Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the addition of reflectors to increase energy production and simultaneously to determine the change in temperature of solar cell as a result of the addition of the quantity of incoming sunlight. Capacity of the solar cell module is approximately 50 Wp, where the test is done from 9 am to 3 pm for three days. The reflector's slope angle used is 1000, 1100, and 1200. The results of this study indicate an increase in output power of the solar cell module an average of 2.59% (with 4.42% at maximum).The side effect is the increase in maximum temperature of the solar cells by 0.60C (or 1.59%).

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendapatkan model pemprediksian performansi aerodinamika dari turbin angin Darrieus dengan metode multiple streamtube, memvalidasi model yang didapat dengan model yang sudah ada, dan menggunakan model hasil validasi untuk memprediksi dan menghasilkan data baru untuk turbin dengan skala, ukuran, bentuk, jenis sudu, kecepatan angin  yang berbeda. Dua bentuk sudu rotor turbin juga diadopsi dan dua kumpulan data dari dua jenis sudu yang berbeda dipergunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk melihat seberapa besar perbedaan hasilnya. Torsi dan koefisien daya yang dibangkitkan meningkat seiring penurunan koefisien drag yang merupakan fungsi dari bilangan Reynold. Sudu jenis NACA 0012 jauh lebih baik perfomansinya bila dilihat dari koefisien dayanya.

Abstract

Electrical energy is needed by the citizen of Indonesia including in Palembang City. Palembang is growth rapidly, in contrast there is still citizen who has not enjoyed  the electricity especially who is living in Sukamulya Village, Sematang Borang Sub-ditrict. Constructing a Micro Hydro Powerplant is an effort to facilitate an electircity to the area which has not been covered by PT. PLN. Howefer before constructing a hydro  power plant, a study should be conducted in order to estimate the potency of electrical power which could be generated. Therefore the authors have collected some primary datas such as dimension of river, velocity of water and geographical condition. These datas is used to calculate the potency of energy, either in form of potential or kinetic energy. Based on the on-site observation, all locations have no enough elevation difference. Nevertheles the onlyform of  energy which can be converted into electrical energy is kinetic energy, which determined by the river flow velocity. The fastest river flow is found  in Location of B amounting 0.35 m/s. By optimazing the dimension of turbine and considering the efficiency of transmision and generator, it predicts Turbine, located in Location B, can generate electrical energy with the maximum power of 66.26 Watt. Based on the results, the electrical power potency in all locations are low and did not fullfill the requirements. The power can be increased by levelling up the elevation of the upstream. It can be done by constructing a dam which  integrated with irrigation system. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to design a freezer system that is used to study the comparison of the performance of a 1/5 PK freezer with the working fluid R-134a and Musicool MC-134. In this research, the main components used are 1/5 PK hermetic compressor, plate surface evaporator, water cooled condenser, and capillary pipes. The research was carried out by replacing R-134a refrigerant with Musicool MC-134 without changing the supporting components of the system (retrofit). The results showed that the retrofit from R-134a to Musicool MC-134 was very capable and feasible to be implemented. The system will be safe if the components of the system used are in accordance with the prerequisites (from the old working fluid, R-134a), the opposite will cause insecurity due to susceptibility to leakage (since the substitution of working fluid, MC-134, is more flammable). In addition, the use of MC-134 will result in a temperature drop that is much faster than R-134a, in other words "cooler faster" which is 30% faster (for a set point temperature of -18oC). Keywords: Retrofit, Musicool, R-134a, MC-134, Freezer

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to test and determine the performance, and the factors that affect the performance of a solar water heater. The collector type is a flat plate and the configuration of collector pipe is serpentine. The results show that the important parameters are; the intensity of solar radiation, the sun's position for every hour, and the speed of the wind. The average efficiency of the solar water heater is 40.02%, while the average of the biggest  losses due to heat loss occur in the upper area of the collector box  is Ut = 2.09 W/m2.0C or 67.11% of total losses.  Keywords: Solar water heater, flat plate collector, serpentine, performance, losses

Abstract

Sampah adalah bahan yang tidak mempunyai nilai dan tidak dapat digunakan kembali. Indonesia masih memiliki banyak permasalahan sampah, dimana sampah yang dikirim ke TPA tidak diolah sama sekali. Aktivitas manusia setiap hari menghasilkan sampah, baik organik maupun anorganik, namun jumlah tempat penyimpanan sementara  sampah  terbatas. Oleh karena itu, apabila sampah tidak dikelola dengan baik maka akan terus menumpuk dan menimbulkan permasalahan baru serta kerusakan ekosistem alam sekitar. Desa Karang Bindu, Kota Prabumulih, Provinsi Sumatera Selatan memiliki permasalahan dalam mengelola sampah dimana sampah hanya dibuang ke tempat pembuangan sementara (TPS) dan dibakar pada ruang terbuka sehingga mencemari lingkungan. Pembuatan teknologi insinerator mini ramah lingkungan berfungsi untuk membakar sampah dan ditambah dengan sistem pengolahan asap yang dilengkapi dengan nozzle spray air agar tidak mencemari udara saat pembakaran sampah. Hasil penerapan teknologi ini telah diterapkan pada Kelompok Swadaya Masyarakat Desa Karang Bindu, Kota Prabumulih, Provinsi Sumatera Selatan dalam mengatasi permasalahan persampahan di tempat tersebut.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi dampak pemakaian secara periodik bentuk lain bahan bakar LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) terhadap performansi mesin kendaraan bermotor dan emisi gas buang yang dihasilkan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan membandingkan performansi mesin dan emisi gas buang pada kendaraan yang menggunakan LPG konvensional dan variasi bentuk lain dari LPG dalam periode tertentu. Data yang dikumpulkan meliputi pengukuran daya mesin, efisiensi bahan bakar, serta analisis emisi gas buang menggunakan alat uji emisi standar.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan bentuk lain bahan bakar LPG dapat mempengaruhi performansi mesin, di mana beberapa variasi menunjukkan peningkatan daya dan efisiensi bahan bakar dibandingkan dengan LPG konvensional. Selain itu, analisis emisi gas buang menunjukkan penurunan kadar emisi gas berbahaya pada beberapa jenis bahan bakar alternatif. Temuan ini memberikan wawasan baru mengenai potensi penggunaan bahan bakar LPG yang bervariasi dalam upaya mengurangi dampak lingkungan dan meningkatkan efisiensi kendaraan bermotor. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi pengembangan kebijakan energi dan teknologi kendaraan ramah lingkungan di masa depan.
