Abstract

Rigid motion is a transformation consisting of some rotations andtranslations operation which leave a given shape or arrangementunchanged. In other words, a rigid motion of a shape is a way of movingthe shape without bending tearing or distorting it, so that it looks thesame. Reflectiorl on the other hand, is the operation ofexchanging allpoints of a mathematical object with their mirror images (i.e., reflectionsin a minor). This paper is aimed to discuss the set of rigid motion and reflection ofsome shapes, together with the operation of compositions which form agroup, called the group of s;rmmetries, of the shape. The operation ofcompositions is commonly written in usual order, (for example, if rmeans rotation, and ft reflects about horizontal axis-ft, then the operationur o h" means we do rigid motion Ir first, followed by r). This paper alsoshows that the rigid motion can be wrifien as permutation, but not allpermutations are rigid motion. Keywords: rigid motion.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to describe and analyze the ability to understand the concept of absolute value equations and inequalities in class X IPS students at SMAN 13 Padang. Analyze students' conceptual understanding abilities in this study, can be seen from four indicators, namely: (1) rewriting a concept; (2) presenting concepts in the form of mathematical representations; (3) using, utilizing, and selecting certain procedures or operations; (4) apply concepts or algorithms in problem-solving. The question in this study is how is the ability to understand the concept of absolute value equality and inequality in class X IPS students at SMAN 13 Padang. The method in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive research type. The subjects in this study were 33 class X IPS 1 students at SMAN 13 Padang who were selected by purposive sampling. From the results of the research conducted, the ability to understand students' mathematical concepts as an indicator of the ability to understand mathematical concepts, especially in rewriting a concept and presenting concepts in the form of mathematical representations, is very good. On indicators of the ability to understand concepts in using, utilizing, and selecting certain procedures or operations and applying algorithms in problem-solving with the sufficient category. From the research results obtained, it is suggested that teachers can provide exercises to improve students' ability to understand mathematical concepts. Abstract

One effort to improve elementary school students' arithmetic (numeracy) skills is to use learning media in the form of an abacus. The abacus, also known as mental arithmetic, is a medium for developing thinking and calculating abilities in mathematics and is able to balance the abilities of the right and left brain. Therefore, SD 01 Ulak Karang teachers need to improve their skills in using the abacus, so that these skills can be mastered and provided to students well. The method of this activity includes basic level abacus training, namely (1) introducing body posture when using an abacus, (2) introducing the rules and how to operate/move the abacus beads, (3) introducing number notations represented by one or a group of abacus beads. (4) introduce the technique of calculating addition and subtraction using an abacus and practice questions. Based on the results of this activity, the teachers at SDN 01 Ulak Karang Selatan are familiar with the technique of calculating with an abacus and can use the abacus to carry out addition and subtraction operations correctly and quickly. The teachers were very enthusiastic about being able to master all the techniques and calculation operations with the abacus.
