even point (BEP) harga dan BEP produksi. Data dianalsisis menggunakan uji-t tidak berpasangan dan dianalisis deskriptif untuk peubah kelayakan usaha. Hasil penelitian menunjukan perbedaan komposisi kulit nanas dalam media penetasan dan media pembesaran maggot tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadah suhu, lama penetasan, dan berat panen, tetapi memberikan pengaruh nyata pada panjang maggot umur 16 hari. Hasil analisis kelayakan usaha menunjukan hanya perlakuan P1 yang layak untuk dijalankan karena memiliki nilai R/C ratio>1, sedangkan P0 tidak layak karena nilai R/C ratio<1. Kulit nanas dapat digunakan sebagai media penetasan dan pembesaran maggot BSF. Penggunaan kulit nanas sampai 75% mampu meningkatkan hasil panen maggot BSF.

Abstract

The objective of the study was to analyze the use of molasses as an energy source of silage and probiotics on the physical/organoleptic quality of silage, fermentation characteristics, and NDF and ADF silage content. 15 kgs of Napier grass were packed in plastic silos for each treatment and stored for 21 days. The experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment consisted of P0: control or the Napier grass silage, P1: Napier grass silage + 3% molasses, and P2: Napier grass silage + 3% molasses and EM4 probiotics. The data were tested by using an analysis of variance and the differences among treatment means were examined by the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test. The variables measured were organoleptic quality including color, odor, texture, presence of fungi, fermentation characteristics including pH, dry matter (DM), and fleigh value as well as the content of Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF) and Acid Detergent Fiber (ADF). The results showed that the molasses and probiotics addition had no significant effect on the color, odor, and texture of the silage (P>0.05) but had a significant effect on the presence of fungi (P<0.01). Molasses and probiotics addition as fermentation additives reduced the pH value and increased the value of fleigh silage (P<0.05) but did not affect the increase of silage dry matter (P>0.05), decreased the NDF content (P<0.05) and had no significant effect on the ADF content. The conclusion of the research was the addition of molasses as an energy source, as well as a combination of molasses and EM4 probiotics can improve the fermentative quality of silage, by decreasing the pH value, increasing the fleigh value, and being able to reduce the NDF content of silage.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. Kementerian Pertanian terus berupaya untuk mewujudkan swasembada daging sapi/kerbau melalui pengembangan sapi keturunan Belgian Blue. Salah satu bangsa sapi yang dikembangkan adalah sapi persilangan Belgian Blue dengan Friesian Holstein (BBXFH). Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kualitas karkas sapi persilangan Belgian Blue (BB) dengan Friesian Holstein (FH) dengan menggunakan teknik pencitraan ultrasonografi (USG). Sapi yang digunakan dalam penelitian merupakan sapi pada turunan pertama (F1). Sebanyak 13 ekor sapi jantan hasil persilangan BB dan FH berasal dari BET Cipelang 5 ekor dan 8 ekor dari BBPTU HPT Baturraden dengan umur 14-18 bulan. Pengukuran back fat (BF), longissimus dorsi (LD), skor marbling (SM) dan lemak intramuskular (LIM) dilakukan di antara tulang rusuk ke-12 dan ke-13 dengan teknik pencitraan ultrasonografi. Pengukuran rump fat (RF) dan rump thickness (RT) dilakukan di antara daerah ischium dan ilium. Nilai SM dan PIF dianalisis lebih lanjut menggunakan software image-J sehingga menghasilkan integrated density dan dilakukan uji regresi untuk menentukan kurva standar dan skor marbling serta persentase LIM. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji-t tidak berpasangan (independence t-test) berdasarkan perbedaan lokasi pengambilan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perbedaan lokasi tidak memberikan pengaruh pada skor marbling, %LIM, ketebalan LD, dan ketebalan RT (P0,05), tetapi memberikan pengaruh pada ketebalan BF dan RF (P0,05). Faktor perbedaan pakan juga belum mampu memberikan pengaruh pada SM dan %LIM. Perbedaan ketebalan BF dan RF dapat dipengaruhi karena perbedaan manajemen pemeliharaan dimana sapi-sapi di BBPTU HPT Baturraden dipelihara dengan sistem penggembalaan sehingga mengalami penurunan ketebalan BF dan RF. (Estimation of Carcass Quality in Belgian Blue and Friesian Holstein Crossbreed using Ultrasound Imaging) ABSTRAK. The Ministry of Agriculture strives to achieve beef/buffalo self-sufficiency through the development of Belgian Blue breeds. One of the breeds that has been developed is the crossbreed of Belgian Blue and Friesian Holstein (BBXFH). This study aimed to evaluate the carcass quality of crossbreed BBXFH using ultrasound imaging technique (USG). Cattle used in the study were first breed (F1). A total of 13 bulls BBXFH came from BET Cipelang and BBPTU HPT Baturraden respectively 5 and 8 heads (14-18 months age). Measurements of back fat (BF), longissimus dorsi (LD), marbling score (SM) and intramuscular fat (LIM) were performed between the 12th and 13th ribs by ultrasound imaging technique. Rump fat (RF) and rump thickness (RT) measurements were performed between the ischium and ilium areas. The SM and PIF values were analyzed using image-J software and a regression test was performed to determine the standard curve and the marbling score and the LIM percentage. Data were analyzed using unpaired t-test. The results showed that the difference in location had no effect on the marbling score, % LIM, LD, and RT (P 0,05), but had an effect on BF and RF (P 0,05). The difference factor in feed has not effect on SM and% LIM. The difference in BF and RF obtained in this study might be due to the difference of cattle management, where cattle in BBPTU HPT Baturraden are raising with a grazing system so that the BF and RF decrease.
