Abstract

AbstractBalinese traditional home is one of traditional architectures in Indonesia in which it still survives up to now. The home as a part of Balinese Traditional Architecture derives from Balinese Hindu belief and their custom which have a lot of Hindu philosophy. Base on this philosophy, the house which is created as a model of human being and a model divine of macro cosmos. The aim of this is to create harmony between micro cosmos (human being) and macro cosmos (nature). Physically, the usage of body measurements in the whole building dimensions has approved of how the implementation of a model of human being is created. Another thing is of how to abstractly create the building to have a soul through using basic dimension, mantra, and ritual for permission to the holy and devil spirit. Because of this, the building becomes a really unique thing. However, an interesting question reveals in relation to green building i.e. how does a Balinese traditional home create a comfortable internal environment without resorting energy usage? The presented paper has addressed it which is approached from the building layout to the building components. From those, the home appears that it has fully accounted to respond a warm-humid zone of the tropical climate. And a comfortable internal environment can be reached maximally through the use of open air concept or courtyard pattern in the building composition, most open and small buildings, the use of non bearing wall and also the critical point is the use of natural materials with low heat storage and large air cavity. Therefore, this means that the Balinese home has performed itself as a green building.

Abstract

Sempadan pantai (a waterfront setback which by law is reserved and in which development is restricted) of Yeh Gangga Beach at the Tabanan Regency-Bali has been increasingly well used. This area is supposedly protected and dedicated to public uses, as outlined by Local Government Regulation number 11, year 2012. Unfortunately, the government has not yet been effectively imposing this policy. There is a growing concern, if the uncontrolled used of sempadan pantai is perpetuated, it will affect the nature of this reserved area. This study aims to determine the impact of the construction of tourist facilities on the sempadan of Pantai Yeh Gangga. The analysis is grounded by conceptions offered by several literatures relevant to tourism development and environmental protection. This study uses a qualitative research method. Data is collected through observations, photographic documentation, and interviews with community leaders, government authorities, employers and tourists. The collected data is presented in the form of tables and narratives. Study results show that development of tourist facilities on Yeh Gangga's setback area has various negative impacts on the physical environment. This research strongly recommends local government to carry out a routine control over waterfront development. Alternatively, this can be done by empowering local communities and enforcing sanctions when violations over an enforced regulation take place. Local communities are strongly advised to preserve the natural state of their physical environment by not polluting it. Business owners should also participate in this move by conducting environmentally conscious business-practices and taking adequate premeditated protections of the environment in their hand at all chances. Abstract

Abstract-Deconstruction is a method, a thought as well as a theory created by Jacques Derrida, a philosopher and critic of French literature. Derrida himself was reluctant to determine exactly what deconstruction is. Derrida only mentions what is not, not what is yes. However, the thought that is currently on the decline is actually attracting the attention of architects so that his fame is revived. If you follow Derrida's way of thinking surely no one will be able to explain what deconstruction is, because once he explains that the deconstruction revealed is not deconstruction. To better recognize and understand the strategy of deconstruction in architecture, the way Bennedikt should be imitated, as a method of analyzing architectural works using the perspective of deconstruction. In this paper we will try to read an architectural work, using Bennedikt's method. The work that will be the object of reading is Puri Agung Karangasem. The main objective to be obtained through this paper is to find out whether the work can be classified into deconstruction architecture, to deepen the understanding of deconstruction itself and at the same time train sensitivity in thoroughly reviewing an architectural work through an observation angle.

Abstract

Batur lake is one of the lakes designated as world cultural heritage considering the importance and role of Batur lake and its environment culturally, economically and ecologically. Various activities from various sectors grow around Batur lake which could change the land use and have a negative impact on the panorama of the lake. Therefore, this study aims to determine the boundary of Batur lake viewed from the development of water level rise to describe the suitability of land use in the Batur lake border, as well as to develop strategies for land use mismatches that occur. Data were collected through primary and secondary surveys. Statistical-descriptive analysis techniques in the form of data processing digitization with geospatial information systems and land use evaluations were carried out based on land suitability analysis, followed by comparing existing land use with the direction of activities in related regulations. Results shows the direction of land suitability on Batur lake border, are the buffer area and the development of annual plants. The land cover ratio of each direction is still in accordance with the maximum limit. In addition, there are land uses that are not suitable, such as plantation agriculture and non-annual crops, as well as trade and services, in the form of tourism accommodation.
