Abstract

Current bussiness world move dynamically and require organization’s effectiveness in implementation of policy changes as a form of company's efforts towards becoming a World Class Company. Organizations mostly have always introduced large or minor changes which are adaptive. Therefore, any changes in organization must be planned and managed at best. The process of changes must be managed skillfully in order to effectively implemented align with the interests of the organization. PT Pertamina (Persero) had implemented Single Grade policy as the organization effort in the implementation of changes.These studies describe the process of change that have occured in PT Pertamina (Persero) Marketing Operation Region V with 17 (seventeen) key element of diagnosing changes by using the model of Readiness for change by Stewart namely sponsorship, leadership, motivation, direction, measurements, organizational context, processes or functions, competitor benchmarking, customer focus, rewards, organizational structure, communication, organizational hierarchy, prior experience with change, morale, innovation, and decision making. These studies used qualitative research method with explanatory type research (explanatory). These studies use a holistic case study, using interviews, observation and see the company's internal documents to obtain the necessary data.The results show that there is a real effort of PT Pertamina (Persero) Marketing Operation Region V in making changes. The process of changes shown in seventeen key elements of diagnosing changes resulted in increased employee performance. The company’s effort in implementing changes encouraged employees to improve their competence and self ability, and also to be fully responsible for the tasks given. The process of changes is still underway and requires continuous monitoring and evaluation, in order to understand the development of changes so it always evolving towards the better. Subsequent studies can be done with more evidence sources and different methods.

Abstract

Safety management practices not only improve working conditions but also positively influence employees’ attitudes and behaviours with regard to safety, thereby reducing accidents in workplace. This study measured employees’ perceptions on six safety management practices and self-reported safety knowledge, safety motivation, safety compliance and safety participation.The study conducting a survey using questionnaire among 69 pelaksana Produksi Pabrik III PT. Petrokimia Gresik. The reliability and validity of all the indicators were found acceptable. Data are analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS) with SmartPLS version 2.0.The result is safety management practices have direct and significant influence to safety performance, safety management practices have indirect and significant influence to safety performance through safety knowledge, and safety management practices have indirect influence to safety performance through safety motivation.

Abstract

Introduction: This study aimed to analyze the influence of leadership styles and organizational culture on the performance of plantation foremen as the first responsible person in the field with job satisfaction as an intervening variable. Methods: To examine these issues, a questionnaire distributed at 35 plantation foreman Semboro Sugar Factory. The collected data is then analyzed using the technique of partial least squares analysis using smartPLS 2.0. Results: Indicated that leadership style is positively and significantly affect performance. Organizational culture is also positive and significant effect on performance. Leadership style is positively and significantly affect performance either directly or indirectly through job satisfaction, and organizational culture in a positive and significant effect on performance, both directly and indirectly through job satisfaction. Conclusion and suggestion: Managerial suggestion is to apply nurturant leadership style and task oriented style. More is to creat and maintain the plantation foreman involvement in the culture of the organization, in line with the giving level of job satisfaction perceived by the plantation foreman that will ultimately improve the performance of the plantation foreman hopes of reaching the production of sugarcane per hectare according to the potential of existing varieties

Abstract

Introduction: Leasing in Indonesia has taken part in corporate financing. Financing companies are also able to grow quite impressively so that they require a lot of manpower, especially in the sales (marketing) and also collection (collector) departments. This study aims to see how Job Demand and Job Flexibility are able to influence Organizational Commitment and ultimately affect employee performance in the marketing and collection departments.Methods: The sample used in this study were marketing and collection staff at PT. Mandiri Tunas Finance regional area 7 (covering branches Surabaya 1, Surabaya 2, Gresik, Mojokerto, Tuban, Madiun, Kediri, and Malang). The research used quantitative research methods with external and internal model calculations that included validity, reliability, and data analysis using Smart PLS2.0. The analysis technique used for all hypotheses is Partial Least Square.Results: Testing of marketing and collection staff at PT. Mandiri Tunas Finance in regional 7 produces: (1) Job Demand has a significant effect on Organizational Commitment. (2) Work Flexibility has a significant effect on Organizational Commitment. (3) Organizational Commitment has a significant effect on employee performance and mediates the relationship between Job Demand and Job Flexibility on employee performance.Conclusion and suggestion: The company is expected to be able to encourage employees to fulfill their job demands without reducing the performance of these employees

Abstract

To maintain and improve competitiveness, exploring potentials and innovations to survive in the competition aimed at attracting student interest and gaining public recognition at the national and global levels (World Class University), universities must improve employee engagement. Because high employee engagement is a source of organizational competitive advantage in achieving its vision, mission, main goals and implementing organizational strategies at the global level. To improve employee engagement with improving HRM Practices. In this study, testing the effect of HRM practices on employee engagement with clan culture as a moderating variable. The results of these tests are expected to be a reference for organizations to improve employee engagement. Questionnaires were distributedto 154 employees of universities in Surabaya with varying criteria. After the questionnaires were collected, statistical tests were performed using Partial Least Square (PLS). The results of statistical testing found that employee engagement are influenced by training & development, performance appraisal and compensation. Meanwhile, clan culture only moderates the relation between compensation for employee engagement, and does not moderate the relations between training & development and performance appraisal on employee engagement. Results of this study may be employed as a policy consideration and further contribute to the literature of management studies.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship is one aspect that can encourage economic growth in a country through the creation of goods and services, it can improve the welfare of society. However, the survival of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) is still lower. Even though the number of MSEs in Indonesia has increased, the failure elevates. Variables that can increase the success of MSEs include the values and characteristics of the entrepreneur. This paper explores the entrepreneurial values and characteristics of Chinese, Javanese, and Madurese ethics in MSEs. This study uses a case study approach by using in-depth interviews to explore detailed information. The data source is primary data with six informants from three different ethnicities (Chinese, Javanese, and Madurese). The results demonstrate that Indonesian Chinese entrepreneurs uphold values and dominant perseverance, hard work, guanxi, honesty, personal trust, and confucianism values. Meanwhile, Javanese entrepreneur implements family values, spirituality, innate, paternalism, creativity, deliberation, and harmony. Finally, Madurese entrepreneur emphasizes obedience/surrender to parents, fraternity, and natural behaviour.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe about the key success of women's cooperative “Setia Bhakti Wanita (SBW) Jawa Timur” which used a joint responsibility system to manage the cooperative’s business so becomes a big cooperative in East Java Indonesia. It also becomes a learning place for the joint liability system for other cooperatives. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The outcomes of this study found that the key to the success of the SBW women's cooperative in managing the cooperative business is consistently implementing a joint responsibility system, do monitoring and mentoring, using joint liability as an organizational culture, giving education and training to member, knowledge sharing between members.

Abstract

Background – Zonasi, a new ‘zoning-based school’ system implemented by the Indonesian government in June 2019 has created a significatnt impact on student enrollment in all public schools across the country. Before June 2019, student enrollment in public schools were based on its schools selection process, mainly academic achievement, whilst for past 2 years (2019 and 2020) students enrollment has been based on “zonasi”, a geographical distance between student’s home and the chosen school. The closer the distance, the bigger chance to get acceptance. As as result, public schools nowadays has more diverse students than before. Purpose - This research aimed to explore leadership practices of secondary public school principal in transforming a regular public school into inclusive public school through the act of leadership practices. The school was acknowledged by local government and communities as one of the successful inclusive public high school in Surabaya.Design/methodology/approach - This research used a qualitative approach within a case study design. The data collection techniques used in this research were interviews, observations, and school documents. Data were collected from the principal, 2 counseling teachers, 2 special education teachers, and head of educational in the district.Findings - The result revealed four principal leadership behaviour to transform regular public school into inclusive public school i.e. (1) changing mindset the teachers and non-academic staffs, (2) promoting inclusive practices within the school through various programs, (3) promoting inclusive practive in teaching-learning process, (4) building connection with parents & local communities, and seeking government support on the innitiatives.Research limitations – This study only investigated one public school, with the involvement of a school principal and 4 teachers. It would be better if the scope of the research could be broader, for example covering elementary and high schools, and involving more participants, such as the vice principal of the curriculum field, students and parents.Originality/value – This study contributes to leadership research in the context of secondary school education, which has undergone a transformation from the previously students tend to be homogeneous because they are based on standardized academic qualification, nowadays students at schools have more diverse social backgrounds as a result of the implementation of the zoning system in Indonesia. The findings of this paper can be used as a tool. a guide for policy makers and educational planners regarding zoning system in Indonesia. Such practices can also be learned, adapted and imitated by other schools.
