Abstract

The study aimed to determine the correlation of body weight and body length with the size of Balinese pig testes that semi-traditionally maintained. This research was conducted in Banjar Losan, Takmung Village, Klungkung District, Klungkung Regency for 4 months. Nutritional analysis of Balinese pig feed was carried out in the Laboratory of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Udayana University, Denpasar. Research used 4 male pigs (not castrated) aged (3 months) with initial weight: pig I (5 kg), pig II (5kg), pig III (3.5 kg), and pig IV (3.5 kg). The study was conducted by analyzing the correlation coefficient, ie each pig measured body weight (X1), body length (X2), testicular length (Y1), and testicular width (Y2). The observed variables included body weight, body length, testicular length, and width testes. The results showed that there was a strong and statistically significant relationship between the correlation of body weight and body length with testicular size in male Balinese pigs. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that body weight and body length are positively and significantly correlated to the size of Balinese pig testes that are maintained in traditional cultures. Abstract

The aims of this research was toknow the effect of thawing length on the quality of boar semen at Technical Service Unit (TSU) of Artificial Insemination Centre (AIC), Bali Province.The research was conducted for two months (April– May, 2018)in two different placeswereTSUof AIC Baturiti District,Tabanan and TSU ofAIC Buruan District,Gianyar-Bali.The material used were two landrace(2 years old) at TSU of AICBaturiti and the other two landrace (2 years old) at TSU of AIC Buruan. The researchused design Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatmentswere the first treatment (T1) was 3 minutesthawing length, the second treatment (T2)was5 minutes thawing length and the third treatmentwas 7 minutes thawing length,and each treatment consisted of 5 replications. Variables observed were volume, color, odor, consistency, pH, motility, concentration and viability.Results of the researchshowed that the T1, T2, and T3 were no change on volume, color, smell, and consistency.Whereas pH, motility, concentration and viability were significantdifference (P<0.05) within the treatmentT1, T2 and T3.It could be concluded that 5 minutes thawing length at TSU of AIC Baturiti was the best, while at TSU of AIC Buruan it was 3 minutes. Abstract

Baturiti Artificial Insemination Center is one of the centers that produce boar sperm which is very beneficial for the wider community. This business has a very good opportunity, many local people buy boar sperm that is used for Artificial Isememination (B). However, during the course of this business the Baturiti Artificial Insemination Center has not yet made an income analysis calculation. So there is no known profit calculation obtained every month. Then an analysis of business income is needed so that it can be seen as feasible or not feasible to run this boar sperm business. Business feasibility analysis is carried out by analyzing non-financial aspects and financial aspects. Non-financial aspects consist of market aspects and environmental aspects. While the analysis of financial aspects carried out includes calculation of profit and RC ratio. The results of the feasibility analysis of the boar sperm business resulted in the loss of losses from the Baturiti Artificial Insemination Center with a loss of Rp -3,809,700 and RC ratio of 0.623, due to expensive feed prices and selling prices very cheap semen, so it needs to be suggested to increase the selling price of boar sperm.Keywords: pork, boar sperm, technical implementation, feasibility analysis

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui parameter kualitas semen babi di Unit Pelaksana Teknis (UPT) Balai Inseminasi Buatan Provinsi Bali. Data yang dikumpulkan dalam pembelajaran magang ini terdiri atas data primer dan data sekunder. Data primer diperoleh dengan teknik survei, wawancara dan observasi secara langsung, sedangkan data sekunder diperoleh melalui catatan hasil penampungan semen cair babi selama bulan Oktober 2018 di UPT Balai Inseminasi Buatan Daerah Provinsi Bali. Variabel yang diamati ini meliputi volume spermatozoa, motilitas, dan jumlah produksi semen babi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata persentase motilitas spermatozoa babi produksi UPT Balai Inseminasi Buatan Daerah Provinsi Bali pada bulan Oktober 2018 yang terdiri atas volume semen yaitu 207 ml, persentase motilitas individu yaitu 65%, dan jumlah produksi semen cair babi selama sebulan pada bulan oktober yaitu 60 dosis/pejantan. Simpulan dari ini bahwa secara umum persentase semen segar babi di UPT BIBD Provinsi Bali meliputi volume semen, persentase motilitas individu, dan jumlah produksi semen cair sesuai dengan target dan semen cair layak untuk didistribusikan. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendalami tentang strategi pemulihan usaha peternakan sapi bali pada wilayah terdampak erupsi Gunung Agung di Kabupaten Karangasem dan menghasilkan rekomendasi strategi yang tepat untuk diterapkan pada usaha peternakan sapi bali pada wilayah tersebut yang diharapkan mampu memulihkan usaha peternakan masyarakat. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lima kecamatan yang menjadi wilayah terdampak erupsi Gunung Agung di Kabupaten Karangasem yaitu Kecamatan Rendang, Selat, Kubu, Bebandem dan Abang, yang dilaksanakan dari bulan Februari sampai dengan April 2019 menggunakan metode survai. Lokasi penelitian ditentukan dengan metode purposive sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan 85 responden yang terdiri dari 75 orang peternak, 5 orang pendamping SIMANTRI, dan 5 orang ahli. Hasil analisis IFE-EFE menunjukkan bahwa nilai faktor internal sebesar 2.54 dan nilai faktor eksternal sebesar 2,34 menunjukkan posisi usaha peternakan sapi bali pada wilayah terdampak erupsi Gunung Agung berada pada kuadran V di dalam matriks IE yaitu devisi pertahanan dan pelihara. Terdapat sembilan alternatif strategi yang dihasilkan yaitu 1) menyediakan sarana informasi nonverbal berupa flayer atau spanduk mengenai informasi penampungan ternak; 2) mengadakan sosialisasi kepada peternak mengenai cara penanganan ternak saat terjadi erupsi; 3) membentuk kelompok peternak dalam lingkup kecil di setiap desa; 4) menyediakan lokasi/tempat untuk mengadakan bursa ternak; 5) melakukan pelatihan pembuatan pakan cadangan; 6) melakukan pelatihan pengolahan limbah peternakan; 7) memberikan pemodalan untuk pengembangan usaha peternakan melalui kegiatan bussines plan competition yang diselenggarakan oleh pemerintah ; 8) pemerintah menyediakan transportasi untuk mengangkut hewan-hewan ternak yang berada di wilayah terdampak erupsi; 9) mengedukasi peternak untuk menerapkan teknologi tepat guna pada usaha peternakan. Abstract

This study aims to determine the parameters the process of boar’s sperm in the Bali Provinci Artificial Insemination Center. Data collected obtained by survey techniques, interviews and direct observation. As wfell as data retrieval based on records of the results of boar’s sperm shelter during the month of October 2018 in the Artificial Insemination Center Baturiti. The variables observed in Student Work Practices include: processing boar’s spermin the Artificial Insemination CenterBaturiti, Tabanan. Based on the results of Student Internship, it can be concluded that in general the processing of semen at the Bali Provinci Artificial Insemination Centerincludes the process ofsemen storage, semen dilution process, cement storage and the amount of liquid cement production in accordance with the target. Abstract

Frozen semen quality test before distribution was very important. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of the length thawing time of bali cattle’s frozen semen produced by UPT BIBD Baturiti at quality test before distribution. This study was carried out at UPT BIBD Baturiti Laboratory, Baturiti village, Baturiti district, Tabanan Regencyfor four weeks. It was designed using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 repetitions hence there was 12 experimental units. Those treatments were 4 thawing times, which were 15 second (A), 30 second (B), 45 second (C) and 60 second (D). Variable observered were sperm motility, sperm concentration, life sperm percentage and sperm abnormality. The result showed that the length thawing time gave very significant effect (P<0,01) to sperm motility and significant effect (P<0,05) to life sperm percentage. On the contrary to sperm concentration and sperm abnormality. Therefore it can be concluded that the best quality of frozen semen of bali catlle that was thawed for 30 seconds in 37ºC temperature. Meanwhilethawing for 45 seconds was abled to maintain the quality fozen semen bali catlle. Keywords: thawing, test quality, frozen semen, bali cattle’s.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the influence of giving katuk leaf (Sauropus androgynous L. Merr) water extract towards colour, protein levels, fat levels, and the cholesterol of Lohmann Brown chicken egg yolks in the age of 22-30 weeks. This research has been implemented at the poultry farm in Dajan Peken Village, Tabanan sub-district, Tabanan regency through three months. The design of experiment that applied in this research is Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments and six replications. Those 36 laying chicken of Lohmann Brown with homogeneous weight were raised in 18 squares of colony battery cages. The treatment consisted of drinking water without additional of katuk leaf water extract (K0) as the control, drinking water with addition of 3% katuk leaf water extract (K1), and drinking water with addition of 6% katuk leaf water extract (K2). The colour, protein levels, fat levels, and the cholesterol of egg yolks were the variables that observed in this research. The result showed that the colour of egg yolks and protein levels towards the (K1) and (K2) treatment gave significant effect (P<0,05) higher than K0. However, the fat levels and the cholesterol of egg yolks towards the (K1) and (K2) treatment gave significant effect (P<0,05) lower than the chicken which was not given the addition of katuk leaf (Sauropus androgynous L. Merr) water extract (K0) as the control. From the result, it can be concluded that the giving katuk leaf (Sauropus androgynous L. Merr) water extract with addition of 3% and 6% level through drinking water could increase the colour and the protein levels of chicken egg yolks and also the reduction of fat levels and cholesterol of chicken egg yolks of Lohmann Brown in the age of 22-30 weeks were occurred.
