Abstract

The study aimed to increase the quality of marriage by understanding the match between adult attachment and personality traits (which includes agreeableness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism) on marriage quality of couples. Five hundred couples or 1000 participants were recruited with cluster area sampling in five areas of Bandung City, and were asked to complete Marital Satisfaction Scale and Big Five Inventory. Data was analysed using Multiple Regression and Paired-Sample T-Test. Results showed that adult attachment and personality traits both had a simultaneous effect on marriage quality. Adult attachment had a greater effect compared to the three traits mentioned. Agreeableness was found to have a direct effect on marriage quality of couples, while conscientiousness was found to only have a direct effect on husbands, not wives. Neuroticism was not found to have any direct effects on marriage quality. Further paired sample t-test result confirmed these findings.

Abstract

Based on Data Riset Kesehatan Dasar Indonesia (2013), 65% cases of diseases are caused by non-contagious diseases, one of them is cervical cancer. Individual response to the cancer varies depend on personality and their perception about social support. This study uses McCrae-Costa’s Big Five Personality Theory (2003) and Cohen’s Social Support (2002). Sixty cervical cancer patients, selected by accidental sampling, were given personality and social support questionnaire. Each trait’s score tested its contribution to social support’s score with Multilinear Regression Test by SPPS 20. Agreeableness contributes to perception about appraisal support (F=8.303) and belonging support (F=4.501). Extraversion contributes to perception about appraisal support (F=7.7). Openness to experience contributes to perception about belonging support (F=5.465) and tangible support (F=3.922). Neuroticism and Conscientiousness do not contribute to perception about any social support dimensions. Hopefully this study can be used by the patient’s family, the hospital, and LSM in giving social support and also for the patient to understand about their personality and know what kind of help they do need from people around. Keywords: cervical cancer, big five personality, social support, Multilinear Regression Test

The two questionnaires were modified to fit the participant’s characteristics. Both questionnaires were correlated using correlation test of spearman’s rho with  SPSS 23 to find out the relationship between burden of care and burnout. Based on this test, correlation coefficient score of 0.899 with p=0.00 was achieved. This result shows that there is a significant positive correlation between burden of care and burnout experienced by the family caregiver in the Alzheimer Community. In this research, sex was the only sociodemography variable that correlated with burnout.

The purpose of this study was to describe the stress level of children 6-8 years in dental care at RSGM Maranatha Christian University. Sampling in this study uses non-probability sampling techniques and using accidental sampling. This study uses descriptive analytic research design and questionnaire data collection techniques. Subjects in this study were 71 patients aged 6-8 years. The results showed low stress levels in dental care including waiting to be called by a dentist (90.1%), dental examination (94.4%), dental fillings (86.5%), tooth extraction (79.3%). The value of the pulse rate in dental care which includes waiting to be called by a dentist, dental examination, dental fillings, tooth extraction has an average of 95.7 beats per minute (BPM) which is classified as normal. Based on visits, subjects who are old or new visitors alike experience relatively low stress. The conclusion of this study is that at the age of 6 and 7 years found more stress than at the age of 8 years. The pulse rate is normal but tends to increase during tooth extraction and the most common symptom experienced is cold palms. Keywords: dental care; pulse rate; stress level

Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of grit among Indonesian university students with quantitative design. The respondents in this study were 720 individuals selected through purposive sampling and surveyed online using a Google Form. The research design used in this study was descriptive quantitative analysis, employing the Grit-S questionnaire. The results of this study showed that 45.4% of students had high grit, 39.9% had low grit, 10.1% had very high grit, and 4.6% had very low grit. Additionally, no significant differences were found in grit scores between genders or academic fields such as medicine, science and technology, and social sciences and humanities. However, a difference in grit scores was found between students enrolled in Public and Private Universities; Private Universities scored slightly higher than Public Universities. The variations in grit levels among students can be used as a reference for counselors to provide guidance to students who exhibit low levels of grit. Furthermore, this finding highlights the need for further research to identify factors that may influence grit levels among university students in Indonesia.
