Abstract

Silalahi II Village is located at the end of Silahisabungan Sub-district which borders with Toba Samosir Regency. As the main road access to other villages is blocked because of landslide and erosion in many places, the village becomes isolated and underdeveloped. The only possible access to the village is through water by using boats or canoes. Difficult access to the village increases burden that have to be borne by local people; thus, they cannot rise from prolonged poverty to the present. To develop this village, assistance from higher institutions which collaborate synergistically in one series of PPM activities would be required. Based on the priority of the problem, the implementation team of PPM would focus on opening and improving 11 km road access that was blocked for a long time in the village. The work was performed using excavator and bulldozer. In addition, a training which aimed to increase income of the farmers in the village was also conducted by the PPM team. High quality of red onion seeds which was expected to be one of the village’s mainstay products were introduced to the farmers in the training. The village would also be promoted as an alternative tourism village because of its potential of natural beauty. Finally, this village is expected to be established as an assisted village partnered with University of Sumatera Utara (USU) to be the icon and the major driver of the village’s development, and one of the science-techno and tourism park models.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to study the effectivity of Metarhizium anisopliae Metch. and Beauveria bassiana Bals. against oriental leafworm moth (Spodoptera litura F.) in soybean (Glicyne max L.) was conducted at the screen house Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatra Utara, from November 2013 until April 2014, using randomized block design non factorial with 7 treatments control, M. anisopliae 104/ml, 106/ml and 108/ml, B. bassiana 104/ml, 106/ml and 108/ml with three replications. The results showed that the highest percentage of mortality in treatment for M. anisopliae 108/ml with 100%. The highest percentage of larvae become pupae in control with 100%. The highest percentage intensity of larvae on leaves B. bassiana 104/ml and for B. bassiana with 19.67%. The quickest death time was on the second day after application in treatment M. anisopliae.Keywords: Spodoptera litura, Metarhizium anisopliae, Beauveria bassiana, Glicyne max

Abstract

Use suspense of Baculovirus to Oryctes rhinoceros L. (Coleoptera; Scarabaeidae) in the Laboratory.The objective of this research was to know the suitable suspense of baculovirus to larvae in thelaboratory. This research was conducted in the laboratory of pest, Faculty of Agriculture, Universityof North Sumatra, Medan. Research using completely randomized design (CRD) non factorial with5 treatments and 5 replications. The results showed that the highest percentage of larval mortality(P4) (suspense of Baculovirus, 40/1 liter of water) by 48.00 % and the lowest on P0 (control) andP1 (suspense Baculovirus-infected larvae of O. rhinoceros larvae 5/1 liter of water) of 0.00 % and4.00 %. Abstract

The objective of the research was to test of various types of active ingredient to White Root Disease(WRD) (Rigidoporus microporus (Swartz: Fr)) Without Tillage Area (WTA). This research wasconducted in the experimental garden of Sungei Putih, Deli Serdang with a height of ± 80 m aslfrom March 2014 until June 2014. The method used was Randomized Blok Design non factorial in3 replications. The factor was used active ingredients the pathogens aktif (triadimefon,Trichoderma sp, endophytic bacteria, bangun-bangun leaf extract, liquid smoke and water.Parameters observed were attack intensity, stem diameter and plant height. The results showed thatdifferent types of active ingredients very significant effect on the attack intensity and plant heightbut significant effect in stem diameter. The best result to suppress the intensity of theA (triadimefon) of 0% and C (endophytic bacteria) of 1.67%. The best result to increase in thediameter and plant height on B (Trichoderma sp) of 57.05% and 72.14%.Key words: active ingredients, Rigidoporus microporus, rubber, without tillage area

Abstract

The objective of the research was study of  the effectivity test  of  fungi entomopathogen    Beauveria  bassiana  and  Metarhizium anisopliae on different conydia densities to infect the rodentadult green stink bug  (Nezara viridula L.) This research was conducted at the screen house Facultyof Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, from Desember 2013 until Mei 2014. This researchusing Randomized Block Design non factorial with 7 treatments (control, suspension  M. anisopliaewith conydia density 107/70 ml water, suspension M. anisopliae with conydia density 10/70 mlwater, suspension M. anisopliae with conydia density 109/70ml water, suspension  B. bassiana withconydia density 107/70 ml water, suspension B. bassiana with conydia density 10/70 ml water,suspension B. bassiana  with conydia density 109/70 ml water) with three replications. The results showed that fungi entomopathogen B. bassiana and M. anisopliae affected significantly topercentage of mortality, percentage of natalitas, and soy production. The best result for thepercentage of mortality was N3 (suspension  M. anisopliae with conydia density 10/70 ml water)with 94.44%, The highest percentage of  natalitas was  Nwith 96.40%, The highest soy productionwas N3 (suspension  M. anisopliae with conydia density 100 9/70 ml water) with 20.77 gr/polibeg/6crop.Key words:  Glicyne  max L.,  Nezara viridula L.,  Metarhizium anisopliae, Beauveria bassiana 898

Abstract

The objectives of the research was to know the preferences of stink bug (N. viridula) on soybean plant and long bean in screenhouse. This research was conducted in the screenhouse Faculty of Agriculture University of Sumatera Utara from April until July 2014. This method used Block Randomized Design (BRD) nonfactorial with two treatments soybean and long bean, respectively with nine replications. The results showed that N. viridula prefer soybean than long bean. The highest number of adults N. viridula (10.17 head) on K1. The highest index attack percentage (83.95%), most attack symptoms, and the highest number of eggs N. viridula (31.56 grain) on soybean while the highest number of nymphs (9.67 head) on long bean.Key words: preferences, Nezara viridula, soybean, long bean.

Abstract

Tropic interaction of insect on soil surface and above soil surface on tamarillo (Solanum betaceum Cav.) in the field. The aim of the research were to knew interaction of insect on soil surface and above soil surface on tamarillo in the field and determined kinds of natural enemies and important pests. The research was conducted at Marubun Village Purba Subdistrict Simalungun Regency and Pest Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture University of Sumatera Utara Medan from November 2014 to January 2015. The traps used. were yellow trap and pitfal trap. The result showed that there were 1.544 insects caught in yellow trap (10 ordos and 35 families) and 187 insects caught in pitfall trap 8 ordos and 18 families. The highest relative density of insects in yellow trap was 57.44% and the lowest valve was 0.13%. Where as, the highest relative density of pitfall trap was 39.57% and the lowest valve was 0.53%. Biodiversity a index of Shanon-Weiner (H’) of yellow trap was 1.76 (medium) and the valve of biodiversity index of pitfall trap was 1.85 (medium).Keywords : interaction, pest, Solanum betaceum, trap

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis, kerapatan dan frekuensi kehadiran serta indeks keanekaragaman serangga di lahan pertanaman Coffea arabica L. yang terkena erupsi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di  3 desa (Desa Lingga, Desa Ndokumsiroga, Desa Perteguhan), Kecamatan Simpang Empat, Kabupaten Karo dan 1 desa (Desa Lae Parira), Kecamatan Lae Parira, Kabupaten Dairi dan Laboratorium Hama Tumbuhan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan pada bulan Agustus sampai Oktober 2015. Penelitian ini menggunakan 4 teknik perangkap serangga (sweep net, pitfall trap, yellow sticky trap dan handpicking), dan diulang sebanyak 4 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan serangga yang tertangkap pada lahan terkena erupsi terdiri dari 11 ordo dan 34 famili. Famili dengan nilai kerapatan mutlak  tertinggi sebesar 1762, terendah sebesar 2, nilai kerapatan relatif tertinggi sebesar 43.93%, terendah sebesar 0,05%, niai frekuensi mutlak tertinggi sebesar 4, terendah sebesar 2, nilai frekuensi relatif tertinggi sebesar 3,54% yang terendah sebesar 1,77% dan  indeks keanekaragaman Shanon-Weiner (H’) 1,98 (sedang). Sedangkan pada lahan tidak terkena erupsi terdapat 11 ordo dan 40 famili. Famili pada lahan tidak terkena erupsi mempunyai nilai kerapatan mutlak  tertinggi sebesar 1056, yang terendah sebesar 5. Nilai kerapatan relatif tertinggi sebesar 34,30%, terendah sebesar 0,16%, nilai frekuensi mutlak tertinggi sebesar 4, terendah sebesar 2, nilai frekuensi relatif tertinggi sebesar 2,82%, terendah sebesar 1,41%, dan nilai indeks keanekaragaman serangga sebesar 2,33 (sedang).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui indeks keanekaragaman jenis serangga pada tanaman kedelai pada fase vegetatif dan generatif di lapangan dan untuk mengetahui jenis serangga hama  dan serangga musuh alami  pada tanaman kedelai. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Balai Benih Induk Tanjung Selamat Kabupaten Deli Serdang dan di Laboratorium Hama Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan dengan menggunakan metode survei dengan teknik pengambilan purposive sampling. Penelitian ini berlangsung dari Bulan Septembersampai dengan Nopember 2015. Perangkap serangga yang digunakan adalahyellow trap dan pitfall trap.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan serangga yang tertangkap pada fase vegetatif sebanyak 1197 ekor yang terdiri atas 11 ordo dan 27 famili. dan pada fase generatif sebanyak 9984 ekor yang terdiri atas 11 ordo dan 37 famili. Nilai kerapatan relatif tertinggi pada fase vegetatif sebesar 66%, yang terendah sebesar 0,08% dan  indeks keanekaragaman Shanon-Weiner (H’) 1,53 (sedang) sedangkan pada fase generatif nilai kerapatan relatif tertinggi sebesar 77,91%, yang terendah sebesar 0,85% dan nilai indeks keanekaragaman serangga sebesar 3,78 (stabil).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level attacks of Cremastopsyche pendula of the age of oil palm trees on plantations and immature and crop yield. This research was conducted in the area of oil palm plantation in PTPP. London Sumatra Indonesia Rambong Sialang Estate in the village of Sialang Rambong Rampah Sei Serdang Bedagai using systemic random sampling method (systematic random sampling). The study started from January to March 2016. The results showed that the pest occurs more frequently in young plants compared to older plants. The highest percentage of attacks was on the block sample TBM 13.09% and attack percentage was lowest for the sample blocks TM 3.3%.
