Abstract

Background: Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is an index that iswidely used these days. RNL has been widely studied as a predictor of poor survival and outcome in patients with liver cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, coronary heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, sepsis and malignancy. Objective: To determine whether there is a correlation between NLR with a score of Child turcotte pugh (CTP) in patients with liver cirrhosis in Dr. Sardjitogeneral Hospital. Methods :The study design was cross-sectional study. The study began in December 2014 until the number of samples are met. The subjects of this study were patients with liver cirrhosis at affordable populations undergoing inpatient and outpatient care in the Dr. Sardjito Hospital that meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Venous blood test to measure neutrophils, lymphocytes, albumin, total bilirubin, INR (Internationale normalized ratio). Data presented in the form of descriptive analysis of the characteristics of the study subjects such as the mean and standard deviation values of lymphocyte and neutrophil ratio scores CTP. For analyze the correlation between NLR with CTP scores Spearman nonparametric analysis p <0.05.Results : There are 33 subjects in the study. Based on the results of this study found a positive significant correlation between the ratio of neutrophils to lymphocytes CTP with r = 0.749 andp= <0.0001 and obtained the formula Y = 7.797 + 0,067x. Thus increasing of neutrophils to lymphocytes ratio positive correlated with the severity of liver cirrhosis.Conclusion. There are positive correlation between the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio with CTP scores in patients with liver cirrhosis.

Abstract

Social service activities are held with free health checks such as blood sugar, cholesterol and uric acid. Social service is carried out to assist with initial screening to prevent non-communicable diseases which are the leading cause of death in Indonesia. Activities were carried out in the villages of Banteng, Ngaglik, Sleman, Yogyakarta and residents of the GKJ Dayu congregation. The method of service is to carry out an assessment of the target area and coordinate with GKJ Dayu, the Head of Banteng Village and the formation of a Service Team from the Faculty of Medicine, Duta Wacana Christian University. Evaluation of social service activities is carried out qualitatively by means of discussion and quantitatively by looking at data on participants who registered whether they were successful through screening or not successful through screening. This social service activity was attended by 70 participants who took part in general examinations and were further divided into 5 people undergoing IVA examinations, 5 people undergoing health consultations and 54 people undergoing simple laboratory examinations. From the results of this social service it can be concluded that this activity succeeded in making a real contribution to social service participants who needed free examinations and was able to empower the community by increasing knowledge about non-communicable disease health.

Abstract

Background: Dengue fever, a mosquito borne viral infection, remains a major public health concern in Indonesia, with the challenges in early identification of severe cases. The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has emerged as a potentialbiomarker for assessing the disease severity. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the association between NLR and dengue severity in patients treated at Bethesda Hospital, Yogyakarta. Methods: A cross-sectional, quantitative study was conducted using medical record data from dengue patients admitted between 2022 to 2024. The NLR values were calculated from complete blood count results and disease severity was classified according to WHO guidelines. Statistical analysis was performed using the chi-square test and Fisher’s exact test. Results: Among the 68 patient samples, a significant association was found between NLR and dengue severity (p<0.001). Patients with lower NLR values were more likely to develop dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) compared to those with higher NLR values. Conclusion: The NLR plays a role in determining the severity of dengue infection and may serve as a predictive biomarker. This examination can be a practical tool in the clinical management of dengue fever patients, particularly for early detectionand optimizing therapeutic decision-making.
