Abstract

This study deals with investigating cohesive devices in English department students’ research articles. This study aims at discovering types of cohesive devices and explaining why they are used in English department students’ research articles. Qualitative content analysis was utilized as a research design in this study. The data were in the form of clauses obtained from introduction part of 5 articles written by English department students. From the data analysis, it was discovered that there are 4 types of cohesive devices found namely reference, substitutions, ellipsis, and conjunction totaling to 593 occurrences with the dominant type is reference totaling to 419 instances (70.66%). The factors affecting the use of cohesive devices are the number of sentences and clauses in the articles. Article with high cohesion tend to have more sentences than the others with middle and low cohesion. The highly cohesive texts employ more cohesive devices because there are more ideas to connect in relation to the number of sentences. Keywords: cohesive devices, research articles, content analysis

Abstract

This ecoprint training activity aims to increase the knowledge, skills and understanding of fifth grade students at SD Negeri 026602, Tanah Seribu District, Binjai City, in utilizing natural materials in flowers or leaves that can produce colors. And also develop students' creativity so that they become creative and sensitive to the surrounding environment. This activity is carried out through the extension method, through 3 stages, namely: 1) Activity needs planning stage, 2) Implementation, and 3) Results presentation. Community service activities were implemented for 16 fifth grade students at SD Negeri 026602. The results of the Community Service activities were that the ecoprint training in Tanah Seribu sub-district, Binjai City went well. This is proven by the participation and enthusiasm of students at SD Negeri 026602, Tanah Seribu District, Binjai City. Researchers hope that knowledge from activities like this can be applied in life, giving rise to an entrepreneurial spirit from an early age.

Abstract

The study tested tax literacy and factors that influenced tax compliance in Binjai City, North Sumatra, using a qualitative approach of semi-structured interviews and observations. The results show that the majority of people have a basic understanding of tax types, but difficulties in understanding technical details such as tax calculations and reporting processes. Factors such as education, income, and tax administration experience affect tax literacy, while awareness of the importance of tax for development still needs to be enhanced. The implications of this research include recommendations to develop inclusive and tailor-made tax education programmes, to enhance public understanding and compliance in paying taxes and to support national development effectively. This research makes an important contribution to local tax policy in an effort to increase public participation and awareness of their tax obligations.

Abstract

This paper examines distributive justice within the framework of Islamic economics, exploring its philosophical underpinnings and practical implications. It analyzes the Islamic concept of justice ( adl ), focusing on its application to the distribution of wealth and resources. The study delves into the core principles of Islamic economics, such as zakat, waqf, riba prohibition, and the concept of khalifah (stewardship), and how these contribute to a more equitable distribution of wealth. Furthermore, it investigates the philosophical arguments supporting distributive justice in Islam, drawing upon Islamic jurisprudence and ethical traditions. The paper concludes by discussing the practical challenges and opportunities in implementing distributive justice principles in contemporary economic systems, considering both micro and macro-economic perspectives.

Abstract

The development of digital technology provides great opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to improve efficiency and expand their marketing reach. The SME providing laboratory test mice in Surakarta still faces limitations in marketing processes, customer data management, and product distribution, which are mostly carried out manually. This Student Creativity Program (PKM) activity aims to implement digital marketing transformation through the development and application of the Digital Laboratory Test Mice Application of Surakarta as an integrated platform for promotion, ordering, and customer data management. The implementation methods include partner needs analysis, web and mobile-based system design, user training, and effectiveness evaluation. The results show significant improvements in transaction efficiency, ease of product information access, and market reach expansion for the SME. Through the application’s implementation, the partner SME is able to adapt to digital trends, strengthen competitiveness, and enhance service professionalism in providing laboratory test mice.
