Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Emergency conditions that occur in society can occur at any time and anywhere. If this emergency condition is not handled properly, it will result in the threat of death and disability for society, which is certainly not in line with the SDGs ideals that have been proclaimed. It is necessary to increase the number of community members who have first aid competency so that it can reduce mortality and morbidity rates. In an effort to increase the number of first aid workers who are prepared to provide first aid, a health promotion model is needed in first aid in emergency cases. Methods: A mixed method of qualitative and quantitative research with research and development (R&D) research was applied to produce a training model for the community. Health promotion model was tested in phase two on 50 respondents who were randomly divided into intervention and control groups. Both group was evaluated with pre-post test. Results: Community-Based Daily Emergency First Aid Management Training gives a positive effects in knowledge, skills, and attitude of respondent with sig 0.00. Conclusion: The conclusion of this research is that the Community-Based Daily Emergency First Aid Management Training Model increases community competence in carrying out first aid for everyday emergency situations

Abstract

Background: Anxiety is often encountered in society, especially in children, when undergoing the COVID-19 vaccination. Anxiety is a factor influencing children to refuse vaccination. Therefore, nurses need to reduce this level of anxiety through the application of therapeutic communication. This research was carried out to determine the effect of therapeutic communication on children's anxiety levels during the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination. Methods: A pre-experiment design with a one-group pretest-posttest design was used on 58 respondents who were selected using a simple random sampling technique. The research instrument used was the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS/SRAS) questionnaire with a Likert scale model, and the results were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test statistical test. Results: The results of the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test analysis on respondents' anxiety levels showed that there was a decrease in anxiety after therapeutic communication was carried out with a p-value of 0.00 (p < 0.05), which means that therapeutic communication had a significant influence on the anxiety level of children undergoing the COVID-19 vaccination. Conclusion: Therapeutic communication can effectively reduce the anxiety level of children undergoing COVID-19 vaccination.

Abstract

Background: Disasters can occur anywhere and happen to anyone who can cause loss of life, psychological impacts, material loss and environmental damage. Everyone is expected to know the attitude they should take when a disaster occurs, including the role of nursing students. One way to increase disaster response knowledge is by using the Mobile Disaster Exercise Application. This research aims to describe the effectiveness of using the Mobile Disaster Exercise Application on disaster response knowledge of Among Nursing students. Methods: This research is a quantitative research with a quasi-experiment type with a pretest-posttest with control group design. The sample for this research was 60 nursing students from the Surakarta Ministry of Health Polytechnic in the experimental group in the form of the Mobile Disaster Exercise Application and 58 people in the control group in the form of online lectures, then the data was processed using a paired sample t-tes. Results: Health education through the Mobile Disaster Exercise Application media was effective in increasing disaster response knowledge among nursing students, obtained a mean of 19.83 with a value of p=0.000 (p<0.05). Meanwhile, in the control group in the form of online lectures, a mean of 16.59 was obtained with a value of p=0.000 (p<0.05). Conclusion: The Mobile Disaster Exercise application is effective in increasing disaster response knowledge among Nursing Students.

Abstract

Disaster events are also very risky to occur in the school area. The most common danger in school is fire. School disaster management includes the familiar procedural cycle found in planning and implementation of physical risk mitigation, safe facility maintenance, standard operating procedures, and disaster response training. This study aims to analyze the effect of nursing disaster education on increasing fire disaster mitigation efforts among students and teachers of a boarding school in Surakarta City. The research employed one group pretest posttest design. Sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling with the application of inclusion and exclusion criteria. The number of research samples was obtained by 64 respondents. The instruments in this study were questionnaires to find out the level of knowledge and attitudes of the level of fire disaster mitigation efforts. The hypothesis test used was the Paired T-test on the knowledge sub variable and Wilcoxon on the attitude sub variable. The study found both knowledge and attitude towards fire catastrophe mitigation improved between the pretest and posttest. The improvement in knowledge was 3.9 points, whereas the improvement in attitude was 4. The Sig result was 0.00 based on the t-test analysis of the knowledge sub variable. Furthermore, the Sig result was 0.00 based on the Wilcoxon analysis of attitude sub variable. It can be concluded that Nursing Disaster Education has an effect in improving fire disaster mitigation efforts in students and teachers in high schools.

Abstract

Emergencies caused by disasters, accidents, and diseases carry risks ranging from disability to death. Rapid emergency assistance is essential to mitigate these risks, with first responders playing a vital role. The Public Safety Center (PSC) 119 serves as a key access point for emergency response, yet public awareness and understanding of how to access it remain limited, particularly among heterogeneous communities. Integrated simulation has emerged as a promising strategy to improve communication accessibility to emergency services. This research aims to analyze the improvement of communication accessibility to Public Safety Center 119 through integrated simulation. The research employed an experimental design with a pretest-posttest model. A total of 217 participants from the general public in Surakarta City, including members of the Volunteer Corps, health cadres, and neighborhood security (Linmas), were involved. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed via t-test. Statistical analysis revealed a significant increase in communication accessibility scores following the integrated simulation, with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.00. The mean pretest score of 73.5 (medium category) rose to 77.9 (high category) in the posttest, reflecting an improvement of 4.4 points. Integrated simulation effectively enhances communication accessibility to Public Safety Center 119. It is recommended as a practical and impactful approach to raise public awareness, improve emergency access, and strengthen community preparedness in emergency response systems.
