Abstract

This study aimed to describe the implementation of school literacy movement program (SLM) to increase students’ reading motivation at elementary school in cluster 1 of Kecamatan Tanete Riattang Barat, Kabupaten Bone. This study also aimed to reveal supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing SLM as well as the strategies developed by schools to overcome the inhibiting factors. This qualitative descriptive study utilized observations, interviews, and documentation to collect the data. The instruments of this study were observation sheets and interview guidelines. The subjects of this study were 15 respondents consisting of the principal, teachers, and students of grade VI and III. The results showed that the school implemented SLM program through habituation, development, and classroom learning activities. This program included the provision of facilities and infrastructure (such as libraries, reading corners, reading gardens, wall magazines, posters and slogans). In addition, SLM program was implemented because of the support from the school committee, school extra-curricular activities, and the provision of school funding allocations. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors were the students' lack of understanding about the implementation of SLM, the inbalanced capacity of library capacity to the number of students, the insufficient book collection, and the minimum time available for reading activities. Thus, strategies to overcome these factors were providing students with an understanding of the application of SLM, expanding the reading garden, updating the book collection in the library, and making the maximum use of time during must-read hours.

Abstract

Masalah utama dalam penelitian ini ialah bagaimana Kesenjangan Sosial dalam puisi Mata Luka Sengkon Karta karya Peri Sandi Huizche. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami dan mendeskripsikan makna puisi Mata Luka Sengkon Karta karya Peri Sandi Huizche dengan menggunakan teori Sosiologi Sastra Marxis. Jenis penelitian ini termasuk penelitian deskriptif Kualitatif dengan menghasilkan data deskriptif berupa kata, kalimat maupun frasa. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan Teknik menyimak, mencatat, membaca dan memahami. Hasil penelitian ini menampilkan bahwa data yang ditemukan dalam puisi Mata Luka Sengkon Karta karya Peri Sandi Huizche sebanyak tiga data yang dikontekstualisasikan dengan Sosiologi Sastra Marxis. Dalam Sosiologi Sastra Marxis, Marx menawarkan empat konsep untuk menambah wawasan dalam memahami sebuah karya, yakni infrastruktur, suprastruktur, ideologi dan pertentangan kelas. Dengan penerapan konsep Marx dalam puisi Mata Luka Sengkon Karta karya Peri Sandi Huizche maka dipahami bahwa puisi tersebut merupakan fenonema sosial dan hukum yang tidak seimbang yang digambarkan oleh penyair secara tersirat melalui ungkapan-ungkapan secara simbolik. Adanya puisi ini sebagai bentuk kritik sosial dan aspirasi kepada rakyat kecil yang tertindas yang berfungsi sebagai refleksi atas kesadaran dan kenyataan untuk menegakkan keadilan sosial bagi seluruh rakyat Indonesia

Abstract

Identification of the problem is that students are less focused on learning to understand the content of the reading. This research aims to describe the application of the Whole Language approach in improving students' reading skills in class IV Indonesian language lessons at SD Negeri 40 Lumpangan, Paj'ukukang District, Bantaeng Regency. This type of research is class action research (Class Action Research) which consists of two cycles where each cycle is carried out in four meetings. The focus of this research is 1) Reading comprehension skills and 2) Use of the Whole Language approach in class IV of SD Negeri 40 Lumpangan, Paj'ukukang District, Bantaeng Regency. Research procedures include planning, implementing actions, observing and reflecting. The research subjects were 20 class IV students. The collected data was analyzed using quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results of this research are that there is an increase in student learning activities from cycle I to cycle II, student learning outcomes have increased, namely the average score of student learning outcomes in cycle I is 63, increasing in cycle II to 83. Students' reading comprehension and learning completion has also increased, where in cycle I, 8 (40%) students achieved learning completeness, while in cycle II 20 (100%) students achieved learning completeness and classical learning completion was achieved. This means that learning completeness in cycle II was achieved classically because the number of students who completed it was more than 80%. Based on the results of the research above, it can be concluded that the reading comprehension skills of class IV of SD Negeri 40 Lumpangan, Paj'ukukang District, Bantaeng Regency through the application of the Whole Language approach have increased.
