Abstract

MSMEs are crucial to Indonesia's economic recovery following the COVID-19 outbreak. The goal of this research is to develop a strategy for MSMEs in Medan to survive and thrive under the new normal conditions of Covid-19. The government must take steps and make attempts to address the issues at hand. Numerous alternative options will be evaluated, including human resource quality enhancement, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration enhancement, digital marketing optimization, product differentiation, and product quality standardization. The Analytic Network Process and Benefits Opportunities Cost Risk (BOCR) techniques are used in this investigation. The objective is to obtain a priority ranking of options to use as a guide when making decisions. BOCR analysis employs three criteria when determining alternative priorities: Standard (B/C), Pessimistic B/ (C x R), and Realistic (BxO)/(C x R). The results of this study indicate that if the decision maker focuses on Realistic, the first priority is Digital Marketing Optimization with a coefficient of 0.19, the second priority is Human Resources Quality Improvement with a coefficient of 0.10, the third priority is Product Quality Standardization with a coefficient of 0.07, the fourth priority is Increased Commitment and Collaboration Stakeholders with a coefficient of 0.02 and the last priority is Product Differentiation with a coefficient of 0.01. With the shift from traditional to digital marketing, the MSME market's reach is no longer restricted to the immediate vicinity, but also extends to locations outside the island and abroad. Increased sales will boost the revenue of MSME actors, contributing to the country's economic recovery. Additionally, developing MSMEs requires the dedication, cooperation, and participation of the government, academia, researchers, financial institutions, and information technology businesses.

Abstract

Aisyaturridho. Analysis of the Effect of Economic Growth, Minimum Wages and Human Development Index on Unemployment Rate in North Sumatra. Thesis. Medan: Postgraduate Program at the University of North Sumatra, 2021. Unemployment is a problem that must be faced by North Sumatra. The Open Unemployment Rate in North Sumatra in 2017-2020 is still fluctuating. This study aims to test empirically the effect of economic growth, minimum income and the human development index (IPM) on the open unemployment rate in North Sumatra. This study uses time series and cross section data from 2017 to 2020 from BPS North Sumatra. For data analysis using Panel Data Analysis Method which is based on data processing using the software program E-views 10. The results showed a value of R2 is 0.94. This means that 94% of the proportion of the independent variables used is able to explain the variation in the dependent variable in the model, while the remaining 6% is explained by other variables not used in this study. All independent variables have a P-value less than 0.05. This means that all the independent variables used in the estimation of this analysis model, namely economic growth, minimum income and the human development index (IPM) together have a significant effect on unemployment in North Sumatra. The significant economic growth variable has a negative effect on the open unemployment rate in North Sumatra, has a p-value of 0.0001 with a regression coefficient is -24.14609 which means that every 1 billion rupiah increase in economic growth will reduce 24.14609% of the open unemployment rate. The minimum income variable has a significant positive effect on the open unemployment rate in North Sumatra which has a p-value of 0.0005 with a regression coefficient of 8.005012, meaning that if there is an increase of 1 million rupiah the minimum income will increase 8.005012% of the open unemployment rate. Meanwhile, the human development index variable has a significant positive effect on the open unemployment rate in North Sumatra because the p-value is 0.0454 with a regression coefficient of 0.997629 which means that if the human development index increases by 1 ratio, it will increase the open unemployment rate by 0.997629%. To reduce the open unemployment rate, the government must increase the economic growth and human development index, while the minimum income must be stabilized in order to reduce the open unemployment rate. Keywords: Open Unemployment Rate, Economic Growth, Minimum income, Human Development Index (IPM).

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic affected global economic growth, including Indonesia's economic recession for four quarters from Q2 2020 to Q1 2021. This study uses Schumpeter's growth theory to analyze the interest rate policies and innovations that encourage economic growth in Indonesia in the long term. This study uses a quantitative approach with the Auto Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model with the variables of GDP, BI interest rates, consumption, innovation, and investment credit. The study results show that Bank Indonesia's accommodative interest rate policy with low-interest rates during the recession due to the Covid-19 pandemic positively influences economic growth. However, in the long-term, interest rates must compete with interest rates from other countries to encourage investment capital flows to Indonesia. The findings show that innovation has not yet affected economic growth in Indonesia, but economic growth fosters innovation to accelerate technology transfer from developed countries through foreign investment. Therefore, the support of the Government and Bank of Indonesia to provide incentives through tax breaks and low-interest rates to business actors developing R&D and innovation will encourage accelerating technology and innovation growth in Indonesia.
