Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship of the best quality oil palm at the different age of plants in peatlands. The method used in this research is the survey method using diagonal sampling 5% of the land area in order to obtain 27 plants of all plants ages (6, 7 and 9 years old). The data analyzed were fresh weight, dry weight, volume of fruit, thick mesocarp, water capacity, oil return and free fatty acid of oil palm. Data were analyzed using the t test and correlation at the 5% level. The results showed the age of the plant affects the weight of fresh fruit, fruit, dry weight and the volume of oil palm fruits, but did not affect the mesocarp thickness, the water capacity of fruit, oil content and free fatty acid of oil palm fruit. Based on the quality standards of oil palm fruits PTPN V (2007) in this study, plant with age 6, 7 and 9 years old have bad fruit, water capacity, good oil yield fruit and free fatty acid with medium quality of fruit. Keywords: age, oil palm, peatlands, quality

Abstract

The research was carry out at the experimental garden of Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau. The aim of this research to determine the effect grant of dolomite and N, P, K fertilizers interactions on sweet corn in peat land and get the best treatment. This research was carried out using a Randomized Design Group (RDG) with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor use of the dolomite and the second factor is N, P, K treatment. The data were proceed with analysis of variance and Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at 5% level. Parameters measured are plant height, stamen appears time, stigma appears time, harvest time, cob diameter, cob length without hust, cob weight without hust/sample. The result of research shown that giving of Dolomite and N, P, K fertilizers can increase growth and production on sweet corn applications of          4 ton/ha dolomite and N, P, K fertilizers (300 kg/ha Urea + 200 kg/ha SP-36        + 100 kg/ha KCl) give the best effect for cob weight without husk/sample productions on sweet corn in peat land.   Keywords : Sweet corn, peat land, dolomite, N, P, K fertilizer.

Abstract

The paddy production is decreasing due to land characteristics that are not suitable for its crop requirements. This study aims to identify the inhibiting factors of growth and production and evaluate land suitability based on the factors that inhibit growth and production of tidal paddy fields. The research method used is a soil survey. Soil sampling points were determined based on the overlay results of the current paddy field map and the map of land and soil units. The suitability assessment of paddy fields is carried out using a matching system in actual and potential conditions. The actual land suitability of all SLH is not current suitable (N1) with a very high Fe inhibiting factor. Limiting factors of Fe content can be overcome by making one-way drainage channels, adding organic matter, liming, fertilizing and or using tolerant varieties. The potential land suitability of all SLH is marginally suitable (S3).

Abstract

This study discusses the Effect of Coal and Potassium Fertilizers on the Flower and Production of Oil Palm Plants (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.). This study aimed to determine the interaction between coal fertilizer and potassium fertilizer, as well as the influence of each single factor, on the flower and production of oil palm plants, as well as the correlation between the observed variables. This study was conducted experimentally using a factorial Complete Random Design (RAL) with two aspects of treatment. The first aspect is the dosage of coal fertilizer with three levels: 0, 1, and 2 kg per plant per 6 months. The second aspect is the dosage of potassium fertilizer with 3 levels: 3, 4, and 5 kg per plant per 6 months. The results of the analysis showed that the combination of 1 kg of coal fertilizer and 5 kg of potassium fertilizer per plant was the best treatment. This treatment has been proven to accelerate the ripening time of fruit and significantly increase the production of oil palm plants.

Abstract

Post-harvest oil palm that does not comply with the Factory standart can cause losses in reducing the production of fresh fruit bunches. The objectives of this study are 1) To analyze he stages of harvest and the sources that result in the risk of harvesting oil palm FFB in each post-harvest chain that is traversed to the TPH at the Koperasi Petani Sawit Mandiri (KOPSA-M), Pangkalan Baru Village, Kampar Regency. 2) To analyze the amount of yield loss and the possible risk of harvesting oil palm FFB in each post-harvest chain That is traversed from the land to the TPH at the Koperasi Petani Sawit Mandiri (KOPSA-M) Pangkalan Baru Village, Siak Hulu District, Kampar Regency. The data analysis was descriptive quantitative research analysis. Sources of loss post-harvest of oil palm FFB at the Pangkalan Baru Village Independent Farmers Cooperative (KOPSA-M), Siak Hulu sub-district, Kampar district is the percentage of post-harvest loss of fresh fruit bunches (FFB). is equal to 5.21 percent of the total average FFB produced per plot (2 hectares). the losses are in the land, TPH, checking raw FFB and mill sorting. The percentage of losses in the land area is 1.73 percent of the total FFB yield. Meanwhile, the number of losses in the factory sorted amount was 2.70 percent and became the most significant loss for post-harvest FFB losses at KOPSA-M. The sources of post-harvest loss of FFB at KOPSA-M are harvest time, harvesting techniques. implemented by harvesters, cleanliness of plantation land, harvesting places (TPH), fruit and plant maintainers, and sunlight, human resources (HR) from oil palm harvesters,
