Abstract

The increase in people's healthy life style has increased the demand for organic rice. However, this is not supported by sufficient increase in the organic rice production. Therefore, Field School of Organic Farming (FS-OF) was conducted as an effort to increase the organic rice production. This FS-OF activity is aimed to improve farmers' understanding and skill about the organic rice cultivation through demonstration plots. The service activities that have been carried out include the production of demonstration plots for organic and conventional rice cultivation to compare their production, handover of technology transfer tools, training in organic rice cultivation, making the liquid organic fertilizers and organic pesticides, and biochar. The results of community service have increased the understanding of field school participants and increased organic rice production by 10% when compared to conventional rice cultivation

The problem that arises is the gap between organic rice production and consumption. The solution to the problem that can be done in increasing organic rice production is through the Field School of Organic Farming (FS-OF). This FS-OF activity is aimed to increase farmers' understanding of organic rice cultivation through learning and training in organic rice cultivation. Implementation of activities in FS-OF was conducting training, and direct learning in the form of demonstration plots. The service activities that have been carried out include the production of demonstration plots for organic and conventional rice cultivation to compare their production, handover of technology transfer tools, training in organic rice cultivation, making the liquid organic fertilizers and organic pesticides, and biochar. Abstract

Eco enzyme is a fermented liquid from organic waste fruits, vegetables, and other organic waste which is very useful for agriculture, health, and households. One of Deli Serdang villages that are very vulnerable to Covid-19 is Karang Anyar Village, located in Beringin District, only about 5 km from Kuala Namu International Airport. On the other hand, in Karang Anyar Village, there is a Mekar Pasar Kawat farmer group that cultivates organic rice that needs liquid organic fertilizer (LOF). This community service aims to educate the public about using an eco enzyme from household waste as liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) and disinfectant. Implementing community service that is carried out is training and practice of making eco enzyme and its benefits, direct practice of demonstration plot of rice cultivation by utilizing eco enzyme as LOF. The results are training and mentoring in making eco enzyme based on household waste, training and hands-on practice on applying eco enzyme in the environment as disinfectant, training, and direct demonstration plot rice cultivation by utilizing eco enzyme produced as organic fertilizer liquid

Abstract

Farmers in Tanah Karo still use chemical pesticides a lot and often experience direct exposure to pesticides due to not using personal protection during pesticide spraying. Based on the farmers' habits, exposure to pesticides is cleaned by rubbing the leaves of acem acem (Oxalis dehradunensis Raizada) to the dirty and exposed parts of the pesticide. Acem acem leaves have many benefits and are local potentials that can be new opportunities for farmers to process acem acem leaves into products that have economic value. In addition, acem acem leaves that grow wild and are scattered in every farmer's field in Tanah Karo become an obstacle in providing raw materials in large quantities because it will take a lot of time, effort, and money to collect them. The purpose of this community partnership program is to develop acem acem leaves as raw material for hand sanitizers by means of intensive cultivation, increase farmers' understanding of the use of acem acem leaves in protecting exposure to chemical pesticides, empower farming communities in making hand sanitizers made from acem acem leaves. The solution to partner problems is to cultivate acem acem as raw materials, educate the farming community to utilize acem acem leaves into products that have economic value such as hand sanitizers so that they can increase farmers' income. The implementation of community partnership service activities is carried out by training at each stage of acem acem cultivation, maintenance of acem acem, harvesting, and post-harvest as well as processing acem acem into hand sanitizers, as well as direct practice of demonstration plots for acem acem cultivation.

Abstract

Sadam Mushroom House is one of the mushroom producers in Medan Marelan with oyster mushroom production of 7-12 kg/day and can accommodate 7,000 baglogs. The problem of the oyster mushroom business is still very dependent on mushroom nurseries in an effort to provide F2 seedlings because there are still very limited facilities, infrastructure, understanding and skills in providing F0 - F2 seeds. Another problem is that the baglogs waste produced (2,000-3,000 baglogs every 3 months) has not been used properly so that it has the potential to pollute the environment. The purpose of this community service is to increase the independence of partners in providing oyster mushroom seeds, making compost from baglog waste and its use in plant cultivation. The solutions offered in solving these problems are the introduction of appropriate technology in the supply of F0-F2 mushroom seeds, the introduction of technology transfer goods, the management of baglog waste into compost and the use of compost from baglog waste as organic fertilizer for plant cultivation. The results of the community service that have been achieved are the introduction of technology transfer goods in the form of an autoclave, simple laminar air flow and tools for providing F0-F2 seedlings, training and assistance in providing F0-F2 mushroom seedling, training and assistance in making compost from baglog mushroom waste, direct practice of using mushroom compost for cultivating mung bean crop.
