Abstract

The work presented in this paper is to investigate the wear rate and wear mechanism of medium carbon steel with carbon contents of about 0,5 wt.% under the friction load with various contact surface temperatures. The wear test was performed by using the linear reciprocating ball-on-flat wear test machine. To develop the elevated temperature on the surface of the wear test specimen, the heater assembled into the wear test machine. The surface temperature of the wear specimen was set in the range of 30 ºC up to 250 ºC. The test was taken under 5000 cycles of friction loading with a maximum of the normal load of 25N. The experiment results show that the change in the contact surface temperature in the range of 30 ºC up to 250 ºC causes the wear rate to increase slightly. This is because the elevated temperature at the surface was not high enough to cause the hardness of the material to decrease significantly. The worn surface looks very thin scratches and slightly deformed layers, and the wear mechanism had identified as oxide wear.

Abstract

Micro business of wheat flour chips and cassava chips is a home business that many families do in Bulelengand Karangasem regency. In that home-based business, they are generally facing the similar problems suchas relatively low of efficiency and productivity. These problems are caused in the process of cutting or slicingraw material of chips that is still processed conventionally so it takes a long time.In this article, the slicing machine of chips is designed with cutting speed reaches of about 120 pieces/minute.The machine has three main parts such as the driving part of 0.25Hp DC-Motor, the slicing section with diskknife and guide section of sliced chips.

Abstract

Soybean grinding machine has been used by many small industrial for tofu production to increaseproductivity. The addition of the water container with tap water on soybean grinding machine intended tohelp the soybean grinding process becomes faster and constant. How the changing of the flow water is canaffect the speed of production need to research in order to make predictions of tofu production.In this article, the extra water in the process of grinding soy is regulated varies (by opening the tap water of30°, 45°, 60°, 75° and 90° (full aperture)) to determine the speed of the production of soy porridge with tofuraw materials. The result has shown the greater water discharge the faster the soy pulp production process.

Abstract

Mesin saringan luluh bahan baku bata asab (bata merah gosok) dirancang dan dibuat untuk dapat meningkatkan produktifitas pengerajin batu bata asab. Mesin dirancang dengan tiga bagian utama yaitu bagian penggerak, penghancur dan bagian penyaring. Pada artikel ini, sudu pengaduk mesin saringan dibuat dengan jumlah 3 sudu pengaduk yang diposisikan sejajar poros. Selanjutnya diinvestigasi kapasitas produksi dan sisa bahan yang tidak dapat disaring.

Abstract

Dalam proses kontak gelinding-luncur, permukaan kontak yang basah karenaterperangkapnya air di daerah permukaan kontak dapat mengurangi kontak adhesi [Chen etal., Wear 253 (2002)]. Kondisi tersebut mungkin dapat mempengaruhi mekanismekegagalan aus material. Pada penelitian ini, tingkat keausan dan mekanisme aus materialakibat beban gelinding-luncur pada kondisi permukaan kontak basah diinvestigasi. Ujikeausan dilakukan dengan alat uji kontak dua disk dan material uji dipilih adalah baja karbon0.65%C dengan tekanan maksimum 750MPa dan rasio slip-roll 5%. Untuk uji aus padakondisi kontak basah, air diteteskan secara kontinyu pada permukaan kontak disk. Dari hasiluji terlihat dengan adanya air dipermukaan kontak, tingkat keausan yang terjadi mengalamipenurunan yang cukup besar sekitar 50% yaitu dari 6x10-4 ?m/putaran untuk kontak keringmenjadi 3x10-4 ?m/putaran pada kontak basah. Hal ini dapat terjadi mungkin diakibatkanoleh air yang ada dipermukaan kontak mampu membatasi areal kontak antara dua meterialkontak tersebut sehingga menurunkan gesekan yang terjadi dan mengakibatkan keausanmenurun. Pada kontak basah, material yang mengalami regangan geser plastis hanyaterjadi higga kedalaman kurang dari 100 ?m dan pada kontak kering regangan geser plastisdapat terjadi hingga kedalaman sekitar 400 ?m.Kata kunci: Baja karbon, kontak basah, ausIn rolling-sliding contact, the wet surface as a result of water trapped in the contact area canreduce adhesion [Chen et al., Wear 253 (2002)]. This condition may influence themechanism of wear on the contact material. In this work, the wear rate and wearmechanism of material on the wet contact surface were investigated. Wear test wasconducted using disc-to-disc contact test and carbon steel (0.65%C) was chosen as the testmaterial with the maximum pressure of 750MPa and slip-roll ratio of 5%. For the wear testwith the wet contact, water was dropped continuously on the contact surface. The resultsshow the wear rate on the material with wet contact was decrease significantly by about 50%i.e., from about 6x10-4 ?m/cycle for the dry contact to about 3x10-4 ?m/cycle for the wetcontact. This may be caused by the water trapped on the contact area reduces the contactadhesion between both the contact materials and causes the friction to decrease, andresulting wear to decrease. For the wet contact, the plastic shear strain on material occurredinto depth less than 100 ?m, and for the dry contact, the plastic shear strain on materialoccurred into depth about 400 ?m..Keywords: Carbon steel, wet contact, wear

Abstract

Abstrak:Proses sand-blasting merupakan proses yang dilakuan untuk membersihkan dan merubah kekasaran permukaan material. Proses ini umumnya dilakukan sebelum melakukan proses pelapisan permukaan material dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan daya rekat lapisan pada permukaan material yang dilapisi. Pada penelitian ini, proses sand-blasting dilakukan pada baja karbon sedang dengan variasi jarak nosel untuk memperoleh perubahan kekasaran permukaan material. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan perubahan jarak nosel pada proses sand-blasting memberikan pengaruh yang cukup signifikan pada kekasaran permukaan. Kata kunci: sand-blasting, baja karbon sedang, kekasaran permukaanAbstract:Sand-blasting is a process of surfaces treatment to clean and to roughen surface of material. This process is commonly used in preparing the surface before the coating process in order to increase the bond strength of the coating material on the surface of substrate material. In this work, sand-blasting process is conducted to the medium carbon steel with varying nozzle distance to the surface of material. Abstract

Repeated wheel load over rail can cause rail material at the contact surface to accumulate severe plasticdeformation. The material fails after accumulating a critical shear strain and produce wear debris and fatigue cracks. Duringrolling/sliding contact between railway rails and wheel, temperature will rais at the contact surface due to frictional heatingand thermal stress will develop. If the generation of heat is high enough the rail material may soften.In this work, a simulation based on ratchetting failure is used to study shear strain behaviour of rail material withfrictional heating in rolling/sliding contact between wheel and railway rail. The simulation results show the materialsoftening and thermal stress increase the rate of shear strain accumulation by ratchetting leading to fail material morequickly.

Abstract

Bali merupakan pintu gerbang pariwisata Indonesia, menjadi sorotan dunia bagaimanamengelola sampah. Reduce, Reuse dan Recycle disingkat 3R atau Mengurangi, MemakaiUlang dan Mendaur Ulang adalah prinsip utama mengelola sampah mulai dari sumbernya,melalui tiga langkah ini akan mampu mengurangi jumlah sampah yang dibuang ke TPA(Tempat Pengolahan Akhir). Pengelolaan sampah yang kurang baik dapat memberikanpengaruh negatif bagi kesehatan, lingkungan, maupun bagi kehidupan sosial ekonomi danbudaya masyarakat. Produksi sampah di TPA Linggasana Karangasem perhari adalah 120m3/hari atau sekitar 18,26 ton/hari, sampah plastik mencapai 22,6 %, yang bisa didaur ulangsekitar 17%. Jadi sampah plastik yang bisa didaur ulang adalah 3,1 ton/hari, ini merupakanpotensi bisnis yang sangat potensial.Masyarakat malas dalam memilah sampah organik dananorganik karena tidak memberikan nilai tambah kepada masyarakat, dilakukan pelatihan danpengenalan mesin pencacah sampah plastik sehingga masyarakat berminat dalam memilahsampah-sampah itu. Sampah plastik itu dijual ke pada kelompok Asri Linggasana ataukelompok Lestari Buana Giri.Kata kunci: sampah plastik, mesin pencacahBali is Indonesian tourism gateway and become world attention on how to manage waste.Reduce, Reuse and Recycle abbreviated 3R is a major principle of managing the waste fromthe source. Production of waste in the landfillLinggasana Karangasem per day is 120 m3 / day or approximately 18.26 tons / day, reaching22.6% of plastic waste, which can be recycled approximately 17%. So, the plastic waste thatcan be recycled is 3.1 tons / day, this is a highly potential business potential. The society is notinterest in sorting organic and inorganic waste because it does not add value to the community.Training and introduction of plastic waste thrasher is conducted so that people interested insorting out the rubbish. Abstract

Salah satu energi alternatif pengganti bahan bakar fosil yang berkembang di masyarakat Indonesia adalah Bahan Bakar Gas (BBG) diantaranya Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG). Akan tetapi konversi BBM ke BBG di Indonesia saat ini belum terlihat secara nyata kemajuan perkembangannya. Kendala selain tingginya harga satu paket konverter kit di pasaran adalah performa yang di hasilkan oleh LPG masih relatif kecil dari Pertamax. Oleh karena itu penulis mencoba membuatkan Konverter Kit baru dengan harga yang lebih terjangkau dan performa yang di hasilkan lebih baik dari Pertamax. Untuk mengetahui performa mesin dari pemakaian Konverter Kit LPG buatan ini maka perlu dilakukan pengujian terhadap daya dan konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik dari penggunaan LPG dan dibandingkan dengan Pertamax. Masing-masing pengujian dilakukan dengan perpindahan persneling dan putaran mesin yang sama antara 2000 hingga 6000 rpm. Dari hasil pengujian penggunaan bahan bakar LPG menghasilkan Daya sebesar 32,87 Hp sedangkan Pertamax sebesar 24,61 Hp dan Konsumsi Bahan Bakar yang lebih baik dibandingkan bahan bakar Pertamax dimana SFC LPG sebesar 17,79 gr/Hp.dt dan Pertamax sebesar 12,11 gr/Hp.dt. LPG dari Konverter Kit buatan ini lebih hemat bahan bakar, dan menghasilkan daya yang lebih besar dibandingkan Pertamax, sehingga menghasilkan SFC yang lebih baik dibandingkan Pertamax. One of alternative energy substitute for fossil fuels that is developing in Indonesian society is Gas Fuel (BBG) including Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG). However, the conversion of BBM to BBG in Indonesia is not yet visible in the progress of its development. The obstacle besides the high price of one converter kit package on the market is the performance produced by LPG is still relatively small than Pertamax. Therefore, the author tries to make a new converter kit with a more affordable price and better performance than Pertamax. To find out the engine performance of the use of this artificial LPG Converter Kit it is necessary to test the specific power and fuel consumption of LPG usage and compare with Pertamax. Each test is carried out with the same gear shift and engine speed between 2000 and 6000 rpm. From the results of testing the use of LPG fuels produce power about 32,87 Hp and Pertamax produce power about 24,61 Hp and fuel consumption more good compared to Pertamax fuels, which is 17,79 gr/Hp.s for LPG and 12,11 gr/Hp.s for Pertamax. The LPG from this artificial converter kit is more fuel efficient, and produces more power than Pertamax, so it produces a better SFC than Pertamax.

Abstract

Karakteristik lapisan NiCr pada baja karbon sedang dengan proses pelapisan powder flame spray coating dengan variasi jarak nosel penyemprotan terhadap permukaan material yang dilapisi (20 mm, 30 mm dan 40 mm) diinvestigasi. Hasil lapisan menunjukkan pada jarak penyemprotan 20 mm dan 30 mm terlihat hasil lapisan merata dan tidak terdapat celah antara material pelapis dan material induk. Sedangkan untuk hasil pelapisan pada jarak penyemprotan 40 mm memperlihatkan munculnya porosity, partikel pelapis yang tidak cair dan terdapat oksidasi/jarak antara material pelapis dan material induk.
