Abstract

High availability and scalability is a must have feature for server that owned by industrial sector. One concept that used by technology practitioner ishorizontal scaling. Horizontal scaling can be achieved by using load balancer. Even though those technology practitioner started to adopt containerization technology, those technology practitioner still using load balancer. The purpose of this research is to compare NGINX and HAPROXY performance as load balancer based on response time and error rate. Both NGINX and HAPROXY will run on docker that installed on various virtual machine type in both AWS and GCP. The result shows that based on writer’s configuration, NGINX could handle medium and heavy load better than HAPROXY. Another result shows that AWS could handle medium and heavy load better than GCP.

Abstract

Abstract — The network infrastructure at BPKAD (( Badan Pengelolaan Keuangan dan Aset Daerah) of South Sorong Regency has been established to provide connection access for each section head and relevant staff to the SIMDA server. To cater to internet needs, the BPKAD Office has subscribed to four distinct internet lines. This separate network topology poses challenges and limitations, such as immobility, instability, and suboptimal quota settings. To address this, the UKDW Team restructured the network topology at BPKAD. Community service is implemented using a Community-Based Research approach, where partners play an active role and collaborate in various aspects, from modeling the network needs analysis, establishing an integrated and seamless network, to preparing human resources. The network was redesigned by integrating the four internet lines, facilitating uninterrupted network connections, bandwidth management, user management, and load balancing settings. Activities were evaluated through successful connection tests, and access restrictions have been set for each user. The community service activity has been successfully conducted, evidenced by the increased satisfaction of office staff in accessing the internet. Internet usage has become more secure, and partners are now capable of resolving their issues independently.

Abstract

Layanan internet bandwidth berbagi di Indonesia memiliki keterbatasan bandwidth dan stabilitas yang dapat berfluktuasi tergantung pada jumlah pengguna. Pelanggan dimungkinkan berlangganan lebih dari 2 dan dilakukan penggabungan sebagai jalur cadangan. Nmun hal itu tidaklah memberikan manfaat yang optimal mengatasi keterbatasan yang ada. Load balancing dapat mengatasi keterbatasan tersebut dengan membagi beban lalu lintas data ke dalam beberapa rute jaringan. Penelitian ini mengukur kemampuan kinerja load balancing PCC dan ECMP menggunakan metode kuantitatif dan pendekatan eksperimen. Skenario utama meliputi penghitungan QOS dan throughput pada metode PCC dan ECMP. Penelitian pertama dilaksanakan untuk menghitung QOS menggunakan software Wireshark untuk melihat jitter, delay, dan packet loss dengan analisis 1500 data yang diambil sebanyak 30 kali perulangan dari satu PC yang terhubung ke router dan empat PC lain yang terhubung ke switch. Skenario dilakukan dalam 3 tipe topologi, yaitu: topologi jaringan tanpa menerapkan load balancing, topologi dengan menerapkan load balancing ECMP/NTH, dan topologi failover jaringan. Dalam tiap skenario, data diambil dengan mekanisme 4 perangkat mengunduh data 600 MB dan melakukan streaming kanal YouTube ukuran 720p. Penelitian kedua dilakukan melalui pengukuran throughput dengan fast.com pada satu PC yang dihubungkan ke router dan empat PC yang dihubungkan switch, dengan menggunakan skenario yang sama dengan penelitian pertama. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, kualitas koneksi load balancing antara metode PCC dan ECMP untuk parameter QoS dan throughput pada pengujian awal, tidak ada perbedaan throughput yang signifikan antara operator GSM XL, IM3, dan ISP Telkom. Analisis QoS menggunakan Wireshark menunjukkan bahwa metode load balancing PCC memberikan delay dan jitter terkecil, sementara metode ECMP memberikan packet loss, delay, dan jitter terendah. Data throughput menunjukkan bahwa PCC memiliki download tertinggi (16 Mbps) sedangkan ECMP memiliki upload tertinggi (6.167 Mbps). Selain itu, berdasarkan simpangan baku, metode PCC lebih stabil dibandingkan ECMP.

Abstract

The implementation of a remotely accessible network laboratory at FTI UKDW commenced in 2022, utilizing a VPN (Virtual Private Network) based remote system. Previous research identified several technical challenges in its implementation, coupled with periodic subscription cost constraints. Consequently, this study aims to redesign the system by adopting port forwarding as an alternative, with the expectation of optimizing the remote laboratory implementation while reducing maintenance costs. This research focuses on analyzing the performance quality of the redesigned remote laboratory using the port forwarding method. Additionally, the study aims to measure the level of comfort among students in using the remote network laboratory system through the collection of questionnaire data. The results of the research indicate that the redesign with the port forwarding method can be implemented as expected. Students expressed a high level of satisfaction, reaching 50%, with the majority finding it easy to access practical tools and considering the system user-friendly.

Abstract

Laboratorium jaringan komputer menjadi aspek krusial dalam pembelajaran dan praktikum, meskipun keterbatasan perangkat jaringan menjadi tantangan utama. Pembelajaran jaringan menggunakan simulator atau pun emulator dapat menghemat biaya, namun mempunyai keterbatasan tidak seperti menggunakan piranti asli. Pembelajaran menggunakan remote laboratorium menjadi alternatif solusi untuk permasalahan tersebut. Implementasi remote laboratorium dengan protokol IPv6 menggunakan pendekatan metode deskriptif telah berhasil dilakukan. Implementasi ini memberikan manfaat signifikan bagi mahasiswa dalam mengerjakan praktikum secara remote. Wawancara terbimbing dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi kenyamanan penggunaan remote lab. Hasil wawancara untuk evaluasi penggunaan remote lab yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas responden (81,3%) merasa terbantu dengan adanya piranti jaringan yang dapat di-remote dengan alamat IPv6. Sementara itu, sebagian kecil (10,4%) responden lebih memilih menggunakan GNS3 atau Packet Tracer. Terkait permasalahan koneksi ke router remote, mayoritas responden (52,1%) merasa bahwa koneksi internet di tempat tinggal mereka sangat lancar untuk mengakses piranti remote di Laboratorium Jaringan Komputer. Sebaliknya, 39,6% responden mengalami kendala dengan koneksi yang kurang lancer. 8,3% responden merasa koneksi mereka tidak lancar, kadang-kadang terputus saat konfigurasi, berpotensi menyebabkan kegagalan konfigurasi.

Abstract

Pada teknologi modern, Internet merupakan hal yang sangat penting. Dunia Pendidikan seperti Universitas memiliki ketergantungan tinggi terhadap internet. Penggunaan internet dengan Bandwidth yang besar jika hanya diperoleh dari satu penyedia layanan internet dapat menimbulkan banyak resiko. Universitas- universitas saat ini menggunakan lebih dari satu penyedia layanan internet atau sering disebut Internet Service Provider (ISP), sehingga diperlukan cara agar pembagian Bandwidth pada dua atau lebih jalur ISP dapat seimbang. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan metode Load Balancing untuk mengatasi hal tersebut dengan mendistribusikan traffik jaringan ke beberapa jalur. Pada penelitian ini penulis membandingkan kinerja dua metode Load Balancing yaitu ECMP (Equal-Cost Multi-Path) dan NTH pada router mikrotik. Pengujian penerapan load balancing dilakukan dengan dengan memandingkan kecepatan bandwidth sesudah dan sebelum implementasi load balancing. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan memberikan penugasan pada piranti penelitian untuk melakukan download file dengan ukuran 200 MB sampai 500 MB. Setiap piranti juga diminta untuk request pada router agar mengakses youtube. Pengolahan data dilakukan menggunakan metode QoS dengan cara menghitung kualitas kinerja kedua metode yang telah diimplementasikan. Pada QoS terdapat beberapa parameter yang digunakan untuk membandingkan hasil kinerja metode ECMP dan NTH yaitu Delay, Packet Loss, Jitter dan Throughput. Hasil sebelum adanya Load Balancing cenderung lebih buruk dibandingkan sesudah penerapan load balancing. Hasil keseluruhan pengujian parameter QoS melalui switch untuk metode ECMP memiliki hasil yang lebih baik daripada NTH dengan nilai Packet Loss 0.996%, Delay 0.3539 ms, dan Jitter 0.3377 ms.

Abstract

The Covid19 pandemic demands creativity in teaching LAN Infrastructure practicum. The limitations of meetings conducted online require skills improvement training for students. Network simulators and emulator programs have several disadvantages when compared to the direct use of network devices. The implementation of the LAN Infrastructure Practicum Laboratory during the Work From Home Period can already be tested in the Informatics Study Program of Duta Wacana Christian University. The implementation of remote network devices to support the LAN Infrastructure practicum is made by utilizing the available internet network. Connecting devices from anywhere are possible using Open-VPN so that students seem to be present in person in the laboratory and can access available network devices. Device trials can already be carried out to access 12 Cisco routers, 5 Mikrotik routers, and 12 access points. The beneThe benefit rate of remote labs from a student point of view is 62,5%. Smooth access from home to remote labs is only 70% due to network constraints.

Abstract

This study develops a Python-based configuration file management application to automate backup and recovery of network devices in the Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana laboratory, which uses Cisco and Mikrotik devices. The goal is to understand the impact of automation on the effectiveness of backup and recovery, support for remote configuration file management, reduction of recovery time, and its impact on operational sustainability. The Waterfall method is applied with the stages of analysis, design, implementation, testing, and evaluation, using network topology data, device information, and network protocols collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. Testing includes scenarios of full and partial backup and recovery, error handling (credentials, lost files, unresponsive devices), and FTP server and database failure conditions on a network topology consisting of four identical blocks with Mikrotik routers and switches. The test results show that the application functions as expected, with all scenarios running smoothly without significant failures, including the ability to filter data according to parameters and detect credential errors. This system is concluded to have met the test objectives and is ready to be implemented.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of integrating Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), and Model-Driven Development (MDD) methodologies within the Scrum framework on the effectiveness and efficiency of software development. Through comprehensive literature analysis, this research explores how each methodology strengthens specific aspects of the Scrum process. TDD was found to enhance the reliability and accuracy of development with an emphasis on continuous testing, while BDD improves communication and collaboration among stakeholders by using clear and easily understandable language. MDD provides an efficient mechanism to address complex system designs through abstract models that are automatically converted into code. The findings indicate that the integration of these three methodologies significantly improves the quality and speed of development by leveraging the specific strengths of each methodology to optimize the development cycle in Scrum projects. The implications of these findings are relevant for practitioners engaged in Agile software development as well as academics interested in further research on development methodologies
