Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan agar dapat diperoleh analisa tentang pengaruh perubahan konsentrasi glukosa dan kuat medan listrik dalam madu lokal terhadap perubahan sudut putar polarisasi cahaya. Pengukuran perubahan sudut putar polarisasi cahaya dilakukan dengan cara memancarkan cahaya terpolarisasi melewati sampel yang berupa madu murni dan madu yang diberi tambahan glukosa. Sampel selanjutnya diberi pengaruh medan listrik luar (0 kV/m atau tanpa medan – 25 kV/m) yang dihasilkan dari kapasitor plat sejajar. Setelah diberi pengaruh medan listrik luar dilakukan pengamatan perubahan sudut putar polarisasi cahaya pada madu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin besar kuat medan listrik yang mengenai madu dengan tambahan glukosa akan menghasilkan perubahan sudut putar polarisasi yang semakin besar. Selain itu, besarnya konsentrasi glukosa di dalam madu juga mempengaruhi besarnya perubahan sudut putar polarisasi cahaya. Perubahan sudut putar polarisasi cahaya akan meningkat  secara linier akibat pengaruh medan listrik luar dan konsentrasi glukosa dalam madu murni.   Kata kunci : Polarisasi Cahaya, Glukosa, Madu, Medan listrik

Abstract

Perkembangan konsumsi pangan, khususnya mie instan, menunjukkan adanya laju pertumbuhan yang signifikan. Namun, banyak permasalahan yang timbul akibat konsumsi mie instan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan jenis dan jumlah radikal bebas yang terdapat pada mie instan dan mengetahui pengaruh sawi hijau (Brassica juncea) terhadap jumlah radikal bebas pada mie instan. Metode yang dilakukan meliputi persiapan sampel, pengukuran sampel, dan analisis data. Sampel mie instan yang digunakan adalah mie instan tanpa bumbu dan dengan penambahan bumbu. Variasi persentase larutan antioksidan alami yang digunakan adalah 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, dan 100%. Hasil yang didapatkan pada pengujian mie instan tanpa bumbu ditemukan tiga jenis radikal bebas, yaitu , , dan . Radikal bebas yang ditemukan pada mie instan dengan penambahan bumbu adalah  dan . Jumlah radikal bebas pada mie instan dapat diturunkan dengan pemberian sawi hijau (Brassica juncea). Sawi hijau (Brassica juncea) dapat menurunkan jumlah radikal bebas karena mengandung senyawa aktif vitamin C, dan beta-karotenoid. Jumlah radikal bebas jenis  dapat diturunkan oleh sawi hijau (Brassica juncea) sebesar 85,42%. Penambahan larutan sawi hijau (Brassica juncea) dapat menurunkan jumlah radikal bebas jenis  dengan persentase 88,74%.

Abstract

Radiotherapy is a treatment for cancer which use external radiation sources with the aim to damage the DNA in the nucleus of the cancer chromosomes and cause necrosis of cancer cells. The exposure of radiation to the spinal cord as the site of blood cell formation would change the hematopoietic circulation system. The effect of gamma radiation exposure on decreasing of hematopoietic cells quantity is still unknown and it needs further experiment to determine the effect the radiation and the effect of P. niruri  extract giving on the reduction of immune cells quantity which are CD34+ and B220+ cells in the bone marrow. In this experiment, five variations of the dose radiation was used. The dose were 100 rad, 200 rad, 300 rad, 400 rad and 500 rad and use single dose of P. niruri as much 250 mg/kg BB. The dose of 100 rad radiation was given daily and P. niruri extract was given for 14 days before and during radiation. The amount of the CD34+ and B220+ cells is counted and analyzed by Flow cytometry. The result of this experiment showed that the giving of gamma ray irradiation reduced the amount of immune cells in the bone marrow. The increasing radiation dose was caused increasing of the reduction of cells immune quantity. The giving of P.niruri extract inhibits hematopoietic cell through increasing of the absolut amount of CD34+ cell in the bone marrow.

Abstract

Cigarette smoke is a source of free radicals. Cigarette smoke is a component of Aerosols and free gases that contain large amounts of chemical compounds. Cigarette smoke can be divided into two: main smoke and side smoke. The main smoke of cigarettes inhaled by smokers is known to cause a buildup of harmful substances and causes of oxidative stress so that research is carried out using ESR Leybold Heraeus. The sample used is a smoke sample from two types of cigarettes that are popular in Indonesia. The measurement is done by pulling smoke directly into the measurement tube. Then the resonance pattern is observed and the external magnetic field is calculated and the value of the lande factor is based on frequency and current data. Measurements result showed resonance in both types of cigarettes, at a frequency of 32.4-70.8 MHz and obtained values of lande factors that vary and have a value between 1.9-2.1 with two acquisition values that are outside the range that is 1.8368; and 2.2060. There are differences in the number of resonances that occur for each sample. This difference can be due to differences in the constituent of content and the texture of cigarettes which can affect the results of the combustion process.
