Abstract

Mental health for teenagers needs attention, especially for students with non-formal education (Sanggar Kegiatan Belajar 26 Bintaro). Everyday problems, at school and at work, are triggers for students to experience mental health problems. Mental health education is very necessary, considering that there are no mental health services and no guidance and counseling teachers, as well as tools to help carry out early detection. The design of the Smart-smile application was built using a prototype method to help carry out early detection. The measuring tool used in screening is the Self Reporting Questionnaire-20 (SRQ-20). By using the Smart Smile application, early detection of mental health can be easily done.

Abstract

Abstract

In-depth ongoing research has explained that a person's Grit is influenced by consistency of interest and persistence. However, not many have examined whether there are other factors that can contribute to increasing Grit. . To measure Grit, we used the Indonesian version of Teacher Grit Scale (TGS), then to measure the level of Playfulness, we used Adult Playfulness Trait Scale (APTS), and Playful Work Design (PWD) scale was used to measure the level of Playful Work Design. We use predictive-correlational designed, with statistical analysis using multiple linear regression techniques using SPSS IBM version 25. The findings shows   Playfulness personality and Playful Work Design simultaneously predict Grit in early childhood teachers. Playfulness and Playful Work Design provide an influence on Grit by 29.8%, while the other influence of 70.2% comes from other factors not examined in this research. The results of this research show that a playful personality alone is not enough, but must be accompanied by cognitive abilities to design oneself and the environment to be playful, in order to significantly influence PAUD Teacher Grit

Abstract

Long-distance marriage (LDM) can pose significant challenges for couples in preserving emotional intimacy, trust, and overall relationship stability, highlighting the importance of resilience in sustaining connections. This study investigated the interplay between spirituality, WhatsApp communication, and resilience in long-distance marriages. Resilience encompasses a couple's ability to effectively navigate challenges within a long-distance marriage (LDM). This study employed a quantitative correlational design and included 138 married individuals who have been engaged in LDM for at least one year. Data collection involved questionnaires assessing WhatsApp communication, spirituality measured by the Daily Spiritual Experiences Scale (DSES), and couple resilience evaluated through the Couple Resilience Inventory Scale (CRIS). Analyses were performed using IBM SPSS. The results indicated a positive correlation between WhatsApp communication and positive resilience behaviour (r = 0.489, p < 0.01), along with a negative correlation with negative resilience behaviour (r = -0.442, p < 0.01). Furthermore, spirituality exhibited a positive correlation with positive resilience behaviour (r = 0.422, p < 0.01) and a negative correlation with negative resilience behaviour (r = -0.299, p < 0.01). WhatsApp communication and spirituality accounted for 28.6% of the variance in couple resilience, with other factors influencing the remaining percentage. These findings suggest that both digital communication and spirituality play significant roles in enhancing resilience among couples in long-distance relationships.

Abstract

The world is gradually recovering from the coronavirus outbreak, which was first declared in early 2020 and the pandemic is slowly shifting into an endemic. This transition has brought a profound effect on individuals’ mental states. Grief over the loss of loved ones and general suffering appear simultaneously with gratitude because of receiving social support and surviving among many other things. One of the effective and inexpensive interventions to deal with depression is expressive writing. To date, this intervention is still popular. There are two types of expressive writing, the first is writing down negative events, and the second is writing positive things or gratitude writing. These two writing techniques are generally not combined and alone rarely result in immediate effect (Baikie & Wilhelm, 2005). The purpose of this research is to find out the immediate effect of expressing negative events as well as gratitude writing, combining the two writing techniques with the perspective of cathartic-insight theory and gratitude. In the course of this research, expressive-gratitude writing was carried out for three consecutive days. The participants wrote about negative events on the first day, the impact of negative events from the perspective of others on the second, and on the last day, they wrote a letter of gratitude and learning. Immediately after completing the tasks, the depression level of the research participants (N=50, M-age= 33.69; n-woman= 40, n-man= 10) was measured using the BDI-II (21 items) and the Gratitude Questionnaire (6 items). The statistical test using the paired t-test revealed a significant decrease in the BDI-II average score and a significant increase in the gratitude average score. In contrast to previous studies which found that the immediate effect of expressive writing was either enhancing distress or showing no effect whatsoever, this research suggested that the immediate effect of expressive-gratitude writing could significantly reduce negative emotions and increase gratitude.
