Abstract

This study explores the effect of zakat and non-zakat empowerment programs on the beneficiaries' welfare (mustahiq). This study focuses on the influence of the intervening variable, namely the mustahiq businesses' growth on mustahiq welfare. This study also examines the role of demographic characteristics, such as age, gender, and years of education on mustahiq business growth. This study employs the Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) using data from 100 respondents who received empowerment assistance from three different zakat institutions. The sample of mustahiq was selected from three zakat institutions to provide a diversity of respondents. The results indicate that zakat and non-zakat programs' empowerment through business growth has significantly affected mustahiq welfare. With these results, both zakat and non-zakat productive programs should be more developed to assist the community businesses' growth optimally. Previous studies measure the welfare of mustahiq with material aspects. In this study, the indicator of welfare is based on maqashid sharia, which includes the protection of Ad-Din (religion), An-Nafs (Soul), Al-Aql (intellect), Al-Nasl (descendant), and Al-Maal (wealth). Examining the impact of two variables, namely productive empowerment programs through zakat and non-zakat, on mustahiq business growth and welfare is the novelty of this study.

The research method used is quantitative using primary data. The sample used is 100 respondents who have never bought Korean instant noodles. The test uses SEM-PLS analysis with constructs that show all constructs have valid results, so that testing continues on the relationship between the variables. Halal awareness directly has a significant effect on attitudes, but halal awareness has no significant effect on purchase intention. Halal labels have a significant effect on purchase intention, but halal labels have no significant effect on attitudes, and attitudes have a significant effect on purchase intentions. Indirectly, halal awareness has a significant effect on purchase intention if it is through attitude, while the halal label has no significant effect on purchase intention if it is through attitude. This study only focuses on Generation Z teenagers aged 13-23 years in Sumenep who have never bought Korean instant noodles. The suggestion in this study is that Generation Z teenagers in Sumenep are expected to pay more attention and care about the halalness of a product that is consumed, and for future researchers it is expected to examine similar things by changing the object and place of research. Abstract

ABSTRACT The main objective of this paper was to empirically examine the effect of zakat, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) percapita, Regional/Provincial Minimum Wage, and inflation on the gini ratio in 34 provinces in Indonesia during 2018-2020. The findings of this study indicate that the distribution of zakat, which is proxied by the BAZNAS Welfare Index, and the inflation rate has no statistically significant effect on the level of income inequality in Indonesia. Meanwhile, GRDP per capita and Regional/Provincial Minimum Wage levels have a negative and statistically significant relationship to the level of income inequality in Indonesia. In order to lessen the degree of income inequality in society, this study offers recommendations to zakat managers on how to design and develop zakat programs that can strengthen the mustahik's economy. In addition, all stakeholders must work together in an effort to increase the realization of zakat fund collection in institutions by increasing literacy and public awareness in order to maximize the contribution of zakat to raising the welfare of mankind. Abstract

The COVID-19 virus has become a global pandemic and has spread to various countries, including Indonesia. The pandemic causes turmoil in the health sector and the economy. The impacts of the pandemic are not only at the national level but also the provincial and district level. The district of Blitar is no exception. Blitar is a district in East Java Province with a diverse cultural heritage. Cultural tourism directly contributes to the regional revenue, which can help the recovery of the local economy. This study examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the number of cultural tourism visits and its implications on the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of Blitar. The results show that while the tourist visits contribute to the GRDP of Blitar, the contribution has been negatively impacted by the pandemic.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of income, exchange rates, political conditions, and health factors on Indonesian tourism demand from 2010 to 2019, using multiple and panel regression analyses with data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the World Bank, the Central Bank of Indonesia (BI), and the World Health Organization (WHO). The findings indicate that the income of tourists from China, Australia, Timor Leste, and other analyzed countries positively affects tourism demand, while income from Malaysia and Singapore shows no significant effect. Exchange rates positively influence tourists from Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Timor Leste, and other analyzed countries, but have no significant effect on Chinese tourists. Political conditions negatively impact Australian tourists, positively influence tourists from other analyzed countries, and have no significant effect on tourists from Malaysia, China, Singapore, and Timor Leste. Health factors negatively affect tourists, while having no significant effect on tourists from Singapore and Australia. The study recommends that the government enhance tourism supply to boost demand, with a focus on improving environmental sustainability, health, tourism service infrastructure, and security and safety. Additionally, there is a need for standardized governance rules to better manage the impacts of outbreaks or disasters on the tourism sector.

Abstract

Economic effects are just one of the many effects of the massive infrastructure investment in Indonesia made over the past ten years. The aim of connecting Indonesia between regions is the basis for massive infrastructure growth, especially toll road infrastructure. Several funding schemes have been implemented to build toll road infrastructure, including the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) financing scheme. This PPP financing scheme was also implemented in the Balikpapan-Samarinda toll road construction. Therefore, this research attempts to capture the impact of the construction of the Balikpapan-Samarinda toll road with a PPP scheme on the formation of the economic structure in East Kalimantan province using the Input-Output (I-O) table. The investment value for the Balikpapan-Samarinda toll road is IDR 9.97 trillion was injected (shock) into gross fixed capital formation in the construction sector. The calculation results in this research show that the construction of the Balikpapan-Samarinda toll road contributed 9.8% of total demand. Apart from that, there is a significant impact on the economic structure of East Kalimantan Province, as seen from the expenditure multiplier figure with an output total of IDR 15,111 billion, a total income of IDR 2,471 billion, and a total workforce of 25,095 workers due to investment in the construction of the Balikpapan-Samarinda toll road.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of economic growth based on sectoral composition on the rural poverty rate of 34 provinces in Indonesia in the 2011-2020 period. The method used is panel data regression because the data combines 2011-2020 time series data and cross-sectional data from 34 provinces in Indonesia using the REM model (Random Effect Model). The variables used in this study are the GRDP rate of the agricultural sector, the GRDP rate of the non-agricultural sector, the average length of schooling, the open unemployment rate, and village funds on the level of rural poverty in Indonesia. The results showed that simultaneously, all independent variables had a significant effect on the level of rural poverty in Indonesia, and partially, the agricultural sector GDP rate, average length of schooling, and open unemployment rate significantly reduced poverty. However, the GRDP rate variable in the non-agricultural sector and village funds has no significant effect on reducing poverty.
