Abstract

Micro business of wheat flour chips and cassava chips is a home business that many families do in Bulelengand Karangasem regency. In that home-based business, they are generally facing the similar problems suchas relatively low of efficiency and productivity. These problems are caused in the process of cutting or slicingraw material of chips that is still processed conventionally so it takes a long time.In this article, the slicing machine of chips is designed with cutting speed reaches of about 120 pieces/minute.The machine has three main parts such as the driving part of 0.25Hp DC-Motor, the slicing section with diskknife and guide section of sliced chips.

Abstract

Buahan Village is located in Payangan District, Gianyar Regency, Bali Province with 975 Ha area, dividedinto 5 sub villages namely Buahan, Gambih, Jaang, Satung and Susut. This village has a cool climate(temperature 180C - 280C), rainfall and springs are very supportive as agricultural, farms and plantationsareas. For the potential development of the village, there are several conditions that need to be empowered /optimized such as: biogas potential, management of cattle manure and organic waste, livestock sanitation, early financial governance knowledge, organic and non-organic waste separation, early anticipation of drugabuse and healthy life behavior. Empowerment programs implemented include: Counseling and training ofanimal feed production from organic waste and making fertilizer from cattle manure with bio fermentationtechnology, maintenance training and utilization of biogas as an environmentally friendly energy source, counseling and implementation of cattle shedding healthy, financial education and literacy, education aboutdanger of narcotics, psychotropic and additive substance, environmental sanitation and afforestation, makingtemple plan, socialization of organic and non-organic waste management. Implementation of these programsgained a very positive response and felt the benefits by the people of Buahan Village.

Abstract

Abstract

Biogas produced from cow dung at the Tulus Nadi Livestock Farmer Group in Banjar Gambih, Buahan Village, Payangan District, has been used as cooking fuel. However, the high sulfuric acid (H2S) content of biogas can reduce fuel quality and shorten the life of the biogas stove because H2S causes the components of the biogas stove to rust. This service aims to reduce the H2S content of biogas through the adsorption method, which employs activated carbon as an adsorbent. The service includes practice and instruction in desulfurizer installation, maintenance, and activated carbon regeneration. The test results show that the breeder understands and can use the desulfurizer tool effectively. The desulfurizer can reduce the H2S content to 95.9%, allowing the biogas produced to be used optimally for daily cooking purposes. Keywords: Biogas, adsorption, activated carbon, livestock waste

Abstract

The use of composite materials with superior mechanical properties has become an important focus in addressing the challenges of continuously advancing technology, particularly for applications that require lightweight materials with high strength and good corrosion resistance. One material that has attracted considerable interest is aluminum due to its favorable physical, mechanical, and chemical properties. However, aluminum has limitations in terms of hardness and wear resistance, which still need to be improved. This study aims to evaluate the effect of adding silicon carbide particles (SiCp) on the porosity characteristics and wear resistance of aluminum matrix composites (AMC) produced using the stir casting method, which is a technique involving the mixing of molten metal and reinforcement particles through continuous stirring. The casting process was carried out at a temperature of 700 °C. The variations of SiC composition used were 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4%. Wear testing was conducted using the reciprocating ball-on-flat method in accordance with the ASTM G133-05 standard, while the porosity level was analyzed through immersion of the samples in a liquid fluid. The results show that an increase in the weight fraction of SiC leads to a reduction in the wear rate, with the lowest wear rate reaching 1.27 × 10⁻⁷ g/cycle at a 4% SiC fraction and the highest at 0% SiC amounting to 1.84 × 10⁻⁶ g/cycle. In contrast, the porosity calculation shows an increasing trend from 1.85% at 0% SiC to 27.18% at a 4% SiC fraction.
