Abstract

This study aims to explore the experience of the head of the room in supervising nurses in the COVID-19 inpatient room. The method used is a qualitative method by determining the sample by purposive sampling. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with several government and private hospitals in Medan City. The results showed that there were five themes regarding the experience of the head of the room in supervising nurses, namely: 1) implementing several approaches to the implementation of the supervisory function of nurses in the COVID-19 inpatient ward; 2) try various efforts to strengthen follow-up supervision; 3) feel the benefits of carrying out supervision of nurses in the COVID-19 inpatient ward; 4) experiencing psychological pressure when supervising nurses in the COVID-19 inpatient room; 5) experiencing problems when carrying out supervision of nurses in the COVID-19 inpatient room. In conclusion, supervision activities can improve the competence, skills, knowledge and manage the performance of nurses in the COVID-19 inpatient room. Abstract

This study aims to develop guidelines for decubitus ulcers in the ICU at USU Hospital. This type of research is action research in 1 cycle. The instrument used was a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) guide and a nurse's knowledge questionnaire about decubitus ulcers. Participants in this study were 15 nurses who were selected by purposive sampling. The results showed that the percentage value before the formulation of guidelines for the prevention of decubitus ulcers was 66.67% which stated that the level of knowledge was good and 33.33%, which noted that the level of knowledge was sufficient and the level of expertise lacked as much as 0%. After the formulation of the guidelines, the results were 93.4%, where the nurses' level of knowledge was declared good. The level of expertise of nurses that was reported sufficient was 6.6% and the level of expertise of nurses that was insufficient was 0%. In conclusion, with the implementation of decubitus ulcers guidelines, ICU nurses' knowledge of decubitus ulcers prevention has increased. The components of the decubitus ulcers guide consist of the concept of a decubitus ulcers, scope and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of nurse cohesiveness and emotional intelligence on the performance of nurses at Bina Kasih General Hospital Medan. The research method used is an analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach. The results showed that the nurse's cohesiveness and emotional intelligence obtained a p-value of 0.001 < = 0.05. The most dominant variable affecting the performance of the implementing nurse is the emotional intelligence variable with a regression coefficient of OR 89.514. In conclusion, nurses' cohesiveness and emotional intelligence have a positive and significant effect on the performance of implementing nurses at Bina Kasih General Hospital Medan. Abstract

A hospital is one of the work places which potentially causes danger to its employees. The cases which commonly occur are pricked by hypodermic needles, sprained, lumbago, and the other infections. A survey conducted a the beginning of 2017 revealed that there were some cases of occupational accident undergone by nurses at Permata Bunda Hospital such as HNP (Hernias Nukleus Pulposus), pricked by hypodermic needles, scratched by ampoule lids, and slipped. Methods: The objective of the research was to analyze the correlation of supervision, work procedure, and physical condition with the incidence of occupational accident in nurses in the inpatient wards of Permata Bunda Hospital, Medan. The data were analyzed by using chi square test. The samples were 96 nurse practitioners as the respondents, taken by using consecutive sampling technique. Results and Discussion: The result of the research showed that 17.7% of the respondents had undergone occupational accidents such as HNP (14.6%), pricked by hypodermic needles (15.6%), and slipped (10.4%). The result of chi square statistic test showed that the three variables: supervision (p=0.000), work procedure (p=0.005), and physical condition (p=0.000) had significant correlation with nurses’ occupational accidents. Conclusion: It is recommended that the hospital management increase occupational safety and health for the nurses by providing training about the danger of occupational accident in nurses and about occupational safety and health.Keywords: Supervision, Work Procedure, Physical Condition, Occupational Accident

Abstract

This study aims to explore nurse managers' perceptions about the implementation of Nursing Quality Audit in the inpatient room of RSUD Dr. H. Yuliddin Away. The method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The participants in this study were 15 nurse managers. Data was collected through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and analyzed using content analysis. The results showed that there were five themes related to the nurse manager's perception of the implementation of a quality audit of nursing in the inpatient ward, namely: 1) the meaning of audit according to the nurse manager; 2) the implementation of nursing quality audits; 3) nursing quality indicators; 4) obstacles in the implementation of nursing quality audits; 5) supporting factors for audit implementation. In conclusion, the experience of nurse managers in implementing Nursing Quality Audits in hospitals is inadequate. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore nurses' perceptions about clinical supervision in the implementation of patient and family education in Universitas Sumatera Utara. This type of research is a qualitative research with a phenomenological design. The results of this study brought out five main themes, namely (1) the purpose of supervision in the implementation of patient and family education, (2) methods of carrying out supervision, (3) the barriers that had been facing during the implementation supervision, (4) the future expectations related to the implementation of supervision and (5) the benefits of supervision implementation. Conclusions, nurses' perceptions about clinical supervision in the implementation patient and family education are important to do, even though the implementation still not optimum. Abstract

This study aims to explore the experiences of nurses and identify coping strategies used to overcome the problems they face. The research design used is descriptive phenomenology. The results of the study were 5 themes, the researchers identified five, namely: 1) Sources of work stress for nurses in the emergency unit, 2) doing other activities for various work themes, 3) Coping with stress by improving self-ability, 4) performing various constructive coping techniques, and 5) Make routine work stress handling activities for nurses. In conclusion, the average nurse uses problem-focused coping strategies and to deal with work stress. Keywords: Coping mechanism, Experience, Emergency Room Nurse, Job Stress
