Abstract

Abstract

This paper aims to provide insight into the impact of the existence of female directors in the board of directors on firm value by taking into consideration the educational level and tenure of women directors in the governance of Indonesia’s companies. The hypotheses are tested on 177 Indonesian listed companies in the IDX between 2015-2020, manufacturing and retail industries, using the weighted least squares regressions. The evidence conveys that the educational level rather than the simple presence of women directors can increase firm value. Additionally, results reveal that the tenure of women is negatively related to firm value, as it might impair the board's independence. This study explores the potential of women on board through their educational level and tenure in the firms. Future studies may expand to include factors such as family background, reputation, and other personal or professional elements that can enhance women's performance in companies. Few studies have addressed the impact of women across different industries, especially in developing economies. This research contributes by examining the demographic variables of women board members that are still poorly apprehended (i.e. their educational level and tenure) in such a setting.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effects of Indonesian inflation, the rise of the US Fed rate, and the exchange rate on the yield of Indonesian government bonds. This study employs a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from reliable sources, such as the Bloomberg database, the official website of Bank Indonesia, and the official website of the Federal Reserve. The sample comprises 132 months of macroeconomic rates and prices, covering 10 years from 2012 to 2022. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, and stationarity testing. While previous studies have analysed the effects of these factors on government bond prices, this study investigates explicitly their impact on government bond yield in Indonesia. The results show that inflation and the exchange rate positively affect the Indonesian government bond yield. However, the rise in the US Federal Reserve rate does not significantly drive changes in the Indonesian government bond yield.

Indonesia costumer goods sector has faced significant growth during the recent year, the companies are enforced to establish competitive strategy to maintain their position in the market. Talent management should be paid attention more since it helps the company to attract, acquire, and retain the best employees that may help maintaining their position in the market as well as enhancing the performance. Based on the hypothesis test, it is true that talent management influences organization learning and financial performance. The companies such as PT HM Sampoerna Tbk and PT Unilever Tbk who obtain high score in the talent management variable most likely to be followed by high score in the organization learning as well. The results also reveal that some companies still need to improve the attraction activities and system to capture learning which are the first indicator of talent management and forth indicator of organization learning. In addition, it was found that organization learning as a mediator can strengthen the relationship between talent management and financial performance.
