Abstract

The primary objectives of this research are to examine and explain the role of export assistance (given by the government) as well as the internal factors (export commitment, satisfaction with prior year’s export performance, management international experience) and to implement product adaptation strategy to create competitive advantage and improving SMEs’ export performance. The design of the research is mixed method. The target population of the research is exporter SMEs of furniture and craft in Yogyakarta and Central Java. The data was collected using questionnaire which involved 130 respondents (net response rate 76.5%), and in-depth interviews which involved 13 informants. The findings of the research do not fully support the contingency approach. The export performance of SMEs is directly influenced by competitive advantage, satisfaction with prior year’s export performance, and export assistance. The competitive advantage is directly influenced by product adaptation strategy, export commitment, and management international experience. Product adaptation strategy implemented by most of SMEs affects the competitive advantage, but it does not promote direct influence to export performance financially. Competitive advantage is a crucial factor for it is able to function as key mediator to support internal factors and product adaptation strategy in improving the export volume, revenue, and profitability. The research findings show that product adaptation strategy and internal factors (commitment and international experience) play bigger roles as antecedent of long term export success which is competitive advantage, while export assistance only functions as antecedent of short term export success which is financial export performance. Keywords: export, SMEs, export assistance, satisfaction, international experience, commitment, product adaptation, competitive advantage, performance.

Abstract

This research integrative built a research model in order to give comprehensive understanding how the contribution of organization culture, leadership and strategy to increase organization performance, how the variables related to each other and answer the gap in the previous research about organization culture and organization performance. The Study was conducted at Car Motor Component Industry in Indonesia using primary and secondary data. The research samples were 150 companies as member of GIAMM in all regions of Indonesia. The sampling technique used was Purposive Sampling Plan. The research result shows that the strong leadership and effective strategy have important role to increase organization performance. Organization culture does not appear directly influence the organization performance, but indirectly supports the strategy implementation to increase organization performance. Leadership has the strongest role in increasing organization performance, but it still has constraint in its role as strategic leadership, that is to build strong organization culture. Leadership and organization culture are proved to influence each other. Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the influence of assets, receivables accounts, debt, equity, number of members on the financial performance and SHU policy by using positivist approach. The population of this study are 45 credit unions, while the samples are the member of Puskopdit Flores Mandiri which are eligible 1000 members, has a greater asset equal to one billion, has held an annual meeting of members, as well as having financial data and complete membership 2008–2013. Analysis technique used a path analysis, supported by qualitative information by nine (9) informants who had worked more than 5 years, with in-depth interview technique. The results showed that the direct effect of test size assets, receivables accounts, equity, and a number of members have a significant effect on financial performance, while debt has a significant negative effect. Testing the direct effect of size assets, receivables accounts, and financial performance have a positive significant effect on net income policies, whereas the debt, equity, and number of significant negative effect on the net income policy. The results showed that all eleven hypotheses that the direct effect of having built a significant effect on the financial performance and net in come policies, had been proven. The testing of the indirect effect of financial performance as an intervening variable mediating the effect of five variables in detecting exogenous to net in come policies from the five hypotheses are built shows that increasing size assets, receivables accounts, equity and total members proved to increase the net in ome policies with a total value greater than the value of the coefficient of influence directly. While the debt does not affect the probability value is greater than the direct effect. In general, the determinants of the total for the first model and the second model of 0,821 or 82,1% of the models can account for the effects of exogenous variables on endogenous variables, while 17,9% is due to other factors outside of research. Thus, the constructs were constructed in this study is perfect instrumental in identifying the contribution of size assets, receivables accounts, debt, equity, and members of the financial performance and net income policy. We found that the indirect effect models constructed show that the debt is not significant because the value is smaller than the direct effect. This suggests there are other factors that have not been found in this study and become a recommendation for further research. Keywords: credit union, size asset, receivable accounts, debt, equity, members, financial performance, net in come policy, Puskopdit Flores Mandiri
