Abstract

This article aims at describing the syntactic properties and distributions of Personal Pronouns in Sambori Language, a language spoken by the people who occupy Sambori Village and others nearby villages in Lambitu, a montainous district of Bima Regency. Sambori Language is claimed to be a different language from Bima Language due to its characteristic of which sounds are different from those of Bima Language. This fact is used by the people of Sambori to legimate their existence by reffiring the language they speak as Inge Ndai. However, no research documentations have proved that Sambori Language belongs to a single language which is classified into a particular group or sub group under the Austronesian Language group. This study deals with the documentation of the syntactic properties and distributions of Sambori Language which focuses on describing the personal pronoun system of the language, describing types of personal pronouns and their syntactic properties and distributions. The data of this study were taken from elicitation, interview, and decumentation. The result of the study shows that Sambori Language has a set of morphologically independent personal pronouns (full pronouns) and a set of clitics. These two sets of personal pronouns show a different syntactic properties and distributions. Only full pronouns which can occur as independent clausal arguments of both intransitive and transitive constructions. In addtion to their distributions, clitic pronouns cannot occur with numerals, relatives, demonstarives, and NPs as the full pronouns can. This sytactical evidences show that Sambori language is different from Bima Language.       Keywords: personal pronoun, clitics, synactic distribution, Sambori Language

Abstract

The Covid-19 has been deemed a global pandemic affecting almost all sectors, particularly in education. Learning activities have been forced to relocate virtually due to the school closure. This study aimed at exploring teaching-learning problems felt by English teachers and their efforts to overcome those problems during the school closure in a state senior high school in West Lombok. Designed in a case study, two English teachers were voluntarily recruited using convenience sampling. The data for this study were gathered from observation, interviews, and documentation. Informed by the theory of Community of Inquiry (CoI) and previous empirical studies, the data were analysed using four stages of the interactive model. The investigation revealed that during the virtual teaching, teachers experienced considerable internal and external pedagogical glitches. It was also uncovered that the teachers disclosed some endeavours to maintain teaching, social, and cognitive presence in the instruction to surmount the nested pedagogical problems. However, their efforts were observed inadequate and left some room for improvement on how teachers could effectively serve in the virtual pedagogical practices. Abstract

Taman Narmada merupakan salah satu obyek wisata yang berada di Kecamatan Narmada Kabupaten Lombok Barat. Taman Narmada menjadi salah satu andalan wisata bagi Kabupaten Lombok Barat, Seperti halnya obyek-obyek wista lainnya, Taman Narmada menjadi destinasi yang lumayan sering dikunjungi oleh wisatawan lokal maupun mancanenagara. Dengan kehadiran wisatawan tersebut, masyarakat dapat membuka lapangan usaha yang baru, misalnya membuka usaha yang menawarkan kuliner dan juga souvenier. Oleh karana itu masyarakat harus diberdayakan untuk dapat memberikan pelayanan yang baik dan berkualitas kepada para wisatawan sehingga keberlangsungan hidup mereka dan keluarganya kedepan dapat terjaga dan ditingkatkan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masayarat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan Pendampingan terhadap aplikasi buku praktis Bahasa Inggris bagi pedagang souvenier di Pasar Seni Taman Narmada, Kecamatan Narmada Kabupaten Lombok Barat yang mencakupi percakapan-percakapan tentang welcome tourists, introducing to tours, explaining safety rules, dan etiquette, showing places of interest. aspek kosa kata tour guide vocabulary, dan contoh rekaman tour guide speech. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksakan dengan metode partisipatif sehingga diharapkan semua peserta aktif terlibat dalam kegiatan pelatihan, mulai dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, sampai pada tahap evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan ini sangat bermanfaat bagi masyarakat mitra karena dengan kegiatan tersebut mereka dapat mengetahui, mempraktekkan pengalaman selama kegiatan berlangsung dalam memperkenalkan souvenier, mengatakan harga dan transakasi, menunjukkan dan menjelaskan tempat-tempat yang menarik di taman narmada.

Abstract

Taman Narmada merupakan salah satu obyek wisata sejarah dan budaya di Kabupaten Lombok Barat yang sering dikunjungi oleh wisatawan mancanegara. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan sumber daya yang mendukung, seperti para pengelola yang terampil, terutama dalam berkomunikasi dalam bahasa asing (bahasa inggris). Tujuan dari kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan pendampingan kepada pengelola Taman Narmada dalam memberikan pelayanan kepada pengunjung dengan Pola English-Integrated Service kepada pengelola Taman Narmada, Kabupaten Lombok Barat. Kegiatan ini menjadikan keterampilan berbahasa Inggris sebagai basis dalam melakukan pendampingan dalam rangka memmberikan layanan prima kepada pengunjung, khususnya pengunjung mancanegara. Materi pendampingan mencakupi keterampilan dalam Welcome Tourists, dealing with tickets, Introducing to Tours, Explaining Safety, Rules, dan Etiquette, Showing Places of Interest. Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini dilaksakan dengan metode partisipatif mulai dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, sampai pada tahap evaluasi. Kegiatan ini diaksanakan dalam dua sesi, yakni sesi teori dan sesi praktek simulasi. Sesi teori dilakukan dengan memberikan materi Bahasa Inggris di kelas agar peserta memiliki pengetahuan yang cukup terkait dengan keterampilam Bahasa Inggris yang mereka butuhkan, sedangkan sesi praktek simulasi dilakukan berdasarkan tugas dan pekerjaan masing-masing peserta. Semua kegiatan berjalan dengan baik sesuai dengan apa yang telah direncanakan. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa peserta memiliki keinginan untuk meningkatkan kompetensinya, terutama keterampilan berbahasa Inggris dalam rangka memberikan layanan kepada pengunjung, khususnya pengunjung mancanegara. Diakhir kegiatan, secara umum peserta dapat menggunakan Bahasa Inggris dengan baik, terutama, ungkapan-ungkapan Bahasa Inggris, seperti menyapa tamu (welcoming), menangani loket (ticketting), bahkan keterampilan guiding.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji pengaruh penggunaan media grafis dan motivasi belajar terhadap kemampuan menulis cerpen siswa kelas X SMA di Kabupaten Lombok Tengah. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode wawancara teknik pengisian kuesioner dan metode tes. Penganalisisan data dilakukan dengan teknik analisis korelasi dan regresi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diketahui bahwa pengaruh penggunaan media grafis terhadap kemampuan menulis cerpen tergolong rendah dan tidak signifikan, yakni sebesar 0,1621%; sedangkan pengaruh motivasi belajar terhadap kemampuan menulis cerpen tergolong signifikan, yakni sebesar 0,7553%. Hasil uji lanjut pengaruh penggunaan media grafis terhadap kemampuan menulis cerpen sebesar 0,002581116. Hal ini berarti bahwa setiap kenaikan satu unit penggunaan media grafis akan diikuti oleh kenaikan kemampuan menulis cerpen sebesar 0,002581116. Besar pengaruh motivasi belajar terhadap kemampuan menulis cerpen adalah 0,020857317. Artinya, setiap kenaikan satu unit motivasi belajar akan diikuti oleh kenaikan kemampuan menulis cerpen sebesar 0,020857317.

Abstract

This study examines factors affecting the maintenance of the Sasak language in Karang Anyar amid increasing multilingualism. Understanding these factors is vital for its survival against the dominance of Indonesian and other regional languages. The focus is on the meno-mene dialect spoken in Karang Anyar Hamlet. Employing a qualitative method, data was collected through observations, interviews, and recordings to analyze the natural use of the Sasak language in daily life. The study highlights social, cultural, and linguistic elements influencing language maintenance, involving various community members from different generations. Data analysis through transcription and classification revealed strong daily use of the Sasak language. The community exhibits multilingual skills, switching among Sasak, Indonesian, and Sumbawa. Factors sustaining this include social, demographic, economic, cultural, family, and attitudinal influences, while political and educational ones are less significant. Although residents preserve the Sasak language well, a dedicated institution is needed to ensure its future preservation and prevent extinction.

Abstract

Social influence usually appears in people’s speech because language is closely related to the population in the place where the language is used. This research aims to explore the factors impacting language maintenance in the Sasak community at Karang Anyar hamlet. The method used was qualitative, it was conducted for two months, from January to February 2024. The subjects consisted of children to elderly people, aged 10 to 70 years old. The number of informants are 40 peoples. The data has been collected by some technique, including: observation, interview, audio recording and note taking. The instruments used are: observation sheet, interview questions, and audio recorder. The data collected by triangulation: observation, interview, and recording. The data were analysed through three stages namely: transcription, identification, and classification. The research result found that the maintenance of the Sasak language in Karang Anyar is still strong. There are more than two languages that are mastered by the majority of the residents. Sasak language is the most often used language in their daily life. Indonesian is only used in formal situation, namely: village office, post office, schools, and minimarkets. Sumbawa language used at certain moments, namely: a wedding event, circumcision event, and meeting at work place.
