Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of peer social support on fear of failure in academic assignments among students in Medan City. Based on the results of research on the influence of peer social support on fear of failure in students in Medan, it can be concluded as follows: Regression analysis shows that peer social support influences 54.5% (R² = 0.545) of fear of failure in students' academic assignments in Medan. The remaining 45.5% is influenced by other factors outside the research model. This result indicates a positive relationship: the higher the social support received, the higher the level of fear of failure experienced by students. The results of the statistical test show a t value of 20.430, while the t value in the table with 348 degrees of freedom is 1.649. because the calculated t value (20.430) is greater than the t value in the table (1.649), the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. This means that there is a significant influence between peer social support on fear of failure in students' academic assignments. A total of 317 respondents (90.6%) of students in Medan have a high level of peer social support. In parallel, 316 respondents (90.3%) were in the high category for fear of failure, indicating that the majority of students experienced both conditions simultaneously.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to look at the differences in self-regulated learning (SRL) strategies for students who join and do not join organizations in Universitas HKBP Nommensen (UHN). The hypothesis in this study is that there are differences in SRL strategies between students who join organizations and students who do not join organizations. This study used quantitative approach, with research subjects consisting of 130 students who join the organization and 130 students who do not join the organization. The instrument used in this study is the SRL strategy scale. Based on hypothesis testing using the independent t-test, it was found that there were significant differences in SRL strategies between students who join organizations and those who do not join organizations (t = 2.63, p <0.05) in which students who join organizations were significantly higher in using SRL strategies compared to students who do not join the organizations. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that active involvement in the organization provides self-regulation training experiences for students so that the use of SRL strategies is higher in the learning process.

Abstract

In the patrilineal culture of the Batak tribe, marriage is a societal expectation for adult men, and remaining unmarried can lead to significant pressure, resulting in feelings of frustration and failure. Religiosity and self-compassion are believed to positively impact the psychological well-being of unmarried early adult men within the Batak tribe. This study aims to explore the influence of religiosity and self-compassion on the psychological well-being of these men. The research involved 66 participants who were early adult, unmarried, and of Batak ethnicity. The instruments used in the study included scales for religiosity, self-compassion, and psychological well-being, with data analyzed through multiple regression analysis. The findings indicate that: 1) religiosity does not significantly influence psychological well-being, and 2) selfcompassion has a positive impact on psychological well-being. It is recommended that unmarried early adult men in the Batak tribe enhance their self-compassion by cultivating positive self-assessment and self-respect in various situations, particularly in response to the stress of being unmarried
