Abstract

Electrical energy has become a part of our lives. Even, for some people has become the primary requirement that can’t be eliminated. This can affect the sources of energy used in the process of power generation. Therefore, the presence sources of renewable energy is needed to increase the energy supply for the community. In this case, authors tried to do some research to harness the flow of water in the PDAM Way Sekampung pipe as micro hydro power plant (MHP) The advantage of making the MHP's pipeline PDAM isn’t need for the manufacture of civilian buildings by making MHP is only by utilizing the existing water flow in a pipeline, so the production cost can be reduced. Moreover, can give an idea on the PDAM and the public that the pipeline PDAM that had been used only as a water distribution, can be used as power plant. The purpose of this study was to determine the discharge and head PDAM pipelines and then dimensional turbine design based on the potential obtained. The survey was conducted to obtain primary data and secondary data. The primary data is data acquired directly, while secondary data is the data obtained from documents stored on PDAM Way Sekampung. From the research, discharge obtained an average of 46.287 L/s in normal conditions, and have the water level (head) of 5,998 m from the location of the turbine. The potential of the PDAM Way Sekampung, can generate power of 2,057 Kw. Results dimensional turbine design based on primary data or the direct retrieval, turbine shaft diameter 20 mm, 239 mm runner diameter, blade length 212 mm, a thickness of blade 1 mm and blade number 20.Keywords: Energy, Potential, Micro hydro, cross-flow turbine

Abstract

Electricity is very important in human life. In Indonesia,electricity is a basic necessity for society and industry. Electrical energy supply in Indonesia is targeted to use the 5% comes from renewable energy, it has been included in the government regulation No. 3 of 2005. One of the power plants that are potentially is Micro Hydro Power (MHP), which is an implementation of the green energy initiative to encourage renewable energy step. If the MHP potential can be developed, then at least 12,000 MWh or 14% of Indonesia's total energy needs in 2005 are contributed by the MHP.The purpose of this final project: " Feasibility Study of micro hydro power plant (MHP) on arter river at hurun village Padang Cermin district Pesawaran region lampung " is to plan a hydroelectric small scale power plant that can be used and applied as a fulfillment of electrical energy in Indonesia, especially for people who can not enjoy electricity.The Procedures to obtaining data for Head cleaner using a plastic hose method and calculation method, so the net head of 11.15 m obtained. To determine the amount of water flow, the method used is the method of floating objects, as well as doing some calculations and obtained intake capacity of 66.7 l / s. And the resulting power of 5.10 Kw. From data result, turbine suitable types is crossflowtubine.Keywords: micro hydro power plant, water discharge, crossflow turbine.

Abstract

Singkong dapat diolah menjadi berbagai produk olahan pangan, diantaranya yang cukup popular adalah opak singkong. Desa Ulangan Jaya, Kabupaten Pesawaran, Lampung merupakan salah satu produsen opak yang memiliki area penjualan hingga ke wilayah Kab. Lampung Selatan, dan Kotamadya Bandar Lampung. Dalam proses produksi opak, metoda pengeringan yang digunakan masih bersifat tradisional, yaitu dengan cara manual melalui penjemuran di bawah terik matahari. Kegiatan pengabdian kepeda masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan mitra produsen opak mengenai teknologi proses pengeringan menggunakan kolektor surya atau tenaga matahari, dan mengimplemantasikan alat pengering opak dengan teknologi kolektor matahari. Alat pengering menggunakan kolektor matahari merupakan teknologi yang dapat memberikan manfaat kepada masyarakat. Dengan adanya kegiatan sosialisasi dan implementasi ipteks pengering kolektor surya ini, produsen opak dan masyarakat sekitar Desa Ulangan Jaya lebih tertarik terhadap teknologi pengeringan pada produk makanan dengan cara dan biaya yang cukup ekonomis. Hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan motivasi dan pengetahuan warga mengenai alat pengering dari 37,5% menjadi 90,0%, atau terjadinya peningkatan sebesar 52,5%.

Abstract

Counter Rotating Wind Turbine (CRWT) is one of the developments of horizontal axis wind turbines that utilize two rotors rotating in opposite directions to increase the efficiency of wind energy conversion. This study aims to analyze the aerodynamic characteristics of CRWT using the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method by studying the effect of variations in the distance between the rotors on turbine performance. The blade model used consists of three blades using the S826 airfoil from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Simulations were carried out using the Moving Reference Frame (MRF) method with the Realizable k-ε turbulence model. The variations analyzed include the distance between the rotors Z/D₁ of 0.25 and 1 at a rotor rotation ratio of 0.6 with a Tip Speed ​​Ratio (TSR) of 6. The simulation results show that the CRWT configuration produces a higher power coefficient than a single rotor turbine. The maximum power coefficient value obtained reaches around 0.52 or an increase of 14.61% compared to the Single Rotor Wind Turbine (SRWT). The flow velocity distribution shows that the distance between the rotors affects the wake interaction and energy distribution on the rear rotor. The configuration with a distance of Z/D₁ = 0.25 produces a more uniform flow distribution, thus improving aerodynamic performance, while the distance of Z/D₁ = 1 shows a greater wake interaction so that the rear rotor efficiency decreases slightly. The results of this study indicate that optimizing the inter-rotor distance is an important parameter in improving the performance of CRWT under the same operating conditions.
