Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to study the determinants of income inequality at the provincial level in Indonesia, through observing MSMEs credit, government expenditure of education and health, school participation rate, and unemployment rate. We employed Fixed effect panel data, implementing Panel Corrected Standard Error (PCSE) and found that MSMEs credit, government expenditure on education, and school participation rate are significant in reducing income inequality. On the other hand, unemployment has been proven to have a positive impact on income inequality. However, implementation of National Health Insurance, relative to our period of observation, makes the result of government expenditure on health requires further analysis. Empirical result found that the increase in credit distribution to the MSME sector can reduce the level of income inequality and highest to lowest income ratio, on average in each province in Indonesia. The government is expected to focus on education and health budget to improve the community's quality of life. Kata Kunci: indeks Gini, pengeluaran pemerintah, highest to lowest income ratio, UMKM, ekspansi kredit

Abstract

The knowledge of the importance of exclusive breastfeeding is still low in East Nusa Tenggara. Many families have started providing complementary foods like bananas or porridge, to their babies when they are only 2 months old. Providing complementary foods since babies 2 months old will increase the possibility of diarrhea and pneumonia/respiratory of babies. This study has three objectives. The first objective tries to estimate the economic impact of non-breastfeeding in East Nusa Tenggara. The second objective tries to calculate the health system medical cost and the third objective tries to calculate the patient/non-medical cost. This paper calculates the patient cost from 153 patient data collected from Kupang district in 2016. This paper estimates the economic impact by combining the health system cost, patient/non-medical cost with the prevalence data from IDHS 2012. This study finds that total economic losses caused by non-exclusive breastfeeding due to diarrhea and pneumonia/respiratory about US$ 2,718,497.  This study finds the average cost due to non-exclusive breastfeeding for diarrhea cases about US$ 9.3 and PRD cases about US$8.4.

Abstract

Basic education is an important foundation for students' academic and social development. Not all students experience ease in obtaining and processing the information taught at school. Education is also the most important factor for the progress of a nation. Student learning difficulties are not only caused by low cognitive factors but are evidenced by deviant behavior or external factors that they experience, such as family and environmental support factors. Family and environmental support can also play an important role in overcoming learning difficulties for elementary school students. This study used a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. This study uses a descriptive approach design that aims to describe and analyze the phenomenon of learning difficulties of elementary school students. The population of this research is the Suradinaya elementary school. Random sampling technique has been used in this study. The instrument used was a learning difficulties questionnaire as a research measurement tool. Based on the diagram above, it can be seen that aspects of the child's self and family aspects have almost the same average percentage, with values of 66% and 65%. Environmental aspects get a higher average percentage, which is equal to 75%. There needs to be cooperation between schools, families, and the surrounding environment in creating a conducive and effective learning environment for students. In conclusion, student learning difficulties are influenced by various factors, both from aspects of the student's self as well as environmental and family factors. Thus, students will be able to achieve maximum academic achievement and achieve success in the future
