Abstract

The study was aimed at redefining the learning of language and literature from the perspective of media use in the lesson planning and implementation and students’ responses towards language and literature learning. The subjects of the study were teachers and students of state junior high schools in a regency in Yogyakarta Province. The subjects were taken in three stages, first, with the cluster technique: the eastern, western, central, and northern zones, and second, with the school strata technique: as excellent, moderate, and low. The choice of strata technique was determined based on the results of the 2017 National Exam score ranking. Third, the selection of schools and classes was made randomly. Primary data were obtained from observation, interview, and document analysis; secondary data were obtained from a questionnaire. Results can be described as follows. First, media use designed in the lesson plan included conventional, new, and audio-visual media. Second, media use in the carrying out of the lesson was realized by the teachers in the forms of conventional visual and audio-visual media. Third, students gave fair responses to the use of instructional media in language and literature learning. In the low-coded schools, the use of media designed in the lesson plans was more varied than that of the moderate- and excellent-coded schools; the most preferred new visual media were PowerPoint. In moderate- and low-coded schools, instructional media were shown to have positive impacts on student activity in learning; namely, students were more active because learning was more fun. Contradictorily, instructional media did not have positive impacts in excellent-coded schools on student activity in learning; namely, students were less active because learning was considered unpleasant. As seen from the perspective of the transformational era, no teacher had used interactive digital media.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi pendidikan karakter pada pembelajaran bahasa di PG-TPA Alam Uswatun Khasanah Sleman, Yogyakarta. Penelitian menggunakan  desain studi kasus menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi  peran  serta, sedangkan fokus studi pada sekolah, yakni play group. Data yang diperoleh berupa catatan lapangan dan draf wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan implementasi pendidikan karakter pada pembelajaran bahasa pada anak usia 2-5 tahun dilaksanakan secara terintegrasi dan berjenjang sesuai usia anak. Pembelajaran bahasa secara terintegrasi, yaitu menyimak, berbicara, dan  membaca. Pendidikan karakter yang diinginkan adalah membangun kemandirian anak, peka terhadap lingkungan, cinta budaya, dan pembelajaran yang kontekstual. Pembelajaran ditekankan pada pembelajaran yang kontekstual. Anak diajak terlibat langsung dalam tema-tema pembelajaran. Pelibatan anak secara langsung menjadi cara untuk menanamkan pendidikan karakter. Pada diri anak ditunjukkan bagaimana mensyukuri nikmat Tuhan dengan mengenal alam sekitar, menghargai orang lain, menyayangi sesama, perhatian, berani, disiplin, patuh, tanggung jawab, dan sopan.   Kata Kunci: pendidikan karakter, pembelajaran bahasa THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CHARACTER EDUCATION IN LANGUAGE TEACHING AND LEARNING IN PG-TPA ALAM USWATUN KHASANAH SLEMAN YOGYAKARTA Abstract: This study aims to describe the implementation of character education in language teaching and learning in PG - TPA Natural Uswatun Khasanah Sleman, Yogyakarta. This study used a case study research design with a qualitative approach. The data were collected through observation of participation or involvement, while the school focus of this study was the play group. The data obtained included field notes and interview drafts. The results indicate the implementation of character education in language teaching and learning in the PG-TPA Uswatun Khasanah at age 2-5 years was carried out in an integrated and graded mode, based on children’s age. The integrated language teaching and learning included listening, speaking, and reading. The character education was intended to develop the child's autonomy, environmental sensitivity, cultural love and contextual learning. The PG-TPA Uswatun Khasanah teaching and learning emphasized contextual learning. Children were involved directly in the learning themes. Involving children directly became a means of implanting character education. Children were shown how to be grateful God’s mercy by learning about nature, respecting, loving, and caring for others, being brave, disciplined, obedient, responsible, and courteous. Abstract

This study aimed to describe the improvement of the quality of the report writing learning process and the improvement of students’ report writing skills through the contextual approach. This study was an action research study employing John Elliott’s model consisting of two cycles. The subjects were Year VIII E studentsof SMP Negeri 1 Juwana. The data were collected through tests, observations, field notes, and interviews and were analyzed by means of the qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The results showed that: (1) the learning of report writing was better than that conducted before; (2) students’ writing skills at the end of Cycle II (9.03) were better (mean = 9.03) than those before the action (mean = 7.71). Therefore, it was concluded that the application of CTL was capable of improving the quality of the report writing learning and the report writing skills of Year VIII Estudents of SMP Negeri 1 Juwana.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pembelajaran menulis faktual, menghasilkan buku referensi menulis faktual berbasis multiliterasi dan mendeskripsikan pendapat pakar terhadap produk tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian pengembangan. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi pustaka, studi lapangan, wawancara, dan angket. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Analisis kualitatif digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan data kualitatif seperti data wawancara dan analisis dokumen. Analisis kuantitatif digunakan untuk mengolah data angket. Prosedur pengembangan mengikuti langkah desain produk, tahap uji materi dan merevisi produk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran menulis faktual menggunakan sumber referensi di internet, Pedoman Umum Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia, Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia, dan Buku Sekolah Elektronik. Buku referensi menulis faktual berbasis multiliterasi disusun secara runtut dan detail untuk membantu pembaca memahami, menggunakan, dan mengaplikasikan dalam praktik menulis faktual. Buku referensi menulis faktual berbasis multiliterasi dalam kategori layak digunakan dengan revisi, yaitu perbaikan pada penerapan multiliterasi.DEVELOPING MULTILITERACIES BASED WRITING FACTUAL REFERENCE BOOKThis study was aimed at describing the factual writing of the students before using multiliteracies based factual reference book, generating multiliteracies based factual reference book, and describing the expert judgements of the reference book. This study used Research and Development (RD) method. The data were collected through literature studies, field studies, interviews, and questionnaires. The data analysis methods used were qualitative and quantitative analysis. The qualitative analysis was used to describe the data from the interview and the documentation. The quantitative analysis was used to analyze the questionnaire data. The stages of this study were product design, expert judgement, and revision. The result of the study shows that before the use of multiliteracies based reference book, the learning materials are limited to the reference sources on the internet, General Guidelines for Indonesian Spelling, Indonesian Dictionary, and Electronic School Textbooks. Multiliteracies based writing factual reference book is arranged in coherence and detail to help readers in understanding, using, and applying the factual writing texts. The expert judgements on the product show that the product is categorized into feasible with revision. Some improvements are needed in the multiliteracies application.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan untuk 1) meningkatkan kompetensi literasi menulis guru-guru SD Muhammadiyah di Sleman Barat melalui pengembangan literasi membaca kreatif, 2) mengeksplorasi strategi literasi yang dimiliki guru-guru SD Muhammadiyah di Sleman Barat, dan 3) memberikan pendampingan kepada guru-guru SD Muhammadiyah di Sleman Barat terkait strategi literasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan PkM, baik dilakukan secara daring maupun luring, dibagi menjadi tiga tahapan, yaitu workshop, praktik menulis, dan evaluasi. Peserta workshop adalah perwakilan guru dari 29 SD Muhammadiyah di Sleman Barat. Hasil kegiatan PkM workshop ini menunjukkan bahwa para guru mampu dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan mereka dalam literasi membaca kreatif yang diaplikasikan dalam berbagai genre teks. Secara umum, peserta memberikan penilaian baik dan sangat baik setelah mengikuti workshop, dengan indikator tertinggi pada kriteria interaksi antara tim panitia dengan peserta, yaitu sebesar 77,19%. Hambatan yang dihadapi saat kegiatan adalah alokasi waktu untuk presentasi hasil literasi dan evaluasi secara luring.

Abstract

Online learning has significantly transformed education, especially by providing greater flexibility for both students and teachers in learning processes. However, online classes tend to rely more on teacher-centered presentations, allowing them to isolate students from the learning process. The diverse characteristics of students are a challenge for teachers in building interaction and communication and facilitating effective collaboration. A literature review shows that interaction is important for student learning outcomes. Therefore, understanding and categorizing student characteristics is important in building a learning community so that it can improve teacher and student interaction, as outlined in cybergogy-based online learning models. Cybergogy is a new concept of cyber-based learning with three main domains: cognitive, emotional, and social, known as engaged learning. This approach emphasizes the importance of creating a holistic and engaging online learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of learners. The research findings indicate that online learning designed based on cybergogy principles effectively fosters student engagement and collaboration, thereby successfully mitigating key issues that often hinder the effectiveness of online education. By recognizing and addressing the cognitive, emotional, and social aspects of learning, cybergogy aims to foster a sense of community, encourage active participation, and promote deeper understanding.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan model penalaran penulisan artikelilmiah mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, FakultasBahasa dan Seni, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan desainpenelitian analisis konten dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Desain ini untukmembuat estimasi beberapa gejala dalam konteks data. Desain tersebut digunakan jikaanalisis konten merupakan satu-satunya teknik yang digunakan. Penelitian ini menemukanberbagai model penalaran penulisan artikel ilmiah mahasiswa Program Studi PBSI, FBS,UNY. Model penalaran penulisan artikel ilmiah dapat diklasifikasikan berdasarkan arahatau alur penalaran yakni penalaran deduktif dan penalaran induktif. Model penalarandeduktif bersifat dominan, artinya di setiap artikel ilmiah mahasiswa terdapat modelpenalaran tersebut, bahkan model tersebut beberapa kali muncul pada setiap artikel ilmiahmahasiswa. Model penalaran juga dapat diklasifikasikan berdasarkan urutan pengembanganparagraf. Temuan dalam penelitian ini antara lain model urutan waktu atau kronologis danmodel urutan kepentingan.Kata kunci: Model penalaran, artikel ilmiah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji eksistensi perdamaian diri tokoh utama dalam novel Janji Untuk Ayah karya Nurunala melalui pendekatan psikologi eksistensial Rollo May. Fokus penelitian ini terletak pada bentuk permasalahan batin, dinamika psikologi eksistensial, dan proses menuju perdamaian diri. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data primer berasal langsung dari novel berupa kutipan, kalimat, atau ungkapan yang terdapat dalam teks novel dengan 192 halaman, diterbitkan oleh Gramedia Widiasarana Indonesia tahun 2024. Sumber data sekunder berupa buku-buku referensi dan jurnal yang relevan dengan topik penelitian. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kegiatan membaca dan mencatat, sedangkan teknik analisis data meliputi tahap kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tokoh Elang merepresentasikan perjalanan eksistensial dalam menemukan makna hidup. Tokoh Elang mengalami keterasingan diri akibat rasa kehilangan dan penolakan terhadap diri maupun dengan lingkungannya, kekosongan sebagai bentuk keputusasaan terhadap nilai-nilai hidup, kecemasan eksistensi karena takut gagal, dilema, ragu dan kesepian eksistensi akibat perpisahan. Namun, tokoh Elang juga mendapatkan dorongan dalam bentuk cinta (agape) sebagai cinta persahabatan dan bentuk cinta (philia) sebagai cinta tanpa pamrih. Melalui keberanian menghadapi penderitaan dan rintangan hidup, tokoh Elang mulai memahami arti kebebasan, keberanian fisik dan emosional, tanggung jawab, serta penerimaan diri, hingga akhirnya mencapai perdamaian diri sebagai bentuk eksistensi. Temuan penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi teoretis dalam pengembangan kajian psikologi eksistensial, serta membuka peluang untuk memahami bagaimana lingkungan dan nilai-nilai sosial memengaruhi cara individu mengatasi permasalahan hidup. Selain itu, penelitian ini memberikan manfaat bagi pembaca untuk memahami proses pencarian makna hidup melalui refleksi diri.
