Abstract

Classroom Action Research (CAR) is one of the activities which teachers must carry out to improve and develop their professionalism. This community service activity aimed at train and improve the professionalism of chemistry teachers through CAR activities. The method was conducted with lectures, discussions, questions and answers, and workshops on proposal preparation, literature searching, CAR implementation, report, and CAR research articles preparation. The number of participants is 34 who are the members of MGMP Kimia Kabupaten Tanah Datar. There were six meetings with the total time was 36 hours in July-December 2019. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed using the percentage and equation techniques of Kappa Cohen's. Based on the results, of the 34 participants, 15 CAR titles were obtained, 11 CAR titles were carried out, 8 CAR reports were produced, and 4 CAR articles were drafted. Based on the teacher's questionnaire responses, the kappa moment average value was 0.86 which categorized as very high. This data showed that the classroom action training activities provided can improve the professionalism of chemistry teachers in preparing proposals, implementing, drafting reports and articles. This training activity still needs to be continued to obtain CAR articles that have been published in several national /international journals or proceedings.

Abstract

Chemistry is a science that studies phenomenology and abstraction. Then chemistry is related to all things that exist in nature. Therefore, this study aims to discuss the use of tetrahedral chemistry representation in chemistry learning. The research method used is literature study or library research. Meanwhile, the data sources used are secondary data obtained from various sources such as journals, books, and other sources relevant to the research. The results showed that learning with tetrahedral chemistry representation is very suitable for 21st century learning and the 2013 curriculum. The use of tetrahedral chemistry representation can help in understanding abstract concepts. Then students can use chemistry appropriately to solve complex problems in real life. The tetrahedral chemistry representation can also define and design the future of chemistry and chemistry education

Abstract

A variety of skills have shaped the teaching and learning of chemistry in the early 21st century. This includes fundamental changes in chemistry such as changes in understanding of how students learn, the application of computer and information technology in studying complex scientific phenomena, and others. Responding to this problem, chemistry education which originally used a "triangle shape" must be emphasized into a "tetrahedral" form, where the fourth peak represents the human context in studying chemistry or is called the human element. Highlighting the human element provides compelling reasons to emphasize case studies, active learning, and investigative projects to link school chemistry to everyday life. This study aims to describe the phenomena that exist regarding the human element in chemistry learning, especially in textbooks. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive analysis technique with library research. The data used are secondary data derived from textbooks and scientific articles. The existence of human activities involved in learning chemistry provided in textbooks, helps students learn from rich contexts. Learning from a rich context makes learning chemistry more motivating, interesting and relevant to their lives, thus helping students understand chemical concepts well. Therefore, the importance of the human element involved in learning chemistry, especially in textbooks.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of using scientific approach based learning model on students’ learning outcomes. The method is literature review. The data used in this study is secondary data. This secondary data was obtained from books and scientific articles. The research procedure was carried out through several stages, namely designing the topic and research objective, conducting review, analyzing data, and writing review. The result of this literature study show that the use of Problem Solving and Problem Posing learning models using tetrahedral chemistry representation has an effect on student learning outcome. Other learning models such as Problem Based Learning, Project Based Learning, Constructive controversy, and Guided Inquiry that use tetrahedral chemistry representation do not have a significant effect on student learning outcome. In other words, these four models give the same good result to student learning outcome.

Abstract

Materi laju reaksi bersifat abstrak sehingga membutuhkan representasi yang dapat memberikan gambaran yang lebih nyata mengenai konsep-konsep laju reaksi. Salah satu sumber belajar yang berperan penting dalam pemahaman representasi adalah buku teks. Penggunaan visual atau gambar dalam buku teks untuk menggambarkan fenomena kimia pada tingkat berbeda menjadi pendekatan yang bermakna untuk membantu memfasilitasi pemahaman peserta didik. Setiap fenomena kimia dapat dipahami secara utuh jika penjelasannya menekankan pada ketiga aspek representasi serta mengaitkan ketiga level tersebut. Representasi pada buku teks kimia kurikulum merdeka masih banyak yang belum tepat dan bahkan bersumber dari internet. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis representasi kimia pada buku teks kimia kurikulum merdeka materi laju reaksi. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah buku teks kimia kurikulum merdeka yang paling banyak digunakan di SMA/MA Kota Padang. Teknik analisis data yang diterapkan menggunakan rumus Kripendorf Alpha dengan menggunakan lima kriteria yang dikembangkan oleh Gkitzia yang digunakan untuk menganalisis representasi kimia dan hubungan antar representasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa buku teks kimia cenderung menggunakan aspek submikroskopik dan makroskopik (C1), fitur permukaan rata-rata bersifat implisit (C2), beberapa representasi berhubungan dengan teks dan beberapa berhubungan dengan teks (C3), masih ada keterangan gambar yang menunjukkan keterangan disertai soal (C4).

Abstract

The main problem in this study is that no analysis has been conducted on the level of creative thinking ability of students, especially in public high schools in the city of Padang, causing teachers to lack accurate data on the effectiveness of the learning efforts that have been implemented. This study aims to analyze the level of creative thinking ability of students in the subject of the nature of chemistry, which is examined in four aspects, namely fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. This study uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach involving 40 students in phase E of SMAN Padang. Primary data was obtained from mind maps created by students and then analyzed using instruments. The results of the study were reviewed from each aspect, with the highest achievement obtained in the aspect of fluency with a percentage of 79.37%. Furthermore, the flexibility aspect obtained a percentage of 75.00%, which indicates the students' ability to categorize concepts appropriately and diversely. The originality aspect was recorded with an achievement of 60.55%. Conversely, elaboration was the aspect with the lowest achievement, at only 26.66%, indicating that students still had difficulty elaborating ideas in detail and connecting concepts between hierarchies or within a single hierarchy. It can be concluded that the majority of students were in the less creative category, namely 29 students. Meanwhile, there were 10 students in the creative category, 1 student in the not creative category, and no students in the very creative category. Abstract

Literasi kimia merupakan kompetensi penting dalam pembelajaran kimia yang memungkinkan peserta didik memahami konsep, menafsirkan fenomena ilmiah, serta mengambil keputusan berbasis sains. Materi Sistem Periodik Unsur (SPU) bersifat abstrak sehingga memerlukan instrumen evaluasi yang mampu mengukur literasi kimia secara tepat. Penelitian ini fokus pada pengembangan instrumen tes literasi kimia pada materi Sistem Periodik Tidak Pasti untuk tingkat SMA/MA serta pada penilaian kelayakan instrumen yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Educational Design Research (EDR) dengan penerapan model Rasch. Instrumen dikembangkan melalui penyusunan kisi-kisi, penulisan butir soal, validasi ahli, uji coba, dan analisis data. Validitas diuji menggunakan Content Validity Ratio (CVR) dan menunjukkan nilai CVR berada pada rentang 0,85–0,90, sehingga seluruh butir dinyatakan valid secara isi. Validitas empiris (konstruk) dijelaskan menggunakan pemodelan Rasch dengan bantuan perangkat lunak Ministep dan menunjukkan bahwa seluruh butir soal diterima berdasarkan kesesuaian data dengan model Rasch. Hasil analisis reliabilitas menunjukkan nilai reliabilitas person sebesar 0,61, reliabilitas item sebesar 0,94, serta nilai Cronbach's Alpha sebesar 0,61. Indeks kesukaran butir berada pada rentang 1,74 hingga –2,01 logit, dengan mayoritas butir berada pada kategori sedang. Daya beda butir termasuk kategori tinggi, ditunjukkan oleh instrumen kemampuan yang membedakan peserta didik dengan kemampuan tinggi dan rendah. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, instrumen tes literasi kimia pada materi Sistem Periodik Tidak Dinyatakan valid, reliabel, dan layak digunakan sebagai alat evaluasi pembelajaran kimia di SMA/MA
