Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk:  (1) mengungkap sikap guru terhadap pemaanfaatan teknologi informasi internet sebagai media pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di SMA. (2) Menjelaskan tingkat kemampuan guru dalam penerapan teknologi informasi komunikasi dalam proses belajar mengajar di sekolah. (3) Menguraikan hubungan sikap guru terhadap internet dan tingkat kemampuannya menggunakan internet sebagai media pembelajaran di sekolah, dan (4) mendeskripsikan tingkat frekuensi guru dalam mengakses internet sebagai media pembelajaran di sekolah.Penelitian menggunakan desain metode kuantitatif dan kualitatif (mixing), yang terdiri dari dua prosedur: (1) rancangan kuesioner, dan (2) penggunaan interview. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMA 3 Muhammadiyah dan SMK 1 Muhammadiyah di kota Batu.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru memiliki sikap positif terhadap pentingnya penggunaan teknologi informasi komunikasi internet sebagai media pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, guru memiliki tingkat kemampuan yang Baik ketika menggunakan teknologi informasi komunikasi dalam proses belajar mengajar di sekolah, terdapat hubungan signifikan antara sikap guru terhadap TIK dan tingkat penguasaanya sebagai media pembelajaran, dan kesulitan yang dihadapi guru dalam memanfaatkan internet sebagai media pendidikan di sekolah ada dua yaitu (1) tantangan atau kesulitan teknis dan (2) kesulitan non teknis.

Abstract

The novel entitled "Uncle Tom's Cabin", for instance, was firstly published in 1852 and sold 7 milions copies. American newspaper is started when Boston News-Letter became first regularly published American newspaper in 1704. In 1791, Bill of Rights was ratified in America in which government protected press from censorship. It was proved by First Amendment. Moreover, American megazine was firstly published in 1741. In 1821, "saturday Evening Post" was published. Then, first megazine boom occured during 1865 to 1900.

Abstract

Suharyadi, the general secretary of the Consultative Board of Private Universities, said that the quality of education would be better if teachers' and lecturers' welfare were improved. The statement seems logical. In Practice, however, is not so simple as that. Because there are many factors in the practice of teaching and learning process which affect the lecturers to achieve the instructional goals such as the background of lecturers, the background fo students, and the condition of campus as a place to transfer knowledge and technology.

Abstract

There are two main objectives in conducting this research, namely: 1) describing how popular culture can be designed into English teaching materials; 2) explaining how to implement English teaching material containing popular culture in the classroom. This study uses qualitative methods using interviews and text or document analysis techniques as research instruments. The informants interviewed were postgraduate students of the English Language Education Department, University of Muhammadiyah Malang, Indonesia. They took the Material Development course. And the documents analyzed were learning devices such as syllabus and teaching plan that had been designed. The research data is in the form of interviews and texts related to popular culture such as pictures, music, food and drinks, sports and books. The results of the study show that popular culture such as images of food and drinks, music, sports and entertainment can be developed into English teaching materials. Informants implemented English teaching material that contained popular culture in the classroom through peer teaching programs.

Abstract

In this rapidly growing world, English plays an important role in the international communication, business and education. Vrielink (2011) said that The Internet is going through a major change with the introduction of social media applications such as Twitter, Blogs, and Facebook. Social media applications are used more and more in our daily personal and professional lives and it seems clear that the way we use the Internet is rapidly changing. This change could have profound implications for the way we use the Internet, for the way we do business, and for the way we learn. The problems of this research are asfollows: I. What is the model of the use of internet media in Englishs subject? 2. How is the students' perception to the importance of internet media in reading course? 3. How important is the internet for the students? 4. How frequent do the students access internet to get meaningful information? In this study, the writer uses descriptive method to find out the answers of the research problems. To get relevant and valid data, the researcher uses structured questionnaires and documentation to reveal the the use of internet model by teachers. Structured questionnaire is used to describe theimportance of internet media in reading subject for the student...,'of SMA Muhammdiyah 1 Kepanjen and SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Sumberpucung. Then, the documentation is used to collect the data that is dealing with the students' frequency to access internet. The result of the study shows that there are three model of internet use at SMA Muhammadiyah I Kepanjen and SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Sumber Pucung East Java. The models are: I) Assignment, 2) Mentoring, and 3) Utilization Function Model. The perception of the students to the importance of internet media is strongly positive. This is suported by 182 students (90.83%) choose option HA" stated that internet media is important in English subject in the globalization era. According to students. internet media for English subject is very important. This statement is supported by 182 students (90.83%) choose option HA" stated that internet media is important in English subject. Moreover, students access internet in internet rental to do their homework more than twice in a week. The evidence is that there are 70 students (35%) stated that they often access internet for doing their homework, and there are 112 stuents (55.83%) stated that they go 10 internet rental to access internet.

Abstract

Writing ability plays all importallt role ill the students' academic life. Students' activities cannot be separated from writing. They have to write projects. propose a research. write a research report. etc. Writing ability enables students to disseminate information and new findings. This study aims (1) to describe the use of English proverbs to enhance the students writing achievement. (2) to reveal students' competence to write a purposive paragraph. (3) to describe the students' response to the use of the English proverbs in writing skill. The result of the study shows that (1) English proverbs can be considered as statement containing moral values. English proverbs call be used as teaching aids in teaching writing. (2) English proverbs enable lecturers to promote students' writing ability. This fact can be supported by the result of students' writing test that is 74.62. which can be categorized into a good category, such as proposed by Hartfiel et. al's Learning ESL Composition. (3) Based on the students' response, generally they have positive attitudes toward the use of English proverbs because it can help them to increase their writing ability. Moreover, English proverbs enable students to elaborate their ideas in writing a paragraph.

Abstract

This researh is about the implementation of extracurricular activities (ikrohist) for guide students’ attitude in SMK Penerbangan Techno Terapan Makassar. This research method is a qualitative research using of normative theology, pedagogic, physicologic, and sociologic. The research instruments used interview, observation, and documentation. Informant consisted of principal, refresentative of the school, and teachers. Data collection was done by observation, interview and documentation techniques.  Data analysis by means of data reduction, data presentation, conclusion and data verification.  The result of this research, there are: 1) Students’ attitudes in SMK Penerbangan Techno Terapan Makassar, after joining the extracurricular activities showed good attitudes. 2) Students’ Attitudes in SMK Penerbangan Techno Terapan Makassar based on the observation and interview that give awardness, discipline, extracurricular activities (Ikrohist) in SMK Penerbangan Techno Terapan Makassar consisted of three parts, they are dayly/weekly activities, monthly activities and annual activities.
