Abstract

This study examined the character education of Konco Reyog at schools viewed from the meaning of Reyog Ponorogo’s art symbol. Then, it has tried to reveal its relevance with Islamic education. The data were obtained from the key persons, i.e. warok figure, Reyog Foundation, Reyog teachers, and the supporting artists, which then were described qualitatively to arrange character education module of Konco Reyog based on Islamic education. The finding shows that Reyog’s symbol is loaded with value and meaning, including the educational values. These values have very strong relevance with several values contained in Islamic education. Further, these values are built systematically through school. Its position is quite strong as it is included in the curriculum of intra-curricular as a local content based on the local wisdom. These Reyog Ponorogo art values are possible to be alternative models for character education in order to build noble values and meanings based on Islamic education. Penelitian ini mengkaji pendidikan karakter Konco Reyog di sekolah-sekolah yang digali dari makna simbol seni Reyog Ponorogo. Selanjutnya muatan tersebut dikaji basis relevansinya dengan pendidikan Islam, yang selama ini belum tersentuh. Data yang diperoleh dari orang kunci (key person), yaitu tokoh warok, yayasan Reyog, para pengampu pembelajaran Reyog, dan para seniman pendamping, dideskripsikan secara analitis kualitatif untuk menyusun modul pendidikan karakter Konco Reyog berbasis pendidikan Islam. Temuan pokok penelitian ini adalah bahwa dalam seni Reyog Ponorogo memiliki sejumlah simbol yang sarat dengan nilai dan makna, diantaranya adalah nilai pendidikan. Nilai-nilai tersebut memiliki relevansi yang sangat kuat dengan sejumlah nilai yang terkandung di dalam pendidikan Islam. Pada perkembangannya, nilainilai pendidikan dalam seni Reyog Ponorogo ditanamkan secara sistematis melalui lembaga pendidikan sekolah. Posisinya cukup kuat karena masuk dalam kurikulum intrakurikuler sebagai muatan lokal berbasis kearifan lokal. Nilai-nilai pendidikan berbasis seni Reyog Ponorogo ini sangat dimungkinkan menjadi alternatif model pendidikan karakter dalam rangka menanamkan nilai dan makna hidup luhur berbasis pendidikan Islam.

Abstract

Widows in urban Muslim societies frequently confront significant economic and social vulnerabilities following spousal loss, facing challenges in securing sustainable livelihoods and providing for their families. This study examines the implementation of an Islamic values-based educational strategy within the HIJAB (Himpunan Janda Berkarya) program at PKBM Mutiara Bina Insani, Trenggalek, designed to foster holistic independence. The research aims to analyze the integration of Islamic principles in educational practices and assess its impact on participants' economic, social, and spiritual autonomy. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with widows and program facilitators, participatory observation, and document analysis. Findings reveal that the program successfully incorporates Islamic values—such as perseverance (sabr), trust in God (tawakkal), and community responsibility—into practical skill-building and emotional support systems. This integration has enabled widows to develop sustainable micro-enterprises, strengthen social support networks, and enhance their religious identity. The program demonstrates a viable model for faith-based community development, contributing to the socio-economic resilience of urban Muslim families. The study concludes that Islamic value-based educational strategies are effective in promoting comprehensive empowerment, suggesting their potential for replication in similar urban Muslim communities facing parallel challenges of widowhood and economic marginalization.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of situational leadership of school principals in improving teacher performance at PAUD Pesantren Anak Sholeh Darul Qur'an Kalianda, Lampung. The research approach used is qualitative descriptive, with data collection through observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing which are systematically compiled based on field findings. The results of the study show that the implementation of situational leadership by school principals has a strategic role in increasing the effectiveness of teacher performance and creating a conducive, collaborative, and productive work environment. The implementation of situational leadership is reflected in four main styles, namely: (1) telling, providing clear directions to teachers in the implementation of tasks; (2) selling, encouraging teacher responsibility and motivation without pressure; (3) participating, strengthening teachers' participation in the decision-making process; and (4) delegating, providing trust and delegation of authority according to the capacity of each teacher. Thus, the situational leadership model has proven to be effective and relevant in supporting the management of Islamic educational institutions, especially in facing managerial challenges and teacher professionalism in the era of globalization.

Abstract

BackgroundThe study is motivated by the observation that many students enrolled in the Tahfidz program still struggle to meet the standards of Al-Qur’an recitation and Tajwid knowledge. PurposeThis research aims to examine the implementation of the Ummi method through Talaqqi in enhancing the reading and memorization skills of Tahfidz class students at Muhammadiyah Elementary School of Ponorogo. Design/method/approachThis study employs a qualitative case study design, with data collected through interviews, document analysis, participant observation, and documentation. The research focuses on the process of planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning, as outlined in the teachers’ lesson plans (RPP) and executed through seven teaching stages. ResultsFindings indicate that students not only memorize the Qur’an but also improve their recitation quality and responsibility through various activities. The results show that the Ummi method significantly enhances students’ memorization outcomes, helping them meet the school’s Qur’an memorization targets, recite with proper Tajwid and pronunciation, and develop consistent responsibility in completing assignments. Contribution/valueThe study demonstrates that the Ummi method through Talaqqi is an effective strategy for improving both the memorization and reading skills of Tahfidz students at Muhammadiyah Elementary School of Ponorogo.

Abstract

Background: The challenge of sustaining young students' motivation for Qur'anic memorization in integrated Islamic educational settings remains underexplored, particularly regarding institutional strategies within pesantren-based elementary schools. Purpose: This study aims to explore the strategies employed by pesantren caretakers to enhance Qur'anic memorization (tahfidz) motivation among students at MI Pesantren Anak Sholeh Baitul Qur'an Gontor, Ponorogo, East Java. Design/method/approach: Drawing on a qualitative case study design, data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with seven informants including the school principal, tahfidz coordinators, tahfidz teachers, parents, and students supplemented by participant observation and documentary analysis. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, involving data condensation, display, and conclusion drawing. Results: The findings reveal four principal motivational strategies systematically implemented by the pesantren caretakers: (1) the Tahfidz Excellent Group, which cultivates pride and healthy competition; (2) Financial Incentive Awards for students exceeding memorization targets; (3) Munaqosyah examinations and Hubbul Qur'an graduation ceremonies involving parental participation; and (4) Tahfidz Camp as a supplementary immersive program. These strategies generate tangible motivational outcomes, including heightened memorization consistency, strengthened self-discipline, robust parental engagement, and positive behavioral changes both within the school and home environments. Contribution/value: This study contributes to the growing body of scholarship on Islamic educational management by illuminating how institutional-level motivational architecture within pesantren settings can effectively sustain young learners' commitment to Qur'anic memorization.

Abstract

This study aims to understand and analyze the visionary leadership of school principals in improving tourism education. Using this type of qualitative research with a phenomenological approach, the research target is at SMK Negeri 2 Ponorogo. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation study. Data analysis techniques include data collection, condensation, data display, and drawing and verifying conclusions. The results showed that the principal's visionary leadership in improving tourism education at SMK Negeri 2 Ponorogo has been running effectively and efficiently by showing three dimensions: commitment, consistency, and competence. The principal's visionary leadership has also shown himself to be an “agent of change”, which consists of conceptual skills, technical skills, and human relations. The efforts of the principal of SMK Negeri 2 Ponorogo in improving tourism education are: (1) the ability of the principal to manifest his behaviour and attitude to his members; (2) the principal's ability to communicate verbally and non-verbally, supported by thinking out of the box; (3) the ability of the principal in identifying and solving problems with new techniques and methods and not being too cooperative; (4) the ability of the principal to leave doubts, be ready to take risks for innovation, and be open to doing different things; (5) the principal's ability to use the power of imagination, appreciation, intuition in making decisions.
