Abstract

Oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB) were utilized as the source of organic fertilizer, but become a medium of Oryctes rhinoceros proliferation in oil palm plantations. O. rhinoceros uses cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin in the OPEFB as energy sources for larvae growth and development. In the process of breaking and combining complex compounds into simple molecules, they are establishing symbiotic relationship with bacteria residing in the digestive tract of O. rhinoceros larvae. Isolation of the symbiotic bacteria of the O. rhinoceros larvae was carried out with the aim of identifying bacteria in the digestive tract of the third instar found in the OPEFB. This research was done by using a descriptive method. Exploration of symbiotic bacteria of O. rhinoceros larvae was conducted through two stages. The first step was attained by isolating, growing and multiplying the bacteria and conducting biochemical testing. The second phase was accomplished by molecular testing for bacterial identification. The results showed that bacterial isolates were found and and after molecularly sequenced based on 6S rDNA, the species were identified as Bacillus stratosphericus, B. siamensis, B. cereus, Haemophilus parainfluenzae, Achromobacter xylosoxidans, and Alcaligenes faecalis. The research also found several species of bacteria originating from the hindgut larvae O. rhinoceros.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi jenis makrofauna tanah yang ada pada tanaman kakao yang menghasilkan dan tanaman kakao yang belum menghasilkan. Metode Penelitian: Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kebun kakao rakyat, Kabupaten Langkat, dan dilanjutkan identifikasi serangga di Laboratorium Hama Tanaman, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan dari bulan April sampai Mei 2019. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deksriptif kuantitatif. Hasil Penelitian: terdapat beberapa ordo Hymenoptera, Orthoptera, Coleoptera, Oligochaeta, dan Araneae dengan jumlah makrofauna yang berbeda.

Abstract

Introduction: The research was aimed to obtain an appropriate dose of cow manure waste, calcium oxide lime, and interactions in increasing the growth and yield of cowpea. Material and Methods: The research was conducted in Secanggang Village, Secanggang Subdistrict, Langkat District in June until September 2017. The research was conducted using the Randomized Block Design Factorial, the first factor (cow manure waste) dose of L0= 0 ton ha-1; L1= 10 ton ha-1; L2= 20 ton ha-1. The second factor (calcium oxide lime) dose of K0= 0 ton ha-1; K1= 3 ton ha-1; K2= 6 ton ha-1; and K3= 9 ton ha-1. Data were analyzed using the F and followed by DMRT at level 5% using IBM SPSS Statistics v.20 software. Results: The cow manure waste dosages of 10 until 20 ton.ha-1 significantly increased the plant height at 4 Weeks After Planting (WAP) and yield.plot-1 of cowpea ranged from 2.14 to 2.50% and 13.00 to 15.98%, respectively and the dose of 20 ton.ha-1 significantly increased the yield.sample-1 of 17.44% compared to untreated. The application of calcium oxide lime at the dose of 9 ton.ha-1 significantly increased the plant height of cowpea at 4 WAP of 2.46%, and the dose of 6 until 9 ton.ha-1 significantly increased the yield.sample-1 and yield.plot-1. However the highest was found in the dosage 6 ton.ha-1 of 13.51% and 20.16% compared to untreated. The interaction of cow manure waste with calcium oxide lime were not significant effect on growth and yield of cowpea.

Abstract

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to determine the dosage of inorganic fertilizers, soaking time of the inoculation of the legume bacteria strains which were suitable for the growth and yield of peanut in tidal lowland. Materials and Methods: This research was conducted at tidal lowland in Sei Ular Village, Secanggang sub-District, Langkat District, North Sumatra from September to December 2019. The research used randomized block design in factorial. The first factor is the dose of inorganic fertilizers consisting of P0 = un-fertilizer (control), P1= urea 50 kg.ha-1 + TSP 180 kg.ha-1 + KCl 50 kg.ha-1, P2= urea 75 kg.ha-1 + TSP 205 kg.ha-1 + KCl 75 kg.ha-1, P3= urea 100 kg.ha-1 + TSP 230 kg.ha-1 + KCl 100 kg.ha-1. The second factor was the soaking time of the Bradyrhizobium japonicum bacterial strain consisting of T0= un-soaking time, T1= soaking time for 3 minutes, T2= soaking time for 6 minutes, and T3= soaking time for 9 minutes. Parameters were analyzed using ANOVA and BNJ analysis 5%.· Results: The application of urea 50 kg.ha-1 + TSP 180 kg.ha-1 + KCl 50 kg.ha-1 significantly increased the plant height, number of leaves, and root volume and showed the highest number of active nodules, dry pods.plot-1 and seed weight.plot-1 compared to other doses. The seed soaking time with the Bradyrhizobium japonicum strain and their interactions showed insignificant differences in all parameters of peanut plants in tidal lowland.

Abstract

• Pendahuluan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untukmengetahui respon pertumbuhan bibit kelapa sawit Pre Nursery terhadap aplikasi pupuk N, pupukkandang dan terhadap aplikasi antara pupuk N dan pupuk kandang •Metode Penelitian : Penelitian ini laksanakan di Kecamatan Selesai Kab.Langkat, Sumatra Utara pada bulan Maret 2022 sampai Juli 2022 .Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Faktorial. Terdiri dari dua faktor,yaitu: Faktor Pertama yang terdiri dari dua perlakuan yaitu, M1: Tanah Top soil,dan Pupuk Kandang(1:1), M2: Tanah Top Soil,dan Pasir(1:1).Faktor Kedua terdiri dari 3 faktor yaitu, F=0 KONTROL(Tanpa Perlakuan), F1= 1 gram/liter Air, F2= 1.5 gram/liter Air. Peubah yang diamati, Tinggi Tanaman, Diameter batang, Jumlah Daun, Luas Daun. • Hasil Penelitian:Perlakuan media tanam berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, jumlah daun, dan luas daun. Perlakuan pemberian pupuk nitrogen berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, jumlah daun, dan luas daun. Interaksi media tanam dan pemberian pupuk nitrogen berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, jumlah daun, dan luas daun. Secara umum, perlakuan interaksi M2N1 (Top Soil:Pasir dan 1,5 gram) menghasilkan nilai diameter batang, jumlah daun, dan luas daun paling besar.

Abstract

Introduction: This study aims to determine the effect of different planting media and phosphoric fertilizer application on the growth of oil palm seedlings (Elais guineensis, Jacg) in early nurseries. The short-term goal of this research is to know that phosphate fertilizer can affect the growth of oil palm seedlings. Materials and Methods: This research was carried out in Prestasi District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra from January to April 2022. The method used in this study was a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD). It consists of two factors, namely: The first factor which consists of two treatments namely, M1: Top Soil, and Manure (1: 1), M2: Top Soil, and Sand (1: 1). The Second Factor consists of 3 factors namely, F = 0 CONTROL (without treatment), F1 = 3 grams/liter of water, F2 = 5 grams/liter of water. Variables observed were Plant Height, Stem Diameter, Number of Leaves, Leaf Area. Results The treatment of phosphate fertilizer application had no significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, and leaf area. The interaction of growing media and application of phosphate fertilizer had no significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, and leaf area. In general, the M1F1 interaction treatment (Top Soil: Manure and 3 grams of Phosphate) produced the highest values ​​for plant height, number of leaves, and leaf area.

Abstract

Pupuk organik cair mengandung unsur hara baik makro maupun mikro yang dibutuhkan tanaman untuk proses pertumbuhan. Tanaman pisang merupakan tanaman budidaya yang banyak dimanfaatkan untuk peluang usaha tersendiri bagi masyarakat, sehingga mengakibatkan banyak limbah kulit pisang yang dihasilkan. Banyaknya limbah kulit pisang ini dapat menjadi salah satu solusi yang dapat dimanfaatkan masyarakat untuk pembuatan Pupuk Organik Cair (POC). Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi mengenai manfaat limbah kulit pisang sebagai pupuk organik cair kepada masyarakat (kelompok tani). Pelatihan pembuatan pupuk organik cair dilaksanakan di Kelurahan Tanah Seribu Kecamatan Binjai Selatan Kota Binjai dengan mitra Kelompok Tani Serba Guna. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan ini terdiri dari metode ceramah dan demonstrasi. Limbah kulit pisang yang sudah diolah menjadi pupuk organik cair bermanfaat bagi pertumbuhan dan perkembangan tanaman, memperbaiki sifat fisik tanah serta menambah unsur hara bagi tanaman budidaya. Abstract

Pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman sangat dipengaruhi oleh ketersediaan unsur hara baik itu unsur hara makro maupun mikro. Penggunaan pupuk organik cair dapat menjadi solusi dalam meminimalisir penggunaan pupuk kimia. Salah satu tanaman yang dapat dijadikan sebagai pupuk organik cair ialah kipahit. Kipahit merupakan jenis tumbuhan yang mengandung unsur hara makro yang cukup tinggi seperti N, P, K, Ca dan Mg yang dapat membantu pertumbuhan vegetative maupun genertaif tanaman budidaya. Penggunaan pupuk organik juga dapat mewujudkan pertanian berkelanjutan. Pelatihan pembuatan POC (Pupuk Organik Cair) dengan menggunakan tanaman kipahit dilaksanakan di Kelurahan Puji Utomo Kecamatan Binjai Utara Kota Binjai dengan mitra Kelompok Tani Purnama Sari. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan ini terdiri dari metode ceramah dan demonstrasi. Kipahit mempunyai potensi yang sangat besar sebagai suplemen pupuk organik untuk mendukung pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman dan mampu mengurangi pencemaran terhadap lingkungan. Abstract

Tanaman bayam hijau (Amaranthus sp.) merupakan sayuran yang bergizi tinggi dan digemari oleh semua lapisan masyarakat Indonesia . tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis kandungan vitamin C dan melihat bagaimana warna hijau daun akibat pemberian media tanam yang berbeda dan pemberian paranet. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Faktorial (RAKF) dengan 2 faktor, dimana faktor pertama yaitu media tanam dengan 2 taraf: M1 (Pupuk kandang kambing), M2(Pupuk kandang sapi). Sedangkan faktor kedua yaitu naungan: N0 (tanpa naungan/control), N1 (Naungan 60 %), N2 (Naungan 65 %), N3 (Naungan 70 %).

Abstract

AbstractOryctes rhinoceros L. has symbioses with micro organisms in their hind guts which further break down plant material consumed by beetle. The aim of this research is to determine the identification of the existence of the bacterial species in the hind gut larvae of the symbiotic bacteria using biochemical test and analysis based on 16S rRNA. The result of this research indicate that there were two different bacterials: Bacillus siamensis and Bacillus stratosphericus found. The bacteria was used for starting the composting and more specifically, the Bacillus siamensis can speed up composting with the end result at C/N 13.16.Keywords: Larvae O. rhinoceros L, Bacterial Symbionts, 16S rDNA, Composting
