Abstract

North Bali is an area in the northern part of the island of Bali that posses many archaeological remains associated with the burial site. On of them is a diverse variety of goods burial treasures such as beads contained in Pangkungparuk, Seririt buleleng. These archaeological remains are evidence of a civilization that has taken place in this region. The purpose of this study is to determine the typology and technique of manufacture and raw materials used in the manufacture of beads contained in Pangkungparuk village, district Seririt Buleleng regency. The theories used in this research are the theory of typology and structural functional theory. The method used in this study is as follows, the data collection phase is done by observation, interview and literature study, then the second phase is data processing by analyzing data used analytical techniques articatural, contectual analysis, qualitative analysis and comparative analysis. From the analysis it can be concluded that the beads contained in the Site Pangkungparuk have various shapes of beads like round, oblate, double cone which cut the top, double cone concave, elliptical, ovate, flat, and disc cylinder. Technique used in making beads contained on the site pangkungparuk are shaping techniques for spherical beads and printing techniques for double cone beads, while the raw material for making beads vary from natural raw material such as of shells, rocks and pearls as well as raw material made of glass and bronze metal.

Abstract

Archeological heritage in Bali still functional and kept scares by the public by placing them in a temple, one of them is Puseh lan Bale Agung Tampuagan Temple, District of Tembuku, Bangli regency. The previous research conducted by the Institute for Preservation of Cultural Bali-NTB-NTT in 2001, discovered only to the extent of conservation or has not reached the stage of in-depth analysis. The objective of this study is to determine the form, period, and function of the archaeological heritage found Puseh lan Bale Agung Tampuagan Temple, Tembuku district, Bangli regency. The research method used in this study is the functional theory and the theory of religion. The first stage of method used to solve problems in this study is by collecting data through observation, interview, and library research. The second stage is data processing and analyzing data using qualitative, iconography, and contextual analysis. Based on the analysis, the conclusions are drawn in the form of archaeological heritage of 1 caturkaya statue that looks simple, 2 embodiment statues of bhatara, 5 embodiment statues of bhatari, 1 lingga tribhaga, 1 lingga above the lapik and stela, 1 fragment of lingga, 1 fragment of Ganesha statue, 4 fragments of statues, and fragments of buildings including 1 piece of building fragment above the lapik, 1 piece waterless building fragment, and 2 pieces of building fragments that might be a pillar. Archaeological heritage in Pura Puseh lan Bale Agung Tampuagan can be incorporated into the century of period Bali Madya because it has the characteristics of a style that was similar to the statue of Bali Madya contained in Puncak Penulisan Temple, the statue of the Bhatara in Sibi Agung Kesian Temple, statues pairs in Subak Taulan Kerobokan Temple, and the statue of the bhatari in Penataran Sasih Pejeng Temple. Archaeological heritage in Puseh lan Bale Agung Tampuagan Temple, Tembuku district, Bangli regency is still used as a means of worship by penyungsung temple. Societies or penyungsung temple consider that the archaeological heritage has religious power, magic, that on a certain day ceremony was held veneration of the archaeological heritage. The storage pelinggih penyimpen arca is trusted by the community as a means to seek refuge, safety, and fertility to plants and animals domesticated cattle community.

Abstract

Period Hindu-Buddha in Indonesian, Leaving behind a variety of archaeological heights. Research to investigate the definition statue Hindu-Buddha at Agung Batan Bingin Temple, Pejeng Kawan Village. The purpose of this study is to reconstruct the history of Balinese culture in the past especially its aspect of religment. The writer apply this method for accumulation file like library study, observasion, interview as well as analysis, iconography. The theory used to help analysis is the functional theory. Based on the results of the research Found that there is an iconography mark in the statues of Hindu-Buddha on Agung Batan Bingin Temple. Iconography mark show the variety of jewelry, clothing, art, and posture depiction. Statue Hindu-Buddha on Bingin Temple including to ancient Balinese periodic. Statue Hindu-Buddha on Agung Batan Bingin Temple untill now still being used as an instrument of veneration by the people of Bali performing religious ceremonies, the Balinese people used to call it "Penyungsung Pura". Statue Hindu-Buddha the, believed in society pejeng kawan village as a means of begging for protection, safety, and plants fertility in society Pejeng Kawan Village.

Abstract

The purposed this study is to know linguistic aspects of the Batu Jimbar inscription which includes script, language, spelling, and affixation. Furthermore, the research also discussed about the social aspects contained. Data collection methods used in this study were observation, literature study, and interviews with data processing through qualitative, interpretative, and epigrafi analysis. Based on the analysis of Batu Jimbar inscription, it can be known that the inscription used the ancient Balinese letters with the Old Javanese language. Batu Jimbar inscription used spellings that had been developed in the previous era, such as prefixes para-, ma-, pa-, ka-, sa-, um-, a-, and ha-, suffixes –?n, -nya, -an, and confixes (pa- + -ma), (ma- + -an), (a- + -an), (ka- + -an), ( ka- + -nya), (maka + -an). Socio-cultural aspects contained in the Batu Jimbar inscription is about the rights and obligations and social organizations that exist in it such as the rights and obligations that must be implemented by Indrapura residents by worshiping Bhatara (Gods) at Bukit Unggal (Hill).

Abstract

Religion is an important part of human life, because it is considered to have meaning in life. Because it takes an important role in the existence of society and social community. All aspect of religion contained in the inscription have an important role in the reign of the king Ugrasena. The problem discussed in this research was what are the aspects of religion that contained in the inscription during the reign of the king Ugrasena and related to the religious impact to the social life of society during the reign of the King Ugrasena This research used some method of collecting data, analyzing the data, and theory to solve the problem. The method of collecting data that used were observation, literature review, and interview. The next step, the data were procesed by using qualitative analysis, contextual analysis and analysis etnoarchaeology. The theories that used as the basic theory in this research is the theory of religion, ritual theory and fungsional structural theory to determine the role of religion to social life of the society during the reign of King Ugrasena. The results of this study found that the religious aspects, which were contained in inscriptions during the reign of King Ugrasena that there were the begining of the sects in ancient Bali, religious ceremony, sacred building, the tools of religious ceremony, as well as the religious figures in the erly days of ancient Bali. The role of religion to the social life of the society in the reign of the King Ugrasena showed that religion had a role in the society social interaction such as the basis of reference in the society, and also play a role as the legitimation of the power of King Ugrasena Kingdom
