Abstract

Shrimp red cherry shrimp is one of the ornamental potential developed. One of the conservation efforts can be made to increase production by optimizing keragaannya on enlargement phase. This study aims at scaling up the production of red cherry shrimp, especially in the phase of enlargement. Treatment in the form of background color is composed of (A) without colors (control), (B) white, (C) in black, and (D) red. Each treatment was repeated three times with a 45-day long research. Container maintenance in the form of an aquarium measuring 14x14x14 cm3 volume of 1 l and equipped with aeration. The prawns used were 10 fish / aquarium with a weighted average of 0.018 ± 0.21 g and the total length of the average of 0.82 ± 0.21 cm. Feeding in the form of an ad bloodworm satiation and include aquatic plant Hydrilla sp. as a source of additional food and shelter in the form of detritus. The results showed that the weight gain and the highest long background color was achieved by treatment D (red) which is equal to 0.09 ± 0.3 g and 1.62 ± 0.3 cm. Survival at each treatment reached 100%. The water quality of all treatments during the study period remained within normal limits.

Abstract

Ikan mas populasi sintetik dibentuk melalui pencampuran (blending) dari lima strain ikan mas Indonesia, yakni Majalaya, Rajadanu, Sutisna, Wildan, dan Sinyonya.  Ikan mas sintetik potensial untuk dikembangkan menjadi strain tahan ammonia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis performa ikan mas populasi sintetik sebagai kandidat pembentuk ikan mas tahan amonia tinggi. Evaluasi toleransi terhadap amonia tinggi dilakukan melalui uji tantang NH4Cl sebanyak 200 ppm pada media pengujian benih ikan mas populasi sintetik dan sebagai kontrol ikan mas populasi sintetik tanpa penambahan NH4Cl. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan akuarium dengan ukuran 60x40x40 cm sebanyak tiga unit untuk pengujian frekuensi ventilasi dan dua unit untuk pengambilan sampel. Perlakuan diulang sebanyak 3 kali dengan ikan uji berjumlah 30 ekor tiap akuarium dan bobot 18.32±3.29 g ekor. Pengukuran ekspresi gen CO1 dilakukan dengan metode qPCR. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan frekuensi ventilasi ikan mas sintetik tahan amonia tinggi mencapai 34.00±10.54 bukaan menit-1, lebih tinggi dibanding kelompok pingsan dan kontrol. Tingkat ekspresi gen CO1 ikan mas populasi sintetik yang tahan amonia tinggi memiliki level ekspresi lebih tinggi daripada kelompok pingsan dan kontrol. Sementara itu, kualitas air uji tantang masih berada pada level normal untuk pemeliharaan.A synthetic carp population carp was formed by combining five Indonesian carp strains, namely Majalaya, Rajadanu, Sutisna, Wildan, and Sinyonya. The synthetic carp has the potential to be developed as strains resistant to ammonia. This study aimed to analyze the performance of the synthetic carp population as a candidate to form high ammoniaresistant carp. Evaluation of tolerance to high concentrations of environmental ammonia was carried out by adding 200 ppm NH Cl to  the synthetic carp seed’s rearing media. The control treatment was rearing the seed without the addition of NH 4 Cl. The research used three units of aquarium sized 60x40x40 cm to measure the fish’s gills ventilation rate and two units for sampling. The treatments were repeated three times with 30 test fish per aquarium with an average weight of 18.32 ± 3.29 g per fish. The measurement of CO1 gene expression was performed using the qPCR method. The results showed that the ventilation rate of the synthetic carp with high ammonia resistance was 34.00 ± 10.54 per minute aperture, higher than the unconscious and control groups. The level of CO1 gene 4 expression in the synthetic population of high ammonia-resistant carp was higher than in the unconscious and control groups. In addition, the water quality parameters of the treatment rearing media were within the normal values for carp farming.

Abstract

Cianjur merupakan salah satu sentra budidaya ikan mas, khususnya di Waduk Cirata. Pasokan benih ikan mas untuk Waduk Ciarata sebagian besar berasal dari luar wilayah Cianjur, seperti dari Kabupaten Bandung dan Subang. Potensi Kabupaten Cianjur sebagai pemasok benih ikan mas untuk pembesaran di keramba jaring apung (KJA) sangat besar, mengingat banyaknya pembenih ikan mas di wilayah tersebut. Namun demikian, sebagian besar pembenih hanya memproduksi benih ukuran kecil (kebul) sehingga belum siap untuk ditebar di KJA pembesaran. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan produktivitas pembenihan di sentra benih ikan mas di Desa Jati, Kecamatan Bojong Picung melalui pemberian paket induk dan teknologi pembenihan ikan mas hingga pendederan tahap kedua. Hasil kegiatan menjukkan bahwa keterampilan pembenih untuk melakukan kegiatan pembenihan khususnya pada pendederan tahap kedua masih perlu ditingkatkan. Hal ini diindikasikan dengan nilai sintasan dan produktivitas usaha pembenihan ikan mas masih relatif rendah. Dengan peningkatan keterampilan dan produktivitas pembenihan ikan mas di wilayah tersebut, diharapkan kebutuhan benih ikan mas untuk pembesaran di Waduk Cirata dapat dipenuhi oleh pembenih lokal, sehingga rantai distribusi tidak terlalu panjang dan harga benih menjadi lebih murah.

Abstract

Mahseer (Tor spp.) is a freshwater fish commodity with a high market value. However, its slow growth to reach consumable size has resulted in inadequate production. The aim of this study is to analyze the hybrid vigor - that are heterosis, heterobeltiosis, and growth performance - of a crossbred population of Mahseer (Tor spp) resulting from interspecies breeding. Broodstock of Mahseer from three different species were prepared for reciprocal breeding, producing nine offspring populations consisting of six hybrid offspring and three purebred offspring populations. The breeding process was carried out using artificial breeding methods, employing intramuscularly injected breeding stimulant hormones. Results show that the hybrid population of Tor soro and Tor tambroides exhibits better heterosis and heterobeltiosis in final weight, specific growth rate, and survival rate. The crossbreeding of Tor soro and Tor tambroides also exhibited better growth performance compared to other crossbred population in terms of final weight growth, specific growth rate, and survival rates, which were 64.20 g, 1.42%/day,  and 100% respectively.

Abstract

Keunggulan pertumbuhan dan produktivitas ikan mas hibrida kandidat rilis, yaitu hibrida Majalaya betina >< Sutisna jantan (Mj >< St), perlu didukung dengan ketahanan terhadap penyakit serta toleransi terhadap cekaman lingkungan abiotiknya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi daya tahan ikan mas hibrida Mj >< St terhadap infeksi bakteri Aeromonas hydrophila serta toleransi terhadap cekaman lingkungan abiotik, yaitu suhu, pH, salinitas, dan amonia. Pengujian ketahanan penyakit dan toleransi lingkungan ikan mas hibrida kandidat rilis dilakukan secara terbatas di laboratorium. Sebagai pembanding, digunakan ikan mas unggul Marwana yang diperoleh dari unit pembenihan rakyat. Hasil uji tantang dengan bakteri A. hydrophila menunjukkan bahwa ikan mas hibrida Mj >< St mempunyai sintasan yang secara nyata lebih baik (P < 0,05) dibandingkan strain pembanding, yaitu 96,7 ± 2,9% berbanding 83,3 ± 5,8%. Ikan mas hibrida Mj >< St juga mempunyai toleransi yang berbeda nyata lebih baik (P < 0,05) dibandingkan ikan mas Marwana, khususnya terhadap suhu, pH, dan salinitas. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan nilai LT50 ikan mas hibrida yang lebih baik dibandingkan strain pembanding, masing-masing sebesar 3,6 ± 0,6 menit berbanding 2,0 ± 0,6 menit pada suhu rendah (10,0-12,0°C) dan 7,5 menit berbanding 4,1 menit pada suhu tinggi (38,0-40,0°C); 38,2 ± 1,7 menit berbanding 21,6 ± 0,9 menit pada pH rendah (3,0) dan 12,3 ± 2,4 menit berbanding 6,0 ± 1,6 menit pada pH tinggi (12,0); dan 85,6 ± 11,1 menit berbanding 34,0 ± 12,1 menit pada salinitas sedang (20 g L-1). Daya toleransi ikan mas hibrida Mj >< St terhadap kandungan amonia perairan sebesar 3,0 mg L-1 tidak berbeda nyata (P > 0,05) dengan strain Marwana, masing-masing dengan LT50 sebesar 95,7 ± 74,4 menit berbanding 71,0 ± 48,1 menit. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ikan mas hibrida Mj >< St mempunyai ketahanan terhadap penyakit dan cekaman lingkungan abiotik lebih baik dibandingkan ikan mas Marwana yang sudah berkembang di pembudidaya.The superiority of growth and productivity of a hybrid carp candidate, the female Majalaya >< the male Sutisna (Mj >< St) could be a game changer if the hybrid carp also has disease resistance and high tolerance to abiotic environmental stressors. This study aimed to evaluate the resistance of the hybrid carp Mj >< St to Aeromonas hydrophila infection and its tolerance to abiotic environmental stressors, such as temperature, pH, salinity, and ammonia. The resistance and tolerance testing of the hybrid fish was carried out in a limited lab-scale experiment. A superior carp, namely Marwana, obtained from a private hatchery, was used as the comparison. Results of the challenge test to A. hydrophila showed that the Mj >< St hybrid carp had a significantly better (P < 0.05) survival rate of 96.7 ± 2.9% than the compared strain survival rate of 83.3 ± 5,8%. The Mj >< St hybrid carp also has significantly better (P < 0.05) tolerance than the Marwana carp, especially to the temperature, pH, and salinity changes. This was indicated by better LT50 values of the hybrid carp against the compared strain of 3.6 ± 0.6 minutes compared to 2.0 ± 0.6 minutes at low temperature (10.0-12.0°C), and 7.5 minutes versus 4.1 minutes at high temperature (38.0-40.0°C); 38.2 ± 1.7 minutes versus 21.6 ± 0.9 minutes at low pH (3.0), and 12.3 ± 2.4 minutes versus 6.0 ± 1.6 minutes at high pH (12.0); and 85.6 ± 11.1 minutes versus 34.0 ± 12.1 minutes at medium salinity (20 g L-1). The tolerance of hybrid carp Mj >< St to the ammonia level of 3.0 mg L-1 was not significantly different (P > 0.05) from that of the Marwana strain, in which the LT50 is 95.7 ± 74.4 minutes compared to 71.0 ± 48.1 minutes. These results indicate that the hybrid carp Mj >< St has better resistance to disease and abiotic environmental stressors than the Marwana carp that has been cultured by farmers.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of Brain-Based Learning (BBL) model on the ability to solve mathematical problems and self-efficacy of fourth grade elementary school students. The background of this study is based on the low ability to solve mathematical problems and self-efficacy of students in some elementary schools, as well as the limitations of the learning model applied today. This study uses a quantitative approach with quasi-experimental methods and Pretest-Posttest only Control Group Design. Subjects consisted of fourth grade elementary school students in Cilongok District, Banyumas, with samples taken from 4 elementary schools that apply the Independent curriculum using cluster random sampling technique. The BBL Model is applied to the experimental class, while the control Class uses the direct instruction method. The Data were collected through mathematical problem solving ability test and self-efficacy questionnaire, then analyzed using normality test, homogeneity test, and Independent Sample t-Test. The results showed that the BBL model has a significant effect on improving the ability to solve mathematical problems (count = 5.613, p = 0.000) and student self-efficacy (count = 5.195, p = 0.000). Thus, the application of the BBL model proved effective in improving both aspects in the fourth grade of elementary school students.
