Abstract

This study aimed to examine the impact of several independent variables—namely Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), Population, Exchange Rate, and Inflation—on the dependent variable, Imports in North Sumatra, during the period from 2001 to 2017. The research adopted a quantitative approach, utilizing secondary data as the primary source. The sample consisted of time series data from 2001 to 2017, sourced from publications by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of North Sumatra. Data analysis was carried out using the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method, with SPSS 20 as the data processing tool. The findings of the study indicate that, collectively, GRDP, Population, Exchange Rate, and Inflation have a significant simultaneous effect on imports in North Sumatra Province during the observed period. Partial tests reveal that GRDP, Population, and Inflation each have a positive and significant influence on imports, whereas the Exchange Rate is negatively and significantly associated with imports in North Sumatra. The combined explanatory power of GRDP, Population, Exchange Rate, and Inflation accounts for 94.5% of the variation in imports, with the remaining 5.5% attributed to other factors not included in the model.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the influence of economic growth, the Human Development Index (HDI), the Economic Complexity Index (ECI), imports, state debt, and corruption on government spending in Indonesia during the period 1995–2024. Using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) method, this study evaluates the short-term and long-term relationships between these variables. The study results show that economic growth and state debt have a positive and significant effect in the short and long term. The ECI has a significant negative effect on spending, indicating that economic complexity is correlated with fiscal efficiency. The HDI has a positive effect in the short term, but is not significant in the long term. Meanwhile, imports do not show a consistently significant effect. Corruption has a negative impact in the short term, but turns positive and significant in the long term. These findings emphasize the importance of strengthening economic growth, sustainable debt management, improving the quality of human resources, and reforming budget governance to improve the effectiveness of state spending.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of economic growth, energy consumption, and economic openness on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in Indonesia. This study uses the ARDL (Autoregressive Distributed Lag) method and the Granger Causality test. The results reveal that economic growth has a positive and significant effect on carbon emissions in the long term, but does not have a significant effect in the short term. Meanwhile, energy consumption has a positive and significant effect on carbon emissions in both the short and long term. On the other hand, economic openness has a negative effect on carbon emissions, but the effect is not significant in both the short and long term. The findings of this study indicate that Indonesia is at the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) stage, with a turning point in economic growth of 6.61%. Initially, economic growth increases CO2 emissions, but after reaching this turning point, economic growth begins to have a positive effect on improving environmental quality. In addition, this study also found a reciprocal relationship between economic openness and carbon emissions.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of health, per capita expenditure, population density, labor force, communication expenditure, and inflation on poverty across 34 provinces in Indonesia. The research employs a dynamic panel data method using the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM). The type of data used is secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) and Bank Indonesia (BI). The independent variables in this study include health, per capita expenditure, population density, labor force, communication expenditure, and inflation, while the dependent variable is poverty. The results indicate that health, per capita expenditure, labor force, and communication expenditure have a negative and significant effect on poverty. Conversely, population density, inflation, and the lag of poverty have a positive and significant effect on poverty in Indonesia.
